The original poster mentioned that cheerleaders had an unwritten rule that they are expected to date jocks. I am just in awe that that's really the case. Jocks and cheerleaders don't go together at my school.

Then I'm moving to your school! The jocks at my school are jerks! About the other cheerleaders at my school it's true. It's so sad though! They are little *******. That's why only one of the cheerleaders is my real friend. She is actually against the "rule". All my other friends are just normal people who aren't cheerleaders and I'm glad. BTW about the guys that cheerleaders do date that I avoid at my school. I mean seriously who wants to date some guy you know is going to get expelled tomorrow?

Generally over here, you date who you like, of course if it's mutual.
Stereotypes aren't as strong because there aren't cheerleaders in my school right now, and it's not big deal next year. Jocks are guys who play sports, I don't know many guys that don't (I know some don't) and it wouldn't matter anyways.

I can sympathize about coward boyfriends. My ex-byfriend "John" had the girl he was cheating on me with call me to say it was over between us. Heh. That was a little bit of a shock. He ended up with a pretty black eye and a broken nose the next day.
