I have a fast pass+ question (shocking, I know) regarding broken down rides.

Back with regular fast pass, if you had a fast pass return time for a ride, let's just use Splash Mountain, and the ride broke down, you were eligible to return at any time the rest of the day to cash in your fast pass. Now that Fast Pass+ is in use, do you have to actually change your fast pass time yourself, or will the machines allow you in later in the day without you having to do anything? Has anyone experienced what happens in this situation yet?

We're sorry, your previously confirmed FastPass+ selection for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad® from 12:05 PM to 1:05 PM on 02/04/2014 needs to be changed because the experience is temporarily unavailable.

As a replacement, you may now visit any one of the following FastPass+ experiences on 02/04/2014, starting at 12:05 PM through anytime during normal Theme Park operating hours (Valid Theme Park admission is required and your FastPass+ selection cannot be redeemed during Extra Magic Hours):

Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor®
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad®
Haunted Mansion®
Pirates of the Caribbean®
Space Mountain®
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin®
Tomorrowland Speedway


There is no action needed to select the experience in advance. During the designated day and time, just arrive at the FastPass+ entrance to one of the experiences above and touch your MagicBand to enter!

*Note that you may be able to still experience your selection for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad® if it becomes available again today, unless you opt to visit one of the other listed experiences.

The great thing about this is that it doesn't matter what your other fastpasses for the day are scheduled for, so on this day we were able to use two fastpasses for Space Mountain.

When I was there in Dec, BTMRR broke down. I got the email. I didn't have to change anything and used it on Space. Then about half an hour later, I used my prscheduled Space FP+. So rides breaking down is one way to use FP+ on the same ride twice.

That's pretty neat and, since I don't have a smartphone, a good thing to know as I wouldn't receive that email until I was back at the resort for the night.

The only problem is that the fast pass is not good for any ride, only the ones that are listed. If you are in DHS or EP you can still only use one tier 1 fp for the day. It will not let you use the "wildcard" one on a tier 1 if you have already used one for the day.

Also, in the e-mail above, we thought we would use the FP for jungle cruise since we had not done that one yet but it isn't on the list. No idea why.
