By somone who used my credit card to buy cosmetics and bedding online. Seriously, people, if you're going to defraud me, at least do it for something cool. Like concert tickets. Or a mountain bike. Or....something.

And just WHERE did they ship these goods? Wouldn't that be a dead-giveaway as to who was pretending to be you?

My sympathies on being defrauded in such a way. Make sure you put fraud alerts on your name & Social Security #. If I were you, I'd enroll in any one of a number of Equifax programs. You know right away if anyone has made a inquiry about your credit and if spending on any of your accounts increases by a certain amount or percentage.

That is how I felt when my daughters camera was stolen, like couldn't you at least leave the memory card?

When our credit card was hijacked they made a new card and went on a shopping spree. Walmart, Lowes, the gas station, and the butcher. Thankfully our credit union put a stop to it almost immediately, but they didn't buy anything cool either. They did however use the self-service lanes (everywhere but the butchers) so they didn't have to hand their fake card over to the cashier.

We had our CC stolen right before Christmas. Our Credit Union called because of an 'out of character purchase'. Someone bought diet supplements online- twice within a couple of days. The total that went through was less than $200 before the CU caught it. The bad thing for us this happened a week before we were leaving for Mexico for vacation and this was a main CC. The CU was able to rush us a replacement card with a few days.

It could be worse. I worked in banking for years and I had a customer, a sweet little 85 year old woman who had her identity stolen and the person bought a bunch of porn and sex toys. She was so embarrassed she almost didn't come in. I felt so bad for her.
