DH and I are doing an on the fly trip in 7 sleeps.

Traditionally, we do 2 MK, 2 EP, 1 HS, and 1 AK for a 6 day trip.

I was doing my touring plans and realized I cannot do everything I want to do at EP, MK, and HS in 1 day so we gave up our day at AK.

It's sad because the things we like there we REALLY like: FotLK, KS, Pandora, Nemo, and EE.

But I just couldn't see giving a whole day of our trip even if it was to our favorite park because there is so little to occupy us there. I can't ride FoP and we don't like Kali. And for the first time, a visit there didn't seem worth it.

We skipped AK our last two trips and have missed it so much. This trip we were going to skip HS but finally added a day so we can get a partial day in there. We actually like the food the most at AK and have not seen the kite show at all - now it isn’t even really a show (we know what it is and we actually thought it was pretty cool looking online ). Sadly we are going arrival day so that will cut it short but our priorities are lion king, Nemo, satuli canteen, safari so we can do all that. But we really want to do it all lol. MY have to upgrade to hoppers if necessary

Good decision because I worked it in with grandchildren and the Expedition Everest was down all morning and only 3 shows for the newly returned Nemo Show … literally got so desparate we entered the Tough to be a bug walk in extreme heat It did not cool down as we walked “underground” I have never sweated that much.
It was pure ****

I really love AK but I understand why people skip it. On my May trip, I was able to ride every ride minus the Triceratops Spin by 1 pm (bought the ILL for FOP and no Genie+ for everything else. Rode Everest 3 times). I think it needs at least 2-3 more rides. I don't care about the Nemo show or It's Tough to be a Bug and I like Lion King just fine. On my family trip in December, we are skipping HS and AK to go to Universal instead.

Are you saying Animal Kingdom is your favorite park, and you going to WDW parks for six days without going to your favorite park? I'd say if this is true, maybe it's not actually your favorite park.

I like that AK doesn't have as much to fill the time. But, I also have kids who would be happy chasing butterflies at Disney.
I get it though. Our next trip is being funded by my parents for my Mom's birthday. She wants to stay at the Beach Club, because she loves that area, but she has a bit of sticker shock at the cost. Plus, my sister says that her family will probably not be up for a full week at the parks, so my Mom decided to book 5 nights. She also wants to give my Dad the opportunity to go to Universal, so I decided to do that with them and stay on property at Universal for the first time rather than do a split stay at Disney. We will probably head to Disney early in the morning the day we check in at the Beach Club, and do a 5th day in the parks that way.
I'll be watching the deals though. Since we're a family of 6, the included universal express pass doesn't work so well as a cost offset. It might make more sense to stay at Disney, and spread the 5 days out differently.

Telling me it's not my favorite park because of my choice is the equivalent of telling me that the Contemporary must NOT BE my FAVORITE resort because I chose not to stay there this time.

No one is telling you anything. We are trying to understand why you would prefer six different days at parks other than your favorite. Your analogy doesn't make sense because people don't switch resorts daily or have the option to resort hop.

I would add park hopper and do AK one morning or evening. Or add on a day to the trip and do AK. I couldn’t imagine going for 6 days and not going to all 4 parks.

I don't think it's the end of the world. We usually will sometimes alternate skipping AK and DHS on trips and while we love FOP and EE, we know there's not much else we really love. I'm not sure what your TP are exactly but do you feel like you really need two days at Epcot?
