I have a dumb question regarding the use of points. The weekly rate is that a predetermined start and end day (ie Sunday-Saturday) or is it the rate for 7 consecutive dates? I appreciate the help.

it comes out the same either way. it doesn't matter what day you start, you still have 2 weekend days and 5 regular days. It's when you go over 7 or under 7 where things dratically change with the high weekend point cost.

The weekly rate is for any 7 consecutive days that fall within that season. Nightly points values can change between seasons.

With DVC, one stay can be as little as one night or it can be for as long as your points allow.

If you go to the DVC point charts on the top of your screen you will see that each day has a predetermined point value. When you add up these days you will get the week stay. Points will change with the seasons....more demand - more points, less demand less point needed for that stay. As far as when you start the vacation is up to you...you could go monday to sunday, tuesday to monday..as long as there is availabilty its up to you when you would like to stay.

The weekly rate is for a week it doesn't matter when you start.

However, unlike a regular Disney hotel room, the date you check in does not dictate the cost for the entire stay. So if you've booked a room for a week (using points) starting February 13, you'll have three nights at the Dream Season rate and four nights at the Magic Season rate.
