I have become a Disney snob. :(

So I count 4 trips here? Is that correct? You can afford 4 trips to Disney world - both have the money and the time - and you are asking people to knock some sense into you? I am not sure I can help here... I would appreciate just one trip... And stay at the days in downtown Orlando.

Have you ever gone? For someone on a Disney board, you come off as very bitter.

I get the op. personally, I will never stay at a value because I won't share a double bed. I'd rather stay off property. I'd prefer to stay deluxe because of the balconies, but I'd possibly try a mod. Call me a snob, but it's my vacation and if I have the money I will stay where I'd like.

Count me in! We joined DVC a couple of years ago and I just can't imagine staying anywhere else but the DVC resorts. And this is coming from someone who used to love POP. For our anniversary trip this summer first I booked All Star Sports because it was cheapest. Then upgraded to POFQ. Couldn't get excited about that either and ended up renting points to stay at SSR. I'm sure we would have had fun no matter where we stayed, but it's hard to downgrade from the deluxes. That's why I'm never ever even going to test drive a nice car, I know I would be hooked.

Me too! We always stay moderate until our last trip when my parents surprised us with a BC reservation. It was awesome. We're staying at CB in November and my husband keeps begging me to upgrade us.

Don't feel bad I am a complete Disney snob too! On our honeymoon we stayed at pop and I was happy with it. Then our next trip we upgraded to CS, which we loved. The following trip CBR which we weren't a fan of. Then we took a trip where we decided to splurge and have a deluxe platter split between Poly, AKL and CR....that trip we decided we had to buy into DVC because we knew we now wanted to stay mainly at deluxes. If you are going to travel Disney frequently I would recommend it.

Next month will be my 3rd trip this year. In feb my MIL paid for a townhouse for us to go down to and we have AP so just had to play flights. We stayed a few days at ASM and I could not get excited for there. And when I was there I missed the deluxes. In may we took my 10 yr old brother. Mainly stayed at AKL. But I wanted to see AoA. It was nice cause it was new but I was happy to get to AKL! We prob won't stay at a value again now that we have stayed at them all (I coin the all stars as one big one). I do want to try the royal suites at POR. But I def prefer at least the mods.

I am a total hotel snob in general and wdw has been a big reason why. I never stayed on site until about 5 years ago ( although I have been to the world 50+ times, my grandma lives 30 min. away). Anyways, I started at the dolphin, then CBR (didn't care for it), then POFQ, which I loved and would have always been happy with but.....my husband returned from Iraq and we took "a trip of a lifetime" to BLT. At the end of that trip we bought DVC and have never looked back. Now everywhere we go it seems like nothing is good enough...I'm always comparing everything to Disney....its a horrible disease!

We share the same disease!!! Everything is compared to Disney lol!

I totally get it... We always stayed value and then last year, decided to stay moderate... When it became time to decide where to stay this year, I wanted to do value since it was cheaper, but after paying for a mod- I just couldn't go back to value... :) Way nicer and more relaxing! :)

I feel you, but I think the difference between Mod and Value is different then Value and Dlx or even Mod and dlx.

The price difference between Mod and value, if you can get a solid discount on the Mod, 30%, or free dining (difference between QS dining at Value and Reg dining at Mod) there isn't much of a price difference. It can still be an important factor for many families on a budget, but the gap isn't too huge. And there are some nice aesthetic differences, bigger pools with slides, hot tubs, queen beds, etc ....

The difference between Mods and Dlx, are a HUGE jump in price, and generally the value between the two are very subjective. Some people prefer the indoor halls, others actually prefer the outdoor. Some people thing the grounds at some of the mods, CSR, PORS or POFQ are some of the nicest on Disney, more so then GF, or CR ... etc etc. But the price, there isn't really any debate there, the jump to Dlx is pretty significant. There really isn't as clear a case to be made for the value of Dlx, other then of course, the location of some of them kicks butt. But then other people will happily say they will not spend Hundreds (or thousands) of dollars extra to avoid 30 mins on the bus each day. So again, pretty debatable.

The price difference between value and Dlx is astronomical of course.

So yea, I can see why the struggle between Value and Mod is so tough, if the difference in price is a couple hundred dollars for a week. Its enough money to think, hrm, I could use that 200 bucks. But its little enough money to think, Hrm, I could really use a slightly nicer resort with a bigger pool/water slide and hot tub ...

I completely get it too. :goodvibes

POFQ will always be considered my "favorite" resort as it's where DD spent her first trip. CSR is also special to me because while the price was reasonable, the room itself felt comparable to a deluxe and I especially loved the door separating the vanity/bathroom from living area (DD slept in her P&P in the vanity area; it was also the trip where she started talking in sentences). I, however, grew up staying at one of the monorail resorts and for DD's second trip we found ourselves staying GF CL.

We now go twice per year, once onsite deluxe CL and the other offsite (either WBC or SVR) in order to save on the cost of our biannual vacations. When DD was a baby (she just started Pre-K ) the monorail was a lifesaver. A single mom juggling everything from toddler to stroller to toddler necessities was a logistical nightmare, so I was able to avoid said nightmare when we were going to either MK or EP. When we bused to DHS or AK, 9/10 times someone sprinkled their pixie dust on me and helped via carrying her stroller for me.

I still adore the monorail resorts but as of late both WL and AKL have become favorites, and I enjoy the EP area deluxes too. Basically, I love all of the deluxe resorts. :rotfl:

It is more of a practical thing for me. When my kids were small, staying at a value resort was just fine. Now that they are both adult-sized teens staying in a value room is just cramped and painful. We are staying At WL this next trip, but truthfully a moderate (except for CBR with its full sized beds) is just dandy with me too.

In another post denoiv11 claims to have stayed in a variety of Disney hotels including the Poly...and this time will be staying at an AllStar...

I agree. I haven't been to Disney since 2006 because every time I budget a trip out, we have to postpone it due to some unexpected expense. I hope to go next year, but I won't believe it until I am on the plane. Be grateful you have been able to go so often.

I hear what you are saying. My husband and I have decided that if we can't stay at least moderate, deluxe or rent points for DVC (and DVC is now our favorite way to go), we will skip a trip. After one night at a value in April, I told him NEVER again. So I guess I have turned into a resort snob.

I could have written this post. We stayed one night at POP last trip before checking into OKW and hardly slept a wink. There was a time when we were grateful to have our family of 8 smashed into two rooms at POP. That ship has passed... :-)...and we're down to 4). We seriously would rather wait until we can afford AT LEAST a moderate, but really prefer DVC.

Wondering if we are missing out on our resort time especially since we are doing BC this time around. Problem is we are only at the world for 6 1/2 days.

We have one morning where we will be eating b/fast at cape may and then hanging at pool only for a couple of hours before heading to a park.

Wondering if we should find time to enjoy more of the resort. We will be making a couple hours one night to check out bwi at night.

So question is:

adult only or with kids:

# of days in world:

Resort:

length of time at resort:

I can only say that when we stayed at values and mods we had no desire to hang at the resort. We were commando all the way and fine with it...but then we stayed at WL. That place SLOWED.US.DOWN...:rotfl2: it's so beautiful and relaxing we actually wanted be there a lot. So, at WL and YC, both were 11 day trips with our two girls and we probably spent 2 full resort days on each trip, and also were at the resort for several hours during the day, every day.

Ever since we started staying deluxe, and especially with CL our trips got way more relaxing and enjoyable. We didn't realize how rushed and crazed we had been before. That's just us, but Disney became more enjoyable than we could have imagined. Now, DH won't go any other way.

So sorry everyone! I meant to start a new thread not post that in this thread!!

sorry again to mess up this thread

Are you just at this site to torture yourself then? Because a lot of people here have taken WAY more than 4 trips. Seriously, what was the point of your post?

Not the point at all. Point was that there are a lot of people that can't afford one trip... For one day... And I am supposed to seriously reason with a person ho is disappointed by the fact that they are about to take their 4th trip in as ma y years and isn't excited about it? Come on...

If staying at deluxe is going to make your trip "magical", then my suggestion is to go every other year so you can go all out and stay at deluxe resorts. Don't settle for something you don't like. It might put a damper in your trip if your heart is set on deluxe resorts.

We've stayed@ PO Riverside, WL Comp, CSR. What's up with Caribbean Beach? Why the negatives ( I'm thinking about staying there)

Well, I am not the only person to have found your post rude. You have been quoted by others, not just me. Your original response seems to suggest that you would appreciate ONE trip and (perhaps) be glad staying at the Days Inn (no mention of your stay at the POLY)... It appears you are slamming the OP for not being appreciative for going four times to WDW, but you failed to mention that you have been a few times yourself.
