What is the backup plan for the location currently holding the Luigi's Flying Tires attraction?

The first incarnation of this ride (Tomorrowland’s Flying Saucers) only lasted 5 years from 1961 through 1966. There is a reason the ride didn’t make it the first time at Disneyland; high operating costs, intensive maintenance, low guest capacity.

So what will be different this time? Or is this simply a temporary attraction with plans for something bigger to come later on?

This is not your mother's flying saucers. The ride vehicle seat 2 (not one) and remember air hockey came into existence in 1972 with the development of better frictionless surfaces. The 'glide' technology really didn't exist 50 years ago. The attraction was highlighted on the disney parks blog

Don't know if I'm too late in the day - but I'd like to know if they plan a time frame after summer to tweak or refurb the 3 rides after the summer crowds.

We hope to go in Oct. or first week of Nov. and the whole reason we are going back then is for Carsland. If they had any of Carsland shut down after the summer use/abuse I wish we could know in advance.

I'll post more later but we just finished and that was seriously the BEST Disney thing I've ever experienced.

However... No firm answer on RSR height requirement! Best I could get was that it should be the same as Test Track. Sorry!

I worry about that also..I remember the original flying tires..so cool when they worked!! So..hope they can keep them going this time.
