I hate that Google uses 'smart ads'.

Those are Google ads, not site sponsors. They show up based on subject content within the thread. I suspect that your signature graphic with the mention of pit bulls is what is causing that thread to be showing for you where other people are getting travel related ads, etc.

Did not know this.

I will change the title. Thanks Obi. :thumbsup2

Yeah I think breedism is great... it protects the community from these monsters.

"He never bit anyone before" LOL the words out of yet another owner who's animal has just ripped someone's throat out.

IMHO the world should follow Ontario's example and get rid of this breed altogether. Permanently

I have mozilla as a browser and I can adblock any photo that I don't want to see... guess what?, I kept the ad and got rid of your siggie :rotfl:

Your dog may be fine now, CR but one of these day he/she may snap and kill a child or another animal. Watch yourself.

Yay to the DIS for having such a great SPONSER!! :cheer2:

Can I have the winng lotto numbers for this weekend ms. cleo?

Thank You!

Cass -I am intrested if this breed has ever done anything to you or anyone in your family ? Just from your (antagonizing) posts you sound a little bitter :confused3 Justcurious as to where it might be coming from ?

Strange, I get the pit bull ad as well and I would never have one in my signature :scared:

I wonder why I see it and not travel?

Are you talking about on this thread? Probably because the term pit bull has been posted a number of times. Once it is posted enough, it shows for everyone that looks at that thread.

A hint for everyone, you can change your skin to get rid of these ads. No, I'm not talking about some gross exfoliation ;) On the bottom left of your screen you'll see a drop down menu. This is the different skins, or background color schemes, for the DIS. I have California Gold on right now. It's ugly as heck but there are no Google ads.

Yes, 3 neighbourhood incidents, a Mom walking with her 5 year old and 3 year old (in stroller) out of nowhere one of these monsters attacked the 5 year old, Mom tried the best she could to defend but it wouldn't let go. A man in a car stopped and ran to the sidewalk to help, he couldn't get it to let go of the girl either. Police came and had to shoot it at point blank range - very dangerous situation.

5 year old survived but needed major reconstructive surgery

Also, an 11 year old girl was attacked in our park, she bleed to death with a throat wound.

My eldery neighbours little sheltie was killed by a pitbull while she was walking with it. THat woman was severely traumatized by the death of her little dog and died within months.

THis is just my neighbourhood, multiply this by thousands of neighbourhoods.

I think this breed is wired wrong, great pets that seem sweet until a fuse goes and by then it's too late.

Anyone who would have one as a pet taking chances with their lives, their children's and neighbours lives too. :scared:

There is a reason why places have bans like this.

No, I've seen it a few times today on various threads.. unless Cathrine's siggie is attracting that ad to the threads I have been on?

I think the issue isn't that pit bulls are a vicious breed, it's that the few vicious pit bulls that do attack, due to their size, are just more likely to kill someone that a chuiuaua.

A chuiuaua may be 100x more likely to attack you than a pit bull (totally made up number!) but it would be difficult for one to kill you. I had a chuiuaua try to attack my lab-mix once. Even my dog just looked down at it and said "what, are you kidding me?". The owner was lucky, mine could have killed it in an instant and it would have been self defence, but Missy was just too confused to react, the owner got her dog before she could do anything.

Now, had a pitt bull done the same thing, Missy could very well be dead. It's not the agresion, it's the size.

I don't know what the answer is. I hate seeing a breed singled out, but I also feel it can be a legitamate concern. I'm truely torn on the issue.

Wow - you must live in some neighborhood :scared1: and have witnessed all of them yourself !:sad2: I must live a pretty sheltered life as I have never witnessed a dog attack personally ( nor do I ever want to !) or seen as many as you have ! Nothing of the sort has ever happened in any of the neighborhoods I live in. Perhaps your neighbors should have made better decisions - either in their choice of dogs or the way they chose to have them
trained and/or restrained if they were that dangerous.

Maybe,

So I guess where ever you and your signature go -you will have that Pit Bull ad following you...

Ironic huh?

It might just save your life one day.

I think youve made your point.

As Im sleeping, my dog will eat me, and my family and all my neighbors families and any of their family pets, as well.

I appreciate your concern. :goodvibes

I know :sad2:

and you wonder why I hate these abominations?

I have only seen one Pitbull in the last 3 years, walking nicely on a leash with his owner. It was here before the ban so it can stay until it dies but had to be neutered and muzzled. (which it was) :goodvibes

Where is the tag fairy when you need her? ;)

one correction though, they don't attack to eat. Just for the fun of the kill.

I think you can let it go now.

Locally there was a little boy killed by a Jack Russell mix. The family also had another dog. It was a Pit Bull. ANY dog can kill.

What movie did you watch last night, Cujo? :lmao:

Perhaps your neighbors should have made better decisions - either in their choice of dogs or the way they chose to have them trained and/or restrained if they were that dangerous.

Unfortunately, this is the problem. The dog owners have refused to believe their large and dangerous dogs could ever hurt anyone, and have refused to exercise proper control and care with them. I was bitten by a rottie/shepard mix last summer at a friend's house. I was told "she has never done anything like that before." What if it had been my kid?

I don't think they should be banned, but I can tell you that if I saw one running around my neighborhood, I would shoo my family indoors as quickly as I could.

Sounds like a great reason to start a boycot Ontario campaign to me

Which frankly you shoul do with any unfamiliar dog running loose in your neighborhood. A Dog running loose shows bad ownership - youre totally right.
