I Hate Squirrels

ironic, but today is squirrel appreciation day

Could someone please tell me one thing to appreciate in these rats? So far on the hate side I have:

Maybe a thousand dollar roof repair for the holes they have chewed.
Fire danger for wires they have chewed.
Can't sleep for the noise they are making in the attic.
$300 - $400 payment to animal removal company to trap and remove.
Cost to remove and replace the insulation they have used as a bathroom?

Is there anything positive to outweigh this list?

I love this suggestion for keeping squirrels out of bird feeders:

"2.For about four dollars, a Quincy, Illinois, homeowner has enjoyed 99 percent squirrel-proof feeders. He attached one end of a Slinky to the top of the pole and allowed the rest to hang so that the pole runs up through the center of the Slinky. Typically, he says, "the squirrels will try to jump onto the pole, grab the Slinky and promptly find themselves dumped to the ground."

Did you try the fox urine? You will sleep soundly in peace and quiet that very night. Cost...maybe $5.

Same here Mystery Machine....I see squirrels, bunnies, chipmunks, birds in my back yard and I see a dinner plate underneath them....

We have a huge red tailed hawk right now sitting in my tree just waiting to catch a glimpse of the baby squirrel I saw yesterday running across my porch.

The hawks decimate our yard and eat everything in sight....last year the hawk was building a nest in our yard in January and then all of a sudden he left....seems that a Great Horned Owl moved in with his bride and raised an owlet (which was amazing to watch). As soon as the Owlet left in August the Hawk was back.

Last fall I looked out my kitchen window and saw the hawk on the ground sitting, I ran out to chase him away and out pops a fox....I'm not sure who was stalking whom....the fox stalking the hawk or the hawk stalking the fox but it was not to be that day cause I chased both.

Oh and I don't consider my home in the country. It's kinda the "burbs" of the Lehigh Valley in PA
