I took pictures of items I wanted with my iPhone as I shopped for other people and sent them to my husband with the name of the store. He told me that it helped him a lot. He would just go into the store and ask the salesperson for help locating the item. Took all the stress off of him and he loved it. :thumbsup2

I was expecting a very depressing Christmas this year because Ive always been able to buy my kids pretty much whatever they wanted for Christmas along with nice gifts for hubby and myself. However, this year has been very rough financially and I was extra worried that because we had to significantly cut back on spending it wouldnt be a very happy Christmas for the kids. Well I picked up stocking stuffers here and there for the past 3 months and done the same with gifts. By the time Christmas morning got here everything was great. Now granted we didnt have a whole living room full of gifts to open but what the kids had they actually liked and were happy with. Hubby and I didnt do gifts for each other at all but seeing the kids having a wonderful time was good enough by far for me.

And this came on top of us not having any power or hot water for over a week due to the huge blizzard we had last Friday night.

It was different but it was good. :thumbsup2

What a great idea! I'll ask family & friends to do this next year; it'll be a win/win situation: they'll get exactly what they want, and I won't have to do anything but pay for it & take it out of (the dreaded :scared1:) mall!

I did something similar - I posted on my MIL's facebook in box about 30 different links of items for the kiddos - in all price ranges . She got several things off the list for the kids - it worked out so nice.

And then for my mom I did all the shopping so we got what we wanted - LOL she had surgery 10days before Christmas so she couldn't get out & shop so I shopped for 5 grandkids for her.

I work in a department store over Christmas and I've had some husbands/boyfriends go to a lot of trouble this year!

One guy said that he and his wife walked round the store, and as she pointed out things she liked, he quickly took a picture with his I-phone when she wasn't looking. He came up to me with his phone and just showed me the handbags on there - it was so much easier for me to help him!

Another guy had gone into his wife's closet and written down the names of the designer bags she had...he'd even measured them so he could tell me the size she liked! It was great, I knew which designer to pick for him and the size - he even called the store today to tell me she loved the bag!

So much easier than when guys come in and say "I'm looking for a handbag for my wife..." and that's all the information you get!

This is a great idea. Step 1) Ask for an iPhone for Xmas 2010. Step 2) Take pics of stuff DW wants & buy it for Xmas 2011;)
