I have a dumb text question

because whatever font you are using doesn't have an apostrophe. There are a couple ways around this.
1)Use a different font.
2)Make an apostrophe with another font on a different text layer.

Hope that helps. :goodvibes

PS: It's not dumb at all.

It's probably the font you are using. Some fonts don't include punctuation and some don't even have numbers. If they were designed primarily for use in a logo they may not even have lower case letters.

LOL I of course figured it out after I asked the question...I ended up using a different font for the apostrophe and moving it in between the c and s thanks y'all for answering:thumbsup2
