I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

OMG! This made me :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

My favorite is him deciding to act like a zombie! :lmao:

I haven't had any rides yet where I've had to coax Reid on to them. Well, when we went to Islands of Adventure in Dec 2010 (Reid was 2 1/2), Ed & I both wanted to ride the Harry Potter ride. Obviously, Reid was too small & still is. But, they have a child swap. So, all 3 of us got in line. Reid was enjoying walking through the castle grounds. Until we got into the castle. Then, he wasn't so sure. So, I bribed him with chocolate - "If you'll stay & let Mommy & Daddy take turns riding, I'll buy you chocolate after lunch." And he did! I went first & then Ed. Now, he likes to tell everyone that he was brave & "rode Harry Potter." :rotfl:

That's funny that Chad missed it. Ed will tolerate it for me.

:rotfl2: It was something! Here am I bawling because he's graduating and he's up there being a zombie!

Love the Harry Potter story! Too cute. I think bribery is great for getting kids on rides and getting them to do things in general sometimes:rolleyes1

I'm glad Reid did well at karate and that he likes it! I love hearing about your family and Reid is so cute. I have really enjoyed chatting and getting to know everyone. I never belonged to an online forum before this either but I have really enjoyed my time "talking" to other moms here.:grouphug:

Oh yes, I knew you would be all for him trying it out! :rotfl2: Maybe I should have Willow call him that morning to give him a ToT pep talk. :lmao: I'm definitely going to take your suggestions & see if that helps him out. Yesterday, he told me he no longer wants to try it. But, the next minute, he was playing ToT with his superhero action figures. :rotfl: So, we'll see what happens.
I will have Willow give him a ring! :thumbsup2

Seriously, you know your son better than anyone. You will know what to do when you get there.

OMG! This just cracks me up! I really hope you got soe good pics or video of this. :rotfl2:

Yeah, I have resorted to bribery a time or two. :rolleyes1

Thank you so much! I have to say it's been so nice getting know all of y'all. Everyone is just so sweet & supportive. :goodvibes

I will have Willow give him a ring! :thumbsup2

Wouldn't you just love to listen in on that phone call? :lmao:

Seriously, you know your son better than anyone. You will know what to do when you get there.

I know you're right. This is the only ride I'm stressed about him trying. I don't even know why really. I did show him a good video of it this afternoon & he was very excited. What's hard to show on the ToT videos is how fast it drops you. Know what I mean? :confused3

So guess who is playing catch up again? I no more get caught up on one thread and I fall behind on another. I am sorry...:flower3:

So let me give you just a few comments....

I will have to take your advice and see the movie! I love super hero movies...so if you think this one is good then I am in!

What are the new shoes you got? I have been needing new shoes, but honestly have put off because going in and having someone tell me what shoes I should buy kinda scares me. We did a fitting for dd once, and those were the worst shoes (and most expensive) that she has ever owned. I just yesterday (after a ton of research and trying on a bunch of shoes) got a new pair. Ran with them today!!!

No dole whip? Shock! Horror! ;) Actually, it was not until my second trip to WDW that I even knew they existed. All those trips to DLR and I never knew. Well, I made sure to have one in DLR a few weeks ago! Some how though... still better in WDW. (or at least bigger)

But, I'm trying to remind myself that the sooner it gets here, the sooner it will be over

OMG, isn’t that the truth!!!

I think your plan to have Ed run to get your fast passes will work...either way.

Strategy on Starring Rolls... get there early. Both sandwiches and desserts (yes, they have things other than cupcakes) sell out early.

Just having been at DLR and having done a couple character meals, I was struck with an odd difference between the two parks... you mentioned settling the bill early at H&V... well, at DLR... you don’t even get seated until you pay the bill...and the bill includes tip. I do so not like having a predetermined tip. At the first one, the “list price” is like $26 per adult...but tax and tip take it up to $38!!!!! And just like in WDW, character meals tend to be buffet style

Very cool that the nap seemed to work well!!! I know that even I want to fall asleep while still in the parks late at night... poor little guys... I bet it is just so hard for them to stay awake.

Thurs, 9/27: We'll leave when my DH gets off of work & drive half way to WDW

Fri, 9/28: Go to Wide World of Sports, get race packets, check into POFQ, DTD that night & EoS for dinner

Sat, 9/29: I run the ToT 5K that morning, hang out @ the resort, Ed runs the ToT 10 miler than night & we're doing the Villains Bash party

Sun, 9/30: Move to OKW; MNSSHP that night. We will be dressing up as Wendy Darling (me), Mr. Smee (Ed) and Cpt. Hook (Reid).

Mon, 10/1: spend most of the day @ Islands of Adventure; that night Reid will go to the Neverland Club while Ed & I have a date night at Citricos

Tues, 10/2: 730am ADR @ 'Ohana; entire day spent @ MK

Wed, 10/3: 8am ADR @ Hollywood & Vine; lunch @ Starring Rolls

And my next update will be the rest of our day @ DHS

I love the recap! Friday we will also be picking up our race packets. Saturday, we will also be at the race in the morning for dd in the 400meter...then we have the 10 miler and the villians bash. I think I will likely spend a chunk of time at the resot (POFQ) too. Sunday, MNSSHP (no idea on costumes yet) Tuesday we will spend most of the day in MK.. actually, now that I think about it I think we will be there all day. We are sure to cross paths!!!

Hmm.. Reid and ToT... :scratch Well, if he really get spooked easily maybe not. However, my dd has LOVED this ride. It is her favorite. She to be tossed about though. I think you know your kid better than anyone. No matter what we all say... take him... talk him out of it... Ultimately, you know what you need/want to do. So.. .my advice... you go with your gut. If you feel it will be horrible... then you are probably right. However, I am sure that if you are just “worrying too much” that you know that you are. Again... just go with your gut.

Wait, there is a slushie place next to Starring rolls???? I love slushie/smoothie drinks. I know I like KNRR? (not sure if those are the actual call sign letters...but it is the stand near Rockn rollercoaster)

That convo would be awesome! :lmao:

You know, I am not sure of it seems fast to kids. To Willow she just loves that she ends up airborne. It makes her laugh her head off. You could tell him about that - then he would be looking forward to that part and the fact that it is fast would maybe not even register.

Isn't it so hard catching up on the DIS? I told Ed that's the only thing I dread about vacation.....being away from the DIS & trying to catch up upon returning home. :rotfl2:

So let me give you just a few comments....

I think it's definitely worth checking out! I love superhero movies, too!

I got the Asics Nimbus 14. I am really loving them! The gel support soles are awesome! How were your new shoes? Oh - and I only have 1 more run & then I will have completed the C25K program!

No dole whip? Shock! Horror! ;) Actually, it was not until my second trip to WDW that I even knew they existed. All those trips to DLR and I never knew. Well, I made sure to have one in DLR a few weeks ago! Some how though... still better in WDW. (or at least bigger)

I know, I should hide in shame! :sad2: Seems like I always hear people talking about how much better everything is at DLR, so I'm glad WDW has something better going for it. :rotfl:

OMG, isn’t that the truth!!!

I feel pretty confident that it will work out somehow. And since he loves TSMM too, he'll make sure he gets us FPs somehow.

Strategy on Starring Rolls... get there early. Both sandwiches and desserts (yes, they have things other than cupcakes) sell out early.

That is very good to know! Thank you! :thumbsup2

Yeah, I wouldn't like settling the bill before eating either. I was just planning on making an exception this once. Seems to me that if they have their customers always do that, it wouldn't motivate the servers to do an awesome job. How was the service?

Very cool that the nap seemed to work well!!! I know that even I want to fall asleep while still in the parks late at night... poor little guys... I bet it is just so hard for them to stay awake.

Yes, I was very happy to see that I could at least get him to fall asleep. Hopefully, it will work in Disney so that he can stay up for the parties.

Thanks! It definitely sounds like we're doing a lot of the same things! I really do think our paths will cross! :goodvibes

I think I'm going to try & just calm down about Reid trying this ride. If he wants to try it, then we shall. If he chickens out, that's ok.....we'll exit. If he screams bloody murder on the ride, that's okay too. Everyone there can give me their evil looks like I'm a horrible mother for putting my 4 year old on it. :rotfl2:

Wait, there is a slushie place next to Starring rolls???? I love slushie/smoothie drinks. I know I like KNRR? (not sure if those are the actual call sign letters...but it is the stand near Rockn rollercoaster)

It is the candy store next to it.....the one that connects to the store that sells villain merchandise. We discovered that they sell slushies one day last year. Reid was napping in his stroller (with a fan) but Ed & I were dying we were so hot. We walked through there just to get some A/C. I looked at the menu to see what they had to drink & saw they had slushies. We each got one & they were very good!!

That convo would be awesome! :lmao:

That's a good point! :thumbsup2 I'll have to make sure that I explain that part to him.

Hi! I know how you feel about talking about Reid...but it is true us moms can relate and love to hear about it! I like knowing I can come here and talk about my days with my DD's too.:flower3: I tried explaining this to DH, it's like there are friends close at hand, all the time!

:grouphug: That's exactly it! Dis friends are the bestest :flower3:

Happy, Happy Sunday Everybody!!! :goodvibes

I'm here on this Sunday morning to report another trip change to y'all! I know y'all didn't expect me to leave well enough alone. :lmao: I have made one dining change in the past couple of weeks, but I can't report on that yet since I haven't gotten to that day in our plans. But, I will let you know when I do.

The change I have to report is bigger than an ADR! Sooooooo......you know how we were staying at POFQ for the 1st two nights as our race resort? Yeah, well I changed it this morning. So, we will now be spending our 1st two nights here:

images

*Thank you for the picture internet!*

YES! We are staying at Beach Club!!!!

If you'll remember, I originally had us at Boardwalk for our race resort. So, why didn't I move us back there? Well, I like having the Marketplace there for lighter food options before our races & we won't have to walk a long way to get there. I also have recently gotten very interested in this resort. The more I see pictures of it, the prettier it looks to me. I am also considering these 2 nights as "research". I really want to plan our 2014 trip around Star Wars weekends. If we do go for that time, I think it would be best to stay at an Epcot resort.

So, how does this affect our dining plans? Not too much actually.

On the Friday (9/28), we will still: drive in to WWoS, check-in at Beach Club & that night we'll drive to DTD (instead of taking the boat there). We will still have dinner at EOS.

Saturday (9/29): my race is in the morning, we will probably walk to Boardwalk around lunch to check it out & find a quick bite @ the bakery or one of the to go windows. For dinner, we'll grab a quick bite at the BC Marketplace. Then, Ed's race is that night.

Sunday (9/30): this is the day that has a change I'm excited about! We'll sleep in & bring our luggage to bell services around 11am for them to hold. We will then head to Beaches & Cream! I had really wanted to try this place on this trip but it just wasn't working out with our plans. So, I'm very excited to have found a way to work it back into the plans. Once we eat our yummy lunch & ice cream (of course), we will load up our luggage & head to OKW.

Then, the trip will commence as planned!

Okay, that's it.......................for now. :rotfl2:

Hope everyone has had a great weekend!!

HI! I just came across this thread. I am happy for you and your family. I think you will love SAB and Beaches and Cream. I know what you mean about having your four year old stay four. He is adorable. My son will be 20 in 3 months and boy do they grow quick. My DH and I miss those young ages.

I hope you have a wonderful trip. We will be at BCV in 2 days. I can not believe it is almost here. I better start packing. ;)

Hi! I'm so glad you found me & stopped in. I'm really excited about getting to check out BC & all it has to offer.

Thank you! My son is definitely a handful but lots of fun! I'm really trying my hardest to cherish these years. They do go by fast, I can't believe my son will start kindergarten in 2013. I can only imagine he'll be grown before I know it.

I hope you have a wonderful trip. We will be at BCV in 2 days. I can not believe it is almost here. I better start packing. ;)

Thank you! That's so exciting that your trip is almost here. I hope y'all have safe & magical trip! pixiedust:

Hope I'm not too late to join in! Your little guy is adorable! How exciting to be staying at the BC :beach: Hoping to stay there one day :goodvibes

Ok, one more teeny tiny change to the plans to announce. I know, I know.....I need help! :lmao:

I was talking to Ed about our new plans. I was telling him how Reid & I are definitely going to hit up SAB on Saturday while he is resting up for the race. But, I felt bad that he wasn't going to get to check it out & experience it. And if we're doing resort research, shouldn't he be part of the research panel? :confused3

He agreed, so we had to work in some time at SAB for all 3 of us. Therefore, we will no longer be going to DTD on our arrival night (Fri, 9/28). I am sad to not be eating at EOS.....yet again. :sad1: But, I am excited about more resort time at BC. :cool1: We'll probably just grab a quick bite somewhere at the resort & then hit the pool that evening.

Okay, really, that it's!

At least for today! :lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

Congrats on switching to the Beach Club. I am sure you will all love it:thumbsup2

How is Ed's training going for the TOT run? I've only made it to a little over 6 miles which has me worried. The heat, humidity and working every day has really hurt my training. I have to make sure to hit every run each week now to stay on schedule. I've noticed that a few of my male coworkers have trained for a half marathon like it was nothing. :confused3

He's finally getting into the nitty-gritty of his training. So, he runs different distances & such each day. I think his "off" day is Fridays. The heat & humidity are absolute killers down here right now. Most days the humidity is around 65%. :scared:
