I know this guy let’s call him…”Paul”; he was blessed with a head of beautiful brown curly/wavy hair. All of his life he would always get compliments on how nice his hair was. When he was a little guy women would always pull on his locks and said how beautiful they were. (he would suffer many headaches because of that) He would always hear comments like …”darn it… I have to pay to have my hair colored and permed…you have it naturally..you are so blessed”.

Any way lets get to “Paul’s” problem. It seems that life (marriage) has taken its toll on this 40 something guy’s hair. He still has the curls but the curls have really started to turn gray. At first “Paul” thought it was kinda cool looking…hey it made him look older.. more worldly. Oh BTW “Paul” doesn’t look 40 something he looks like he is in his late ….20’s. (33 at the most)

Does anyone out there know what “Paul” can use to hide the gray and bring back the brown?

(I will pass the information onto “Paul”..he thanks you in advance..I’m sure)

PS – he once told me this wacky story about an older women who would always make a haircut appointment right after his. The hair dresser would call the woman when he made his appointment to let her know. His older women would come in and collect his cut locks off of the floor and put them in a brown bag. (this went on for years) The hair dresser once questioned her as to why she did it. The woman never admitted what she actually did with “Paul’s” hair. She did say something once about putting them in her garden..but she collected the hair year round..and why only “Paul’s hair? Isn’t that the strangest thing you ever heard? I have this picture in my head of this woman sitting in her bathroom gluing “Paul’s” curls to her head. Or better yet..was she a founding member of Cloneade? Are there a whole lot of little curly headed “Paul’s” out there? If so…the world would be a better place. (if “Paul” does say so himself)

There are a couple of men hair dyes on the market. One that comes to mind is called Just for Men. I believe that it is more like a rinse and not permanent. I believe he would have to use it about every six weeks. He might want to try Grecian Formula too. But, DH didn't have much success with that product.

Charlie, tell Paul Gray is OK! No need to change his "Natural" color.

Adam aka Big "Gray" Dude

Hmmm... I 've seen Grecian formula....

As for the curly hair, believe it or not there is a market for human hair... but only certain kinds/styles, and certain kind of hair. I'm sure others can say more about it.. but it is used in some hairdressers.

But men, hair that is interesting.

Side note my DH had thick curly hair like that, but now,well... he's got a Vin Diesel look now.

Tell him to start going to a professional. Men & boys alike get their hair colored and it is no big deal. It isn't cheap but it is fun to be able to change styles with the season and look more trendy.

Find that woman, tell her Paul needs it all back now and let him glue the hair back on.

I vote for staying gray though. :D

Tell "Paul", that gray hair is sexy.

I've always heard: "if there's smoke on the roof top, there's lots of fire in the furnace". :o Tell "Paul" that. He'll wear his gray locks like a proud badge. :p

See my DH will NEVER have this problem - you see he has so little hair left that when it turns grey he won't even notice it.;)

But seriuosly - why can't he just use the same haircolor that women use - Feria, Preference, etc? Isn't hair - hair?

Another vote here for gray! but short, if it isn't already.

Or a professional for coloring. My mom was lucky enough to find a great stylist at a local cheap place (hair cuttery) through word of mouth. He needs to ask his female friends for help!

Gray hair is by far THE SEXIEST hair color on a man (I wish my guy was totally gray:( ). Tell "Paul" he's crazy if he tries to not be gray anymore!

There's always shoe polish - and it's much cheaper than dye! Or a nice beret......
;)

There's an added benefit with this too - your hair is very, very manageable! :)

**edit to add: GMTA, Pam! **

On men:

Grey = sexy
Hair Dye = not sexy

Tell "Paul" I said so. :)

Hmm.. I;ll have to remember that one... DH's hair isn't going gray (whats left of it).. its turning red!

I was going to dye my hair jet black, like my Fonzie days, but from the results of this thread, Charlie, I am leaving what very little I have left grey. (I used to think it was salt and pepper, but little pepper left there anymore, hardly and barely any salt even  )

Me too!

I'm sure any hair coloring could help "Paul", I know there are some that are specifically marketed for men.

Hmmmmmmm. . . "Paul" wouldn't happen to be a very tall guy from New Jersey would he??

;)

:teeth:

My fiance Chuck has mostly gray hair. It is thick and very curly when it gets alittle long. He wanted to color it, but his natural when he was younger, was sorta auburn, but with alot of dark brown highlights, (nothing he could get from a bottle) according to his "mustache", his natural coloring would be a lighter red now (that happens alot with red heads), but he was afraid it would look phoney, so he didn't start coloring. I am glad, cause I love his mostly grey, brown, light red, and auburn, I told him to just be glad he still has the curls and full head of hair!
