My DH's foster family is having their Christmas party tonight. After all the years of them forgetting that I have 3 kids and not 2 (anybody remember my rant about that?! ), we had decided we would not attend any more of those events. Well, we got a call the other day about the party. DH didn't want to be nasty and tell them that we weren't coming and why, so he told his foster mother that he would be working late tonight (this is actually no lie - end of the year and all  ) and we would not be coming. Then she tells me that I can come down myself and bring the kids (definely NOT HAPPENING! :bounce: ) Since we only have one vehicle, he told her we would not be there. This morning, before 8 am (!!), the phone rings....and it's her! I let it go to voice mail and she leaves a message to me, telling me that she can arrange for someone to drive down here to get me and bring me home later. They live about an hour away. Can't she take the hint?! :bounce: Even if I wanted to go, there is no way on God's earth that I would not be home to make my husband's dinner after a long day at work. I wouldn't do it for anyone in my own family.

Sorry for the long rant...just needed to get it off my chest!

You need to tell her you won't be going or the car may show up to pick you up. She could just think she is being nice about sending a ride for you but it is still very controlling. I don't think you should have any regrets about not going but she needs to be told again by you or DH.

I sure am glad I was not pushy with you at WDW. ;) Enjoy your evening with your family, Colleen. My best to you, Dennis and the kids. :sunny:

You could never be pushy! You're too much of a gentleman :p Besides, I ENJOYED spending some time with you....can't say the same about this woman!:earseek:

Colleen

PS She has called again since my first post! This message was "I'm coming at 5:30 to get you....." Gee, did I say Yes and not realize it!

 She's just not getting the hint is she? The holidays are so hard, trying to please everyone, and still retain a little sanity and time for yourself as well as your family!! Good luck!:D

Hang in there Colleen. Call her and in no uncertain terms let her know you and the kids just want to stay home! The holidays are stressful enough without having to attend and unplanned event.

Good luck and I hope you have a better day.:D

I finally called her back and left a message on her voice mail. I politely told her that I had just spoken to DH at lunch and they are extremely busy. I told her that after his long day, I wanted to be home with him and make sure he has a good meal. I thanked her for her offer, but said no thank you. Needless to say, I am expecting another call from her later.

I commend you for staying polite!:D It must be hard to be nice to someone who does not know when to stop.
