Back from Disney World, a few thoughts and comments...

This was a tough week for me. I am not a Theme Park guy, and really didn't want to go at all.

But, the wife and kids all were up for it, so I went along for the ride, all the time thinking that for the same money, we could be in Paris cruising the Seine.

So, Disney World is top shelf, anything they do, they do right. From getting you out of the parking lot to the smallest construction details, the physical plant is top shelf.

The crowds were outrageous, the lines were stupid, and the cost of everything from food to junk was ridiculous.

We are talking $42/day just to get into the park, six people six days, the admission tickets were $1500 for us. Add on airfare, hotel and food, and we easily could have gone someplace magnificent for the same money.

All in all, Grumpy hated it and everybody else loved it.

I sure don't expect anyone here to agree with me, but this was the most torturous seven days of my life.

Please please people, go somewhere else on your vacation.

Perhaps, instead of everyone else going somewhere else, you should go somewhere else and let your family go to WDW themselves.

Everyone has different opinions about what they like or dislike, not sure why you would come onto a Disney board and complain other than to :stir: , which probably won't work either.

I will pray for you.
You act like you did not know what to expect from Disney and the Parks, hello, do you expect the prices of fast food and junk to be reasonable or a bit more costly, did you complain to your wife and kids on this issue. I am sorry but if you think this post will defer anyone from going, you are wrong.

May i suggest using this board to plan, research and inquire and if you visit disney again, your experience may be different. We spend every other December in Florida, out of the month, i devote 3 days to disney parks and the rest elsewhere, but i know what to expect from disney.

No be fair and nice, he is entitled to post how he feels, we do not all need to agree, but he is entitled.

:confused3 Why are you telling Disney fanatics not to go.
While you would rather be in Paris, some of these Disney lovers would never want to go there....except maybe the Disney park there.

Barking up the wrong tree here at DIS

Maybe it would have helped if instead of not looking forward to the trip and really not wanting to go, you could have looked forward to the trip and spending time with your family. You've got to make the best of the situation your in and having a positive frame of mind would help, you don't have to like where you are at to have a good time. Just a thought.

Is anyone else sick of the trolls popping up every other day on here?

:lmao: Sorry 'bout your luck!

no, seriously, reminded of my husband on our honeymoon. don't get the wrong idea, I planned the wedding, he planned the honeymoon. he's definitely a "mountains and lakes" kinda a guy, but, as he stated to his best friend when he asked where we were going, "I know, but I'm marrying a girl, what am I suppose to do?" So, we headed to an all inclusive in the Bahamas. Could he have spent the money elsewhere? sure. Would he have enjoyed the activities available a little more? maybe But, he was stuck taking his wife on a honeymoon just like you were stuck taking your family on a family vacation. He looked at things a little differently. Not his first choice in a "real vacation", but a great choice for a honeymoon.

Disney for us is not a vacation. Vacation is rest, relaxation, nothing we have to do, no place we have to be. Disney will be a family adventure, something new around every corner.

Actually, after answering the thread that is what I was thinking. So sad!

You know what, that's what should have made all that you "suffered" worth it if the rest of your family had a blast! Be happy that they had a wonderful time even if you couldn't go where *you* wanted to go. I make "sacrifices" so that my hubby can be happy as I know he does the same for me. Sorry, but I don't feel sorry for you.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Sorry, but I'd rather go no where else for my vacation besides Disney World. I should change my name on here to GodILoveWDW because I do.

What makes me wonder is why he would even bother to take the time to post on a Disney board? Who knows...I'm glad his kids and his wife enjoyed the trip. Hopefully next time they can go without him and he can go someplace else that will make him happy! :confused3

I just hope for your family's sake you were not surly during your vacation. As a part of a family we all particapate in some activity or another that we don't like but we do it because we love each other. I would never complain or ruin an experience for my husband or children because I was unhappy. I think that would be selfish and immature. I know everyone doesn't like Disney but I would think for your family you could suck it up for a week.

~~Just my opinion~~

Well, I can agree with you on this one...It would make WDW a lot less crowded for me and my family! :teeth:
Sorry you had a bad time. WDW can be totally overwhelming and even, yes, awful, for those unprepared. It's definitely not a destination to be taken lightly!
Here's hoping lots of people take your advice so the rest of us can get right on all the attractions! :sunny:

Only thing I can say is that I bet if you were in Paris, your kids would of been thinking, "God I wish I were in Disney World!" If you didn't exactly enjoy the experience, then couldn't you of realized that your wife and kids must of liked it, and enjoyed watching them be happy? We all have to do things that we don't exactly enjoy because it makes someone we love be happy.

You know, the sad thing is that with the smallest, tiny, itsy-bitsy little bit of research, you wouldn't have been there during one of the most expensive and crowded times of year, or you would have at least been educated about what to expect.

Maybe for your next trip, you can find the online information about the place beforehand, to avoid this sort of situation, instead of finding it afterwards to complain about the situation you got yourself into?

I don't mean to sound so harsh, but WHY do people do this? Do you go to a car dealership, walk in, and hand them money for a car, without even looking around or test driving? No, you check out what's available, find what suits your needs, try a few different ones out, do some research, and make an educated decision that you know you'll be happy with.

Guess we will not get many posts from you.

Different strokes for different folks, they say.

This reminds me of some friends of ours. They went to WDW the year before we did. They complained about several things, didn't like the food, etc., etc.

My family went and had a blast. I guess it depends on two things. What types of things you enjoy, and your attitude going into it.

We are already thinking about our next trip to WDW...can't wait! :cool1:

Everyone's entitled to their opinion . . . but starting an anti-Disney thread on the DIS is the equivalent of going to a parenting bulletin board and telling all the parents how stupid they were for having children. If you hated Disney so much, why are you hanging out on a board full of Disney fans? Just wondering.
