Noramlly I am not stressed out to much but today had been one of those days. It seems like it has been one thing after another. My 17 year old DD woke up sick this morning, and it was due to stress over a boy. :sad2: She stayed home. I took the others to school and when I walked back in the door I got a text that a lunch box was left in the car, so back to the school I go.
I got the house clean, then I get a call from DH that he may have to work out of state for three months. This is a good thing, but still hard to hear. Still working everything out and all of that. Then we go to cheernastics tonight and my DD says she is tired and her arm hurts. This was the last thing that I wanted to hear because we have tryouts coming up in March. I have just spent a small fortune in classes and all of that and she is not giving it her all. I told her we would take it easy this week and see how it goes. She does not want to quit, this whole thing is her idea, but it puts a LOT of stress on me. I don't even know why other than the money that I am spending for this. I want it to be worth it, ya know?

I think the cheer thing is bothering me the most. She has worked so hard and I pray that she makes it. She had her standing BHS but now she is not sticking it right. She was doing fine until she spend everyday at the gym this past week. We are backing off a little to see if that helps. I am in this until May no matter what due to class fees. I just don't want ot see her broken hearted. :guilty:

At least your house is clean :grouphug:.

I'm not sure what to say about the cheering, except to let her have an easy week. Maybe you increased her practices too much and she injured herself or maybe it's just too much work or maybe she just wants the attention. My 10-year old is a competitive swimmer and our state meet is in a month ... I cringe at every "owie" my leg/arm/back hurts and she knows it. Just tonight she tried to get me to do a bunch of stuff for her because "my knee hurts". I saw right through it :happytv:.

Could you maybe talk to her coaches? They might have some insight for you.

I was wondering if you have you ever gotten her therapeutic massages, like at a health club or from a physical therapist, that could really help her aches and pains especially if she is really working out *hard* for cheer.

One of my favorite movies is Pollyanna...why? Because she has positive thinking. It is so easy to get down these days. Try and turn those thoughts around to good thoughts. Like the other poster said---clean house. Husband has a job. Dd 17 is really not sick. Other does not have a broken arm. Just be there for them and listen to their problems. Be thankful you can communicate with them. You have a right to vent and complain...just get those thoughts turned around...:wizard:

Nice way to turn a frown upside down :thumbsup2

It's funny that you said that because once I calmed down last night I went in to her room and got her up and took her to my room and gave her a much needed massage. Then we soaked her feet in this hot water foot thing that I have and we cleaned her face real good and put a hot towel on it for a few minutes. She was like a noodle when we finished. :rotfl2: She said "I think that I'll be OK if you do this every night after cheer". :lmao: I guess she would! We watched the videos back and she did better than what we thought. She is much better today and she will have today off so by tomorrow she should be ready to hit it again.

I know you are right. I do have a lot to be thankful for. I was just having one of those moments, and that's not like me to do that very often. Everyone is much better today. I'm still stressed about the cheering thing, but that too will pass once tryouts are over.

DS tends to overdue before soccer competitions and his knee acts up big time. Totally understand the performance factor that you are speaking of. The kids work really hard... My point (if I could ever just get to it:lmao:) is his sports physical therapist would have him to cold/heat therapy every 20 with an extra push of warm wet therapy (tub), and light stretching for a few days. And even though DS is 14 we still use children's motrin (never had a need to use adult) and that works also.

Here's a few for everyone in the family, and an extra one for mom!:hug::hug::hug::hug:

Just a quick point that Children's Motrin chewable tablets are the 100mg per tablet and the dosage for an 11-year old is 3 tablets or 300 mg. The adult Motrin (or generic Ibuprofen) is a whole lot cheaper. I give my DD 1 200 mg tablet and that seems to do the trick for aches and pains. I don't get why the recommended dosage for 11-year olds is 300mg (3 100mg chewable tablets) and 12-year old's it's only 200 mg :confused3 (1 200 mg swallow tablet), but of you're giving your 14-year old 3-4 chewables it would be a lot cheaper to give him the adult tablets instead.

Great point. And it is all exactly the same medication (even the generic ibuprofen), just in different dosage strengths! :thumbsup2

I agree with trying to look for the positives in each day, and when even that doesn't seem to make it better, I always think, tomorrow is a new day to start fresh!
We all have days like that and sometimes it is just a day not going smoothly, and sometimes it is an issue bugging us like your DD's cheer. I always look back on situations I've stressed over and see that they somehow work themselves out. As my DH says "This too, shall pass."

Hang in there wdwmomof3!

You sound like a great mom who has a fabulous relationship with her teenager!!! I'm glad everything is settling down more.
