I'm looking for suggestions on how to cover a very steep slope.

When we had the pool put in, we ended up with a very, very steep slope that runs from the pool to the lower yard. The slope is probably 10-12' in length and it drops about 5' over that length.

I'd like to plant something that is VERY low maintenance, that will hold the soil and is attractive too!

I've though about terracing, but am looking for a less complicated solution.

Any ideas??

TIA! :)

Bernie, is it sun or shade?

Ground covers are the easiest solution.....crown vetch and vinca are two of the flowering ones.

My personal favorite, though, is the daylily. They create huge clumps of plants which prevent erosion. The flowers are beautiful also and require very little maintenance. (I cut down the scapes....or stems....after flowering).

Here's a website to look at them.

Ignore the prices. Many reputable catalogs sell in bulk at very good prices.

Sunny, Gina. The slope faces south, in fact. :)

Thanks for the tips!!! :)

Nice link, Gina, I love some of the names they give the daylilies! :)
