Two days ago, a wonderful gift basket full of chocolate arrived at work.

In it was amazing things like little petit fours, chocolate, non pariels, and chocolate covered pretzels.. all was fantastic.

Then, the best snack ever. I wasn't sure if I was going to try it, but when I did, WOW!!!!

It was....

chocalate covered potato chips. Yes, sounds disgusting, but it was fantastic. It was really thick ridged potato chips dipped in chocalate. It was sweet, salty, and chocalate all in one.

I joked with the other teachers that a woman definetely created this snack.

How funny...before I read your answer, I had a guess in my mind you were going to say Swoops, the Chocolate covered potato chips...and I was RIGHT!

Wow, maybe i'll go play the lottery tonight.

They are wonderful, aren't they?? I've only had them once, and i'm otherwise on a low carb diet, but that one time was enough, they are wonderful. I love salty foods/chocolate. One of my old faves was chocolate and movie popcorn.

Swoops are NOT chocolate covered potato chips (although they DO look like choco-covered pringles) but sadly, they are not - but they are still VERY yummy.

I would LOVE to find some chocolate covered potato chips...sounds sooooo stinkin' yummy.

I bet they don't have any calories either! (I wish);)

it dont sound good, we dont like it

oo-ooo

next time you are at Friendly's (do they have those around you?) ask for a side of hot fudge with your french fries!

so stinkin' yummy...especially if the fries are very hot and very salty.

I've seen choc. covered potato chips in supermarkets around the holidays but they were expensive. I'll tell you what's really good, McDonalds french fries dipped in a choc. milkshake. DH thinks it's gross but it's been my favorite since I was little. YUMMY :p

I make chocolate covered potato chips and white chocolate covered pretzels every holiday season for my co-workers. They are always a big hit and soooooooooooo easy to make!

A variation on the Hot Fudge & fries.... instead of a MickeyD's chocolate shake, we do the Hot Fudge Sundae & Fries. This was the afternoon snack for the adults in our party for our road trip to Disney a few months ago! What the heck - it was vacation!

Chocolate-covered chips sound YUMMY! That'll be right up there with the chocolate dipped pretzels & the "reindeer food" (chow mein noodles in chocolate) I crave at holiday time.

ok - please tell me - what was the best chocolate/chip combination that you've found?

I mean - i guess you have to use a chip that will stand up to the heavy weight of the chocolate.

did you use something like Wilton melting chocolate?

thanks!

I eat these whenever I can find them.... they retail for $10.95 a pound at candy stores IF they have them.

Dark chocolate are the only ones I like.... over big, thick ridged chips like the OP mentioned.

Ok, now I have to go melt a Dark Chocolate Dove egg on a potato chip..... LOL!

The chocolate I use is Evans melting chocolate - you can find it in the baking aisle. For the potatoe chips I use regular ruffles. They stand up to the dipping really well.

Chocolate covered potato chip does sound yummy. I have been known to eat potato chips and a hershey bar at the same time. DH thinks I am nuts when I eat them.

Were they made with ripple chips? One of the secretary's in my husband's office makes rhem as a side line, and you are right, they are to die for.

But the last batch we bought from her were made with plain chips as she was unable to find the Pringles ridges. They were a bit disappointing.

Used to eat ridge potato chips and kisses...mmmmm

My friend makes them - I'll have to be nice to her and see if she'll do some for me, to have my kids give me for Mother's Day! :)
