I am trying to make some decisions regarding the house that my dad owned in VT and it's upkeep until I move there in approx. 3 yrs. There is a HUGE maple tree quite close to the house and garage. It is over 50 yrs old and very tall. I worry that it will get hit by lightning, or split on its own from disease, etc. I have an estimate to cut it down. I wonder if anyone can tell me if it is a good deal. $2600. That will entail bringing in a bucket truck and removal of all debris except the stump which will be extra. The guy is insured.
Does it sound good?
