I had a week of vacation to use up, so Disney World, here I come!

It started just after Halloween; my boss told me I had a week's vacation to use up, and if I didn't use it by the end of the year, I'd lose it! As soon as he said that, a seed was planted. I compared production schedules and the scheduled vacations of other people in my department, and we agreed on the week of December 14-21.

When I got home that day, I checked online to determine Walt Disney World crowd level projections for that week, and they were predicted to be higher than normal, but not unbearable. Also, I wouldn't have to worry about the July heat, like I had had to deal with on my family's July 2013 trip to Walt Disney World.

I discussed this with my father, and he helped me get a timeshare in Kissimmee using his RCI (Resorts Club International) points. I also found a round trip flight on JetBlue and a car rental through Alamo. All that was left was to get park tickets! I went with a 5-day non-hopper, as I'm not really the park hopper type.

Since I was going to be going to Disney in December, I decided to participate in as many of the Christmas activities as I could. While I'm still on the fence regarding Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, I made it a point to make a reservation for a Candlelight Processional meal package, at Biergarten in my case.

I look forward to any suggestions from fellow DisBoards members to make this a memorable trip!

That sounds a bit like my first solo trip back in 2006. I booked it when I knew that not much was going on at work as well. Although I stayed on site as I don't drive.

Hi! I have been to Walt Disney World by myself, twice, but both of those times were pre-DIS (1997 and 1999), so my trip planning was much more haphazard. I have also been four more times post-DIS, but I was with other people and thus at the mercy of their plans, to a certain extent, as they rented the car and I couldn't justify renting my own car. And, being off-site, a car is a necessity! ;)

How exciting for you!

Talk about divine pixie dust !!

Yeah, it's nice! ::yes::

Oh fun!!!!!!

Absolutely! :goodvibes

Definitely!

All I have to do now is sit back and wait for my ticket and Photopass package to arrive in the mail! That is, unless somebody reading this has a suggestion for a not-to-be-missed activity during the Christmas season. I am already planning to see the Candlelight Processional (signed up for the dining package), check out the Osborne Lights, and visit the various resorts to see their trees.

Christmas in the World is the BEST! :goodvibes Resort hopping to take in the sites is a must! It's so neat to see how they decorate everything! I have been to the Boardwalk Inn, Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary, Poly, Grand Floridian, Pop and Art of Animation and I KNOW the rest are JUST as pretty! ::yes:: I haven't been that late, but I LOVE the holidays at Disney!

This is the last night of my trip, and I've had a blast! Lots of seasonal activities and character interactions. Once I get home and upload the pictures, I'll start working on my trip report.
