I was thinking of skipping 2012, but that isn't working out so well.

Option A:
November 3-9
Minneapolis to Las Vegas then drive to Dinseyland
I thought Sat night until Tuesday in Vegas, drive to DL on Tuesday and stay at DL until Friday.

Option B:
Minneapolis to Disneyland then drive to Las Vegas
Basically the opposite as Option A.

Option C:
WDW! I know we would miss MNSSHP and would be borderline for MVMCP. I thought about just a golfing style trip, but it was pointed out earlier that the PGA is at WDW that week, so it complicates things.

What would you do? I have never been to Vegas and DW has never been to DL. Our 7 month window opens up in about 3 weeks.

We go to all of those places. If at least one of you hasn't been to DL or Las Vegas, that's my recommendation. There is lots of traffic between LA & Las Vegas on the weekends, so schedule things so you don't have to be part of it.

I'd love to see the overlay DL does to the HM for the Christmas Holidays. Not sure when that begins, though. I'd happily go to DL instead of WDW if I could see that!

Have fun deciding.

I'd probably go with B. During slower times DL only holds Fantasmic and fireworks on the weekend so if you stayed Tue-Fri you could catch WOC but would miss the others.

HM overlay is up and going for both Halloween and Christmas. IASW overlay for Christmas could possibly be opening towards the end of the OP's trip or might be the week after. It's pretty awesome too!

Also recommend B for the weekend. During the off season, DLR has longer hours on the weekend than they do doing the week, as well as fireworks and shows on the weekend that are not available during the week.

Warning: that is an awfully long drive to Vegas ... personally I'd fly it. I've seen Orange County (SNA) to Las Vegas flights on Southwest as low as $60 per person. Between car rental price, gas, and the drop in a different location fee, you're probably better off both price wise and sanity-wise just flying rather than staring at the desert for that many hours ...
