I hate wind chimes. Who else hates them?

The thing is their balcony overhangs my bedroom window so that is all I can hear when I'm in bed. Even with my window closed. It is snowing pretty hard right now, so I'm hoping they'll get frozen together so they can't move for awhile.
It is one thing if you have your own backyard, but I don't think you should be allowed to have them in an apartment complex, where people are situated so closely together.

I agree that dogs barking is a whole other issue though! That and thumping bass from a stereo is VERY annoying.

Me too! I would never hang them anywhere that would bother my neighbors, especially in an apartment complex.

Simply LOVE them!!!! I love the dissonance of the large ones, the chiming of the small ones. Could it be that your windchimes are out of tune? I'm a musician and to me, they add music to the wind.

I live on a street that kids use as a cut-through to get to and from their school. I work from home and I don't even have to look at the clock to know when school lets out.

The "thump-thump-thump" lets me know every single time. That and their tires screeching around my corner get my blood boiling every day at 2:40pm.

I have hated them forever. When they were first popular, I felt like a freak, I was the only one who had anything negative to say about them. You have all made me feel ok with my anti-wind chime thoughts.

I can't say that I'm a fan of barking dogs either. LOL

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't think so, at least not on this board. I just don't understand why some people get dogs to leave them outside all the time. It just seems inhumane to me.

When our dog barks, and believe it or not, she seems like she's trying to be as quiet as possible, we let her right in. She's a big ole lab too and you'll hear, one ruf. If you don't let her in, about 3 minutes later you'll hear another quiet ruf. In the mornings though, a few neighbor dogs like to have a conversation with one another for a bit. It's cute to listen to it and none constantly bark. It's more like they're saying hello to one another.

When our dog barks, and believe it or not, she seems like she's trying to be as quiet as possible, we let her right in. She's a big ole lab too and you'll hear, one ruf. If you don't let her in, about 3 minutes later you'll hear another quiet ruf. In the mornings though, a few neighbor dogs like to have a conversation with one another for a bit. It's cute to listen to it and none constantly bark. It's more like they're saying hello to one another.

My Golden does that too! She'll stand at the door and if you don't open it up after a minute, she'll let out one bark. If she gets no response, she'll wait another minute and let out another one.

She has gotten to be a real PITA lately at night, though. There is another dog who lives behind us, one house over and they "talk" to each other. I don't mind it so much during the day, but at night?

It's gotten to where I put her on her leash (a loooong retractable one) and stand in the doorway and let her do her thing. That way I can keep her from going behind the garage to visit with her friend.

Do I do that for me? 'Fraid not! I can't stand it! I do it for my neighbors.

I'm with you! Our upstairs neighbor's dog barks non-stop for hours day in and day out, drives us crazy. I find those small tubular windchimes to be extremely soothing.

One of my neighbors used to have a porch full of those little ones that make the high pitch noises. It was very annoying. I don't mind some windchimes. My parents have a big wooden one outside. It actually makes a nice sound when the wind blows. My mom used to have a few smaller metal ones but they all break within a few months so none of them make noise anymore.

I will agree with the dog barking. I have two large dogs on one side of my house, and two little yappers on the other side. Both sets bark at anything and everything. At least the bigger ones usually stop after a little while. But the neighbors with the small dogs let them outside for hours to bark constantly. Thank goodness they are trying to sell the house. My dog will sometimes bark constantly, but not for long. One of us always yells at her and brings her in. I would never let her stay out there for more than 5 minutes barking.
