... but in light of all the controversy regarding sending packages to soldiers we don't know I have decided to send my package to a Marine I do know. Trouble is, I can't remember who gave me the name now! The soldier is from the same unit as ClassicPooh4's dh... I wanted to resubmit the name in case someone else wants to give it a try!

I think if you have a name you can send it! It is the "any soldier" ones that they don't want. I could be wrong though.

I agree with Bibbidi. We've adopted a "forgotten" soldier in TwinMom7's son's unit. I had considered not doing it until I realized that for some of these soldiers the "to any soldier" mail might be all that they would get. Maybe they don't have a solid support group at home to keep the mail coming. Since the DoD is discouraging anonymous mail, there are likely to be some REALLY forgotten soldiers. So, I'm sending a small pkg with a letter explaining how I adopted him so that he won't feel so alone. If you have a name/address, I'd say go ahead and send it. The support was apparently needed for whatever reason.

I have adopted two marines so far and I'm going to send the packages anyway after listening to Ari Fleisher yesterday.

If no one else asks for this Marine's address, I'll take it.

i'm with you. I adopted the same soldier. Sad enough that he was forgotten, but if we don't send things now he'll really be. I've got a box ready to go tomorrow and if asked I'll say I'm a friend of the family. Patty's here, the DIS is family, so I'm supporting my extended family. That includes Bobby and his fellow soldiers.
