I have a muscle/tension headache for most of yesterday afternoon and into the evening. By 9pm last night it was turning into a migraine. then 4am this morning I woke up with so much pressure behind my left eye I felt like it was going to pop right out of my skull.

I got up and took some sinus meds and went back to bed. Two hours later I still had it so I took some motrin. An hour after that the edge was off, but I was still feeling so much numbing type pressure I get with bad sinus/migraines.

I knew I would be useless at work today and not very patient or able to handle anything more than a very quiet inside voice and since I teach 3 yr olds I called a sub.

So now I am sitting here the pain behind my eye is better for now.. but the tension in the back of my head is starting up again.

The weather stinks... very humid - warm - great fuel for bad t-storms and my wonderful monthly friend decided to visit today (sorry for the TMI).

I think I am gonna take my youngest to school and crawl back into bed. :(

Awwww! Headaches stink! Yesterday was mine, and I was absolutely thrilled when it finely eased up.

Take care of yourself! I hope you get relief soon!

I feel for you, those stubborn headaches are the worst! I hope you can get some rest and get rid of it today.

Sometimes, when nothing else is working on my headaches, rubbing Icy Hot at the base of my skull helps to dull the pain. I don't know if it's good for me or not, but it helps!

I hear ya. Migraines are terrible. What (sometimes) works for me: heating pad at the back of the neck, or where the pain is. I have also use those heat wrap things. Sometimes ice, or frozen veggie packets, I know sounds wierd, hot and cold, but I get so that I try anything! Someone once told me peppermint candy. I know it sound strange, but it worked for her. AND the strangest thing of all is McDonald's!! I know I know I sound like a wierdo, but when I get a really bad migraine I start to crave McDonald's after I've had one for a long time. Turns out, I just read awhile ago in a mag, that the combo of beef and cheese does something to the imflamation!! I will think of you and hope that your migraine goes away quick.

I'm right there with you today! My right eye has so much pressure brhind it that It is watering like I'm crying! I'm just feeling sorry for myself, both of my kids are home from school (teacher day) and I have a in home daycare so I have 6 small children plus my boys. And to beat all it's raining outside and so I can't even take them out to run off some energy. Okay, I'm finished complaining. thanks for "hearing" me out!!

I don't know if this works for migraines (which are worst than labor pains in my opinon ~ well, maybe the same because in both situations you wish you were dead :teeth: ) but I have read that for a headache to drink Gatorade. Unfortunately I can't remember what the reasoning was but something in Gatorade calms a headache almost immediately. I am willing to try it but thankfully I don't get headaches or migraines too often...but when I do I probably won't have any gatorade in the house! :guilty:

Hope you start to feel better soon. Can a Doctor's visit help?

I know how you feel Jen. I get a migraine once a month. I take medicine for it but it doesn't take it away totally. The migraine usually last up to 2 days.

GO SEE THE DOCTOR!!!!
I used to think that I had bad sinus headaches that would turn into migraine. It turns out that migraine headaches aggravate the sinuses.
I've probably pickled my liver by now taking sinus medication that NEVER worked.
I saw the doctor and told her that I had weather related (sometimes) migraine/sinus headaches.
She diagnosed me with migraines. It turns out that sometimes they are attached to weather, but lots of time to my period.
ANYWAY, she prescribed a miracle drug for me. It's called Relpax. It's a pill and VERY expensive. If you have decent insurance though, it shouldn't be a problem.
Relpax has changed my life. :cheer2: Just last week I got a migraine at MK. Before Relpax, it would have TOTALLY ruined my (and kids) day. I took my medicine and 20 minutes later i was PERFECTLY FINE!!!!!
Don't wait! Life is too short to suffer needlessly.

Benadryl sinus is my new friend. It works much better for me than any other OTC cold/sinus med.

That and Percocet. But that's another story. I've had some real doozies of migraines lately, and Imitrex doesn't touch them. Percocet does. And now I know to wait until AFTER I get home from work to take it. I actually had to find an emtpy office at work, close the door, and sleep on the floor the other day.

Hi
I hope you are feeling better. pixiedust:

I once had a job interview, where the supervisor told me she couldn't stand people who called into work sick with a headache. (Obviously she had never suffered from migraines, or I doubt she would have made such a remark. )

Take it easy.

:furious: This makes me SOOO mad when people say stuff like this!! Trust me- on ANY given day, I would rather be working than having a migraine!!!

I had a boss who still scoffed when I brought in my ER papers (i had to go get a shot- after having the migraine for 2 days and throwing up for 2 hours).

Now, I take topomax as a daily preventative, and it has literally transformed me!!! :Pinkbounc  :sunny: It has some odd side effects, but I'll take them ANY day.

But I still get so FURIOUS when people act like I have a minor ache...

Sorry OT- OP: hope you're feeling good!

I just went to the doctors yesterday because the headaches are getting worse. Relpax was a miracle drug for me but I've had two migraines in two weeks and the Relpax didn't work as well for those two.

I have an appointment for a CT Tuesday and a neurologist next Friday. She also put me on a blood pressure med because my BP was high and she said that may be causing the headaches right now.

Headaches are nasty vicious things and I wouldn't wish migraines on my worst enemy. Really.
