I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

In behind again...but I think only one update.

Add us to the list of really disliking Hollywood & Vine, but both our meals were dinner. To me, breakfast is harder to mess up. And you'll have a very happy son with the characters.

The rest of the days plans sound great.

No worries! I understand. :goodvibes

I'm really hoping we'll be safe with breakfast. Reid is going to be so excited to see these characters we've never met before. I can't wait to see his face!

The rest of the days plans sound great.

Thank you!!

I have two trips going in my head! I totally understand!:goodvibes

Reid's karate class sounds so cute! Little Ninjas, I love it!

It seems like I'm in a perpetual Disney-planning mode. :rotfl: I told Ed my idea for 2014 & he was like that is so far away. I said really it's not. Since I'm looking at May 2014, that is less than 2 years. And it's not like I'm doing any serious planning for it yet. But, I am trying to figure out how it could work logistically. That way, once it does get closer, I can start the real planning! :rotfl2:

Thanks! I really hope he enjoys it because they teach a lot of good things: self defense (of course) but they also focus on a different principle each class like: memory, balance, focus, discipline, etc. I think it will do him a lot of good at home & once he enters school. He's very excited for his 1st class tomorrow. He just came up to me while I was typing to show me the things the Sensai taught him on Friday. :goodvibes

I think that's completely reasonable!

It sounds like a really great program! All of those principles sound like great things for him to learn. I will have to see if there is anything like that in our area. That's so adorable that he's showing off his moves already!

Congrats on the nap success!

I'll bet that Reid will love the Little Ninja classes! You have to post pics of him in his uniform.

Maddie's ballet classes last year were of the super strict variety. It took a few classes for her to adjust, but once she did everything was great. It think that the discipline was great for her and even helped out with her behavior at home a little. (gotta get her signed up for dance classes very soon :lmao:). I hope that you guys like the classes!

I've had a few people tell me that karate is really good, especially for boys. I'm excited & nervous to see how his 1st class goes tomorrow.

Congrats on the nap success!

Thanks! I was so happy he actually went to sleep.

I'll definitely post a picture for y'all! I really hope it goes well.

I really think/hope it will help with some behavioral issues at home. Or at least that's what I'm hoping after the time I had with him tonight. :headache:

Hi! Thanks for the kinds words about the DD's! I just wanted to say, all your talk of running inspired me the other night to get back out there. I ran for about 10 minutes straight!:thumbsup2 Then had to walk... but it felt really good to be running again. I have't really done it since before DD3. :goodvibes

Hi there! You are so welcome! :goodvibes

That's so awesome that you got out for a run! :thumbsup2 To me, the hardest part is getting back out there & establishing a routine. This past week, I didn't run at all. :( I went out today at lunch to run because it was very cloudy. Well, not long into my run, the midday sun broke out in full force, my shoes came untied & my phone quit working. :confused3 All of those things completely got to me & I trucked it home after only completing half my run (17 mins). But, at least I did part of it! I'll get back out there tomorrow. I hope you're able to get back into it! :)

Good for you Jen

It's taken me a while but I'm all caught up. 42 pages woo! Anyway I have enjoyed reading so far. Mr. Smee is the only character I could get my DH to agree to due to the high temps in Oct. so now I have to figure out myself and DDs who are 8 & 3. We are thinking Tinkerbelle for the little one.
We always have trouble figuring out a touring plan in HS too. My DH likes to go "door to door" so to speak but that doesn't work well because of all the set show times in HS. In order to get them all in you have to zip around, back and forth. Before your breakfast grab a map with show times and while your eating figure out a game plan for the day to hit the shows you want and squeeze rides in between too. We have been twice and both days DH were nit really speaking to one another by the end of the day. Lol

Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to catch up. I know how hard that can be sometimes.

I'm very happy with our costume theme for the party. Ed is even happy with how his costume is coming along. Hmmm.....as for y'all costumes....I like the idea of the youngest DD being Tinkerbell. For you & your other DD.....maybe one could be Wendy & one could be Hook? Or maybe you oldest DD could be Peter Pan? :confused3

That's a good idea about getting the map & schedule on our way to our H&V ADR. Hopefully, I'll remember to grab it. I don't know why but I always seem to forget to grab those things. Luckily, Ed does it a lot of the times.

I think everyone's experienced a day or moment when you're not talking to your significant other in the park. :rotfl:

Hi, Everybody! Hope y'all had a great weekend!

Reid begged us to take him bowling (he's never been). So, we took him for his 1st trip to the bowling alley. Here he is learning to bowl:

On Friday, we signed up Reid for 3 trial classes at a local karate studio. Monday was his 1st night. Here he is in his uniform:

He said he enjoyed the class. He was kind of crazy in it though. He did a lot of spinning & throwing himself on the ground. :sad2: Towards the end, he was starting to focus better. His Sensai called me today & thinks he can continue to do better with focusing. So, we will see how he does tomorrow night.

Anywhoooo......back to the Disney plans!

On my last update, I was discussing our morning in DHS. H&V breakfast, TSM, some other rides & lunch @ Starring Rolls.

After lunch, I'm thinking we'll head over to Sunset Boulevard. I'd like to grab FP's for either.....

OR

Now, let me take a moment to discuss ToT & Reid. Last year, he screamed & cried that he wanted to ride that ride. He wasn't tall enough. Well, he has been going on & on about how he is tall enough now. I know lots of little ones ride this & love it (yes Roni, I'm talking about Willow :rotfl: ). But, I am scared for him to try this. Why? I'm pretty sure one of two things will happen.

1. He will get completely terrified in line & scream & cry & I'll have to take him out. Admittedly, not the worst case scenario.

OR

2. He will muster enough courage to ride & then scream holy terror the entire time. Reid does not even like it when Ed throws him in the air & catches him. So....um....yeah.

Ok, y'all tell me: Would you let him try it or try to talk him out of it? Be honest!

Anyway, once we have FP's, I'd like to go here:

Reid has not seen this yet & I think he may be old enough to sit still & enjoy it now. Maybe. But, I know I'll love it!

After this, we'll maybe trek back over to Star Tours & do that again if he'd like. Maybe we'll take him on the Great Movie Ride or the Backlot Tour. He hasn't done those either.

Then, hopefully, we'll be able to use up whatever FP's we have. I'd also like to fit in the Disney Junior show at some point also. And maybe even watch the parade.....if Reid agrees. I also want to grab slushies from the sweet shop (I always forget the name) next to Starring Rolls. I love those slushies!

Then, I want to head to the Animation Building. Last year, we missed Characterpalooza but we did it in Dec 2010 & met some fun characters. I'm really hoping we can meet Hook, Smee & Mary Poppins. We've seen them there before but didn't get to meet them.

Once we're done meeting some fun Disney friends, we will head on over to Pizza Planet for dinner. Ed & I have eaten there before & it's just fine with us. I think Reid will like it. Of course, I know he's going to want to play games so I'm trying to prepare myself for that.

Initially, I had a 430pm ADR for Mama Melrose for the F! package. I cancelled it because I just don't think Reid will enjoy the show yet. It's funny - he can watch all sorts of superhero shows & not be scared by the bad guys. But Disney villains scare the daylights out of him. :confused3

So, instead of doing Fantasmic, we will probably just hit up whatever rides we want to do again that don't have ridiculous wait times. The park closes at 8pm this day. We'll probably stay until close & then head out to go home to OKW.

Ok, first of all, Reid is absolutely ADORABLE!!!!!!!! :goodvibes

Your DHS plans sound great! I think he willl enjoy Beauty and the Beast. There's lots of colors and singing, and the action moves along quickly!

As for the "scary" rides, hmmm, it's hard to say what will happen. My brothers (6 and 10 at the time) wanted to go on RnRC, so I got in line with them while my dad and step mom waited. Well, after a 75 min wait in the blazing June weather, we got right up to the loading station and their stomachs dropped. They said no way Jose, and begged to get out!! :lmao: :furious: Oh, I was not happy!! I even tried explaining the ride to them, but the screaming take off just scared them. To avoid a situation like that, I would just explain everything in detail to him. Let him know why the loud music is playing and why people scream. There's no way of telling what the little mind cooks up in there, and my brothers just talked themselves out of it!

It's worth a shot to try to get him on them! RnRC may be more fun for him since it's not as "creepy" as ToT, but it depends on his personality! Good luck!! :thumbsup2

OMG Reid is so cute in all his pictures! I can just picture him at Karate. :rotfl2: My boys would have done the same thing.

Not sure about ToT. It's hard to say. My kids were 6 and 8 the first time we went to Disney, so they were ready for everything and they rode everything. I think I would just play it by ear and take his lead. I've seen some pretty small kids on that ride who didn't bat an eye.

Could Reid be any cuter? Adorable pictures!

I would let him try to ride. (But, you know that I bribe my kid on rides :rolleyes1). If he says he wants to when he sees it, let him give it a go. Maddie was too shocked to scream the first time she rode if that helps. :rotfl:

I think skipping the F! package in favor of Characterpalooza sounds like a great plan. We always miss it due to dinner ADRs, and it's the one thing that I wish I could change about the DHS days that I've planned.

Thanks! I do think he'll enjoy Beauty & the Beast. I've missed it the last 2 trips so I'm excited to get to see it again.

Oh man! I would not have been happy. I've tried explaining the ride to him. I just never know if he fully understands since he's still kind of young. I've shown him YouTube videos of other rides to prepare him (like BTMRR). But, there aren't any good videos of ToT since it's so dark.

It's worth a shot to try to get him on them! RnRC may be more fun for him since it's not as "creepy" as ToT, but it depends on his personality! Good luck!! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I do think he's still too short for RNRC, I'll have to double check. I do know that he's tall enough for ToT but i just don't know that he's ready. I think the room you go into to watch the video will freak him out.

OMG Reid is so cute in all his pictures! I can just picture him at Karate. :rotfl2: My boys would have done the same thing.

Thank you!!! It really is cute watching them do their little karate moves. I'm so glad to hear that. I felt like my son was some sort of wild child watching him next to the other kids.

I think that's what I'm going to do. Who knows, by the time we get there, he may be insistent that he DOESN'T want to ride it. He does have a tendency to change his mind...a lot. :rotfl:

I think you're right - I should let him try if he wants. I don't know why I'm so nervous about him trying this ride. :confused3 That's too funny that Maddie didn't even scream. Maybe Reid will have the same reaction. :thumbsup2

Thanks! Part of me really wanted to try Mama Melrose but I think Characterpalooza is a better choice for us at this point. I just hope we get to meet some cool characters or some we've never met before.

In 2010 my then 6 year old insisted on riding ToT, I thought she was to young for such a scary ride but she did it. We were back at Christmas and she absolutely refused and says no to riding in October. The que and pre show stuff is to spooky for her. If she could skip all that and just hop on the ride she probably would. That being said take Reid and if he freaks early on take the chicken exit if he handles the pre show then the ride will probably be ok too. Plan to buy the picture at the end.

Noelle.

When Faith was 4, she insisted on trying ToT. I was hesitant because Stephen did it when he was 6 and didn't like it at all. We let her try and now it's her favorite ride. Maybe you can show Reid some YouTube videos and see if he is still interested. If he is...I say go for it. He's 4, right? And I'll bet he'll sit through Beauty and the Beast. It's a GREAT show and not that long.
