We have a two bedroom at VWL for Mon-Thurs. Because Star Wars Weekend is that Friday we extended our trip by a day. I have a cash two bedroom reserved for Friday night. Now that the trip is getting closer, paying 666.50 for one night and our flight leaves Sat. at 9:00 a.m., seems like a HUGE expense. I need your opinions.

The trip is me, Dh, DS(14), DS(10), and Mother-in-law. Will we fit in a deluxe room for one night? Which would be roomie enough for a 5'5 mother in law to sleep on the sofa type bed? I know we can get rooms at a value, but I don't want to run into tour groups in June and my DH isn't a value kind of guy.

We plan to hit the Star Wars stuff during the day, dinner is at Chef Mickey's, and the night is open. We will probably see some fireworks.

Dh doesn't want to move, but he also doesn't know we are paying almost 700 for a night.

Oh the decisions with planning a trip :rotfl: .

Did you pay cash for the room because there wasn't any availability for a room paid with points and you could only get a room paid with cash?

The Contemporary was nice. Get a wing room and save a little more over the tower room. And it will have a twin sized day bed that was comfortable.

The room on points is 75, and we don't have that right now. I did get a DVC discount for 592.50 but that doesn't include the tax.

How about leaving Disney that night and staying near the airport? We stayed in the Hyatt MCO under similar circumstances (not cheap, but you can't beat rolling out of bed and boarding the plane), but there are a TON of options that are a five dollar cab ride to the airport. You leave Disney at 10, take a cab to the new hotel (ME won't take you unless you are catching a flight), catch your zzzzs, roll out of bed at six, and catch your plane.

I would borrow out of next year's points instead of paying cash. I figure all my DVC is prepaid vacation and why pay cash since I have already paid for points. It sounds like you have the money to spend (even if you know it's not a good value) and if you don't like to move, just look at the "total" expense for the vacation time and don't zero in on one night's cost and spoil your fun.
We always spend at least a full week and that includes the weekends that are a high point value....I just look at the week as a unit and ignore that I paid high weekend points because we don't want to move. Moving would be such a hassle and reduce our enjoyment of our time to relax and enjoy Disney.

I'm with Crisi- checkout Fri. morning- leave your bags with Bell Services- go enjoy your day and then head back to the resort, get your bags and go sleep somewhere cheap near MCO- or the Hyatt in the airport- You can even use ME that way. JMHO

I would stay at the airport because you are going to just probably sleep in the room and have to get up pretty early:thumbsup2

They won't let you take ME unless your flight is leaving that night. Of course, you tell them when your flight leaves........

We ended up in a cab.

You could Priceline 2 rooms for $50 to $60 each at the 3* level. One person could return a rental car if you have one after dropping you off and shuttle back to the hotel. In the am you can all shuttle back to the airport.

If you are not familiar with Priceline there's biddingfortravel.com While they are sticklers for how to present info, they give you an idea of how much to bid. Be sure you understand how the free rebids work to give yourself more bids.
