Back from Disney World, a few thoughts and comments...

This was a tough week for me. I am not a Theme Park guy, and really didn't want to go at all.

But, the wife and kids all were up for it, so I went along for the ride, all the time thinking that for the same money, we could be in Paris cruising the Seine.

So, Disney World is top shelf, anything they do, they do right. From getting you out of the parking lot to the smallest construction details, the physical plant is top shelf.

The crowds were outrageous, the lines were stupid, and the cost of everything from food to junk was ridiculous.

We are talking $42/day just to get into the park, six people six days, the admission tickets were $1500 for us. Add on airfare, hotel and food, and we easily could have gone someplace magnificent for the same money.

All in all, Grumpy hated it and everybody else loved it.

I sure don't expect anyone here to agree with me, but this was the most torturous seven days of my life.

Please please people, go somewhere else on your vacation.

so what do you want from us??? :confused3 We all LOVE Disney!

Adios! :wave2:

In addition to some ex's and DHs I would like to ask the OP if he is my BIL!!!?

I just got back from Disney 12/2- a short 5 day trip with the fam- BIL, SIL and their 2 kids- DH and I just got back before that Sept 27th from an 8 day magical trip but my 4 yr old niece wanted to go back and was bugging everyone (DH and I took her by ourselves last year) so I booked a trip for all of us- (so I could be the tour guide b/c they have never been to Disney)

BIL was always 20 feet ahead of us, not taking in the sites- rushing everywhere- getting annoyed by the buses (I hate the trasportation- but you just go with the flow)- and on our last day- he got into the bus line and said "thank god its over!"-- DH and I have been to Disney 12 times and I would have to say this was my most un-enjoyable time ever! I had major anxiety the whole trip-

This is how bad it was- OK- here is the scene- Main Street, MK- what do YOU see (yes me too- a very large castle at the end) BIL is standing the same place I am, yes, Main Street- DH says lets go see the castle- BIL turns around and says OK lets go see the casle and starts walking towards the City Hall Bldg!!! :scared: DO YOU NOT SEE THE HUGE CASTLE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES!!??? that is how much he did not care- or pay attention.

Has anyone ever been to Dsiney with someone who absolutely DID NOT want to be there??- It ruins the trip for everyone!

I felt like a big piece of "crap" and actually just wanted to cry when I heard him say "thank god its over"-- b/c I tried to make everything so special for everyone so that they can see Disney the way I do--- But I learned a valuable lesson--- NEVER AGAIN will I ask someone who is on the fence about Disney to take a trip with me! You are either a Freak or I dont want to know ya!

STAY HOME NEXT TIME AND DONT RUIN MY DISNEY MAGIC! :guilty:

For years my husband would go skiing with his pals and I would take my girls to WDW. One night we were sitting around reminiscing about our vacations. The girls would say remember this and remember that.... Oh you (daddy) weren't with us. He came with us the next time not going skiing and now we own DVC. It's not about where you go it's about who your with. But thank my lucky stars it's WDW

Gee, i am SO glad i wasn't vacationing with the OP! LoL - So i guess we won't have to worry about him hanging around here..

Like someone else said, WE ALL LOVE DISNEY.

GO FIND A "I HATE DISNEY WORLD " WEBSITE TO B.... AT!!!! leave us alone. You picked a bad week, had a bad attitude(the biggest problem) and don't like thier food-fine -if there is a next time - possibly go about it differently- and leave us alone! There is stuff there for everyone-even you. If you cannot enjoy it for yourself, enjoy the look in your kids eyes-that should have made it all worthwhile.

OK, so I got a PM from somebody challenging me to defend myself and not be a troll.

I am frankly surprised at the venom here, my original post paid a high compliment to Disney:

I admitted that I am not a theme park guy, that I knew before I went that I was not going to enjoy it, and so I was right. Self fulfilling prophesy? Maybe. True nonetheless.

I did do a tremendous amount of research before the trip, bought Fodors, and planned each day in excruciating detail. I knew exactly what to expect, I guess I was just hoping that one of those million dreams would wipe off on me and I would enjoy it. Instead my dream was to get the he11 out.

Regarding our choice of weeks, well, school vacation and all, this was the week. I knew it would be crowded, but how the heck can the fine folks at Disney World allow 25,000 people into MK on the same day? Don't they know that's a recipe for misery? Don't they have a maximum occupancy, and then they shut the door?

I am glad that you all love it there, eating $8 greasy turkey legs and wearing your light-up ears. Enjoy it.

I'll be at the Louvre without you, while you're riding MISSION: HURL without me.

Poor kids, The Louvre, how friggin boring for them

Hourra! yes indeed we all love Disney, I am going in two weeks and I have butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it, Disney is not just about rides, it's about the aromas, the music, the shows, magic is in the air all the time, yes it is expensive but I do not care, I budget for that and I indulge when I am there. Two whole weeks at Disney, YOUPPI. :cool1: Me, my husband, sis, bro-in-law and my lovely niece and nephew. I do not care at all about crowds because I am with the people I absolutely adore and for me I am truly blessed to be able to do this every year with them. Hey, who is going to be there at the same time :cheer2:

IMO,you only posted here to get a reaction. I just sure hope that you managed to pretend just a bit for your kids sake. Not too sure why you needed this attention but dont worry --the dissers are happy to help you out!! :wave2:

:lmao: *snort*
That reminds me of a comment by my non-Disney lovin' BIL before we went to Disney- he said he would like to take his kids to places like Italy and Peru :lmao: WHY! They are 2 and 5! I can see when your kids get a bit older and understand more and would enjoy the different cultures but for now.....I think The World Showcase is enough culture for pre-teens...maybe even some adults! :rotfl:

OH- and I just need to share another comment BIL made while IN Disney. He knows I go on these boards so he said he is going to make a club called "DAD"--- Dads Against Disney! I am sure th OP can be VP!

But the final reaction I felt from all of this was:

:grouphug: WE ARE ALL SO HAPPY AND LUCKY THAT WE LOVE DISNEY, WE ACTUALLY FEEL SORRY FOR PEOPLE LIKE THE OP THAT JUST DONT GET IT AND WE DO!!! pixiedust:

I just learned a lesson that I will not waste my time even trying to get one of "those" people to understand!- You either have the feeling from the start ...or you dont. (in most cases anyway!) I will just step over "them" on my way to the WORLD! :dance3:

MOVE IT OR LOSE IT PEOPLE! :moped:

GodIHatedDisneyWorld:

Sorry about the experience. Yes, I do respect and acknowledge your opinion, but if you want an genuine and open response, don't be insulting! Where did this come from??

Show a little empathy, at least. You may find that it will help you enjoy WDW better next time you go!

Happy Holidays!

I can't believe that this thread is still going. :sad2:

Bravo OP, you got a reaction out of all of us... but it just makes me LOVE Disney even more... I just feel really sorry for your kids. I do hope they enjoyed themselves even if you did not. And I will have the time of my life too, with all my loved ones beside me.... :cool1:
