After 3 months and lots of phone calls to check all availability, I just called and canceled my wait list for our November trip. We're at SSR Nov 6-7-8 and BLT Nov 9-10-11. I never could string together those first three nights in any other 2br at BLT (I have SV dedicated for my BLT stay), or any other DVC property other than OKW. The 8th has been the killer!

Anyhow, with almost everything booked solid and my banking deadline next Wednesday, I figured there really was no hope left, so why prolong things and take a chance forgetting to bank, so I did one last check and banked my 75 remaining points.

So I'm bummed a bit, but it's such a "made up" problem so I have to break it down a little:

  • We're still going on vacation, which is a luxury in and of itself (especially in this economy).
  • We're going to Disney for the 2nd time this year as a family, for my 3rd time this year, and my 4th Disney park visit this year (went to DLP for a day during a solo trip to Paris this spring).
  • I managed to get all the ADRs I wanted, including an Illuminations party cruise.
  • We're able to treat my sister and her family to wonderful accommodations.
  • My sister and I are celebrating our birthdays (on the same day).
  • I was able to save 20% off my gift of airfare for my sister, her DH and DS2 thanks to swabikedude's generous sharing of promotional codes last month.
  • Our Owner's Lockers will help us feel comfy and make packing easier.
  • I bought tickets from Undercover Tourist before the price increase, so I'll be saving about $125 when I upgrade them to new APs.
  • I have 11 $25 gift cards to spend thanks to the AP pass along program.
  • And we're all happy and healthy and will have a wonderful time together.

Doesn't sound like much of a problem after all when I think about it that way! If this is the worst thing going for me right now, I am pretty darned fortunate! :goodvibes

Good luck to all those who are holding waitlists right now, and if they don't come through, I hope you still have magical vacations! :wizard:

Good for you - you made lemonade!

Enjoy the trip!

Have an amazing journey :) Great attitude -- we should all take steps back and things aren't as big as we may them.

Great attitude!!! You make it sound absolutely fabulous which, it truly is....compared to what many people are experiencing in this economy.

Excellent points :thumbsup2 when counting many blessings 'troubles' seem few !! How special you and your DSis sharing bday's at WDW :goodvibes you'll all have an awesome time :woohoo:

Looks to me like you've got a wonderful vacation on the horizon - regardless of waitlist. Have a great time!:rotfl:

Wonderful attitude! Looks like it may be a busy week afterall. We check in on Nov 8th at AKV.:woohoo:

Hope you have a good time,, amazing what we sometimes complain about when in reality we have it much better than many in this country and most people around the world. guess we can deal with a sometimes less than perfect view.

Thanks everyone for the nice responses. :) I realized I've been stressing about making this the "perfect" trip because it's my and my sister's birthday (we were born 8 years and 3 hours apart) and her 2yo son's first trip to WDW. But you know what? It'll just have to be "perfect enough" - no such thing as really perfect anyway, so why make myself crazy?

My friends and I joke that this is a "rich person's problem" - no, we're not rich ;) but it's one of those problems that is so far from being a problem it isn't funny. Like "Oh, I could only get *part* of my vacation at BLT" or "I can't decide which case to get for my iPhone" or "My Netflix movie didn't arrive today!" You know, really earth-shattering stuff ;) that only comes up when you already have a certain level of life-comfort and affluence. Yesterday I took a huge box of all our Disney and other kids' VHS tapes to the YWCA - seeing the women and their children who are living there temporarily was a powerful reminder of how fortunate I really am.

Anyhow, it's always good to take a step back and remember what's really important. I highly recommend it! :thumbsup2
