I finally found a way to get DH excited about Disney! - ADDED LINK TO TRIP REPORT

So glad to hear that you guys are doing well. I hope that your mom comes around!

I'm glad to see that you've made it through the storm safely. I hope they can get the power grid restored sooner rather than later and get everyone up and running.

It is always a tragedy to see people lose their homes to a storm like this.

I'm so sorry I'm just now getting to some responses. The end of the week ended up being a little bit busy. Thursday was Ed's birthday. Then, on Friday, Reid & I braved the grocery store. Thankfully, it wasn't too busy & they had food on the shelves. Since they had to cancel karate on Wednesday due to the storm, we had a make up class on Friday night. Saturday, I woke up & wasn't feeling great but still went out for my 5K run. Well, by the time I got out of the shower, I felt horrible. And pretty much felt that way all day. I spent Saturday playing with Reid, trying to catch up on scrapbooking and watching college football. The guys let me sleep in very late today & that has helped me feel a lot better.

Hope everyone is having a safe & fun Labor Day weekend!!

So relieved to see another safe update from you!

I am following along as much as possible on the news (haven't been near a TV since this morning, so I am a bit behind at this point).

Stay safe!

Thank you so much!! We were really lucky in this storm. Compared to so many others, we hardly got any of the bad stuff.

So glad yall are all okay, as well as your home. It always breaks my heart to see what natural disasters can do. I've been praying!

Thank you!! It's so heart wrenching to watch people lose their homes. I can't even imagine.

So glad you, Ed & Reid are ok  Hope your mom gets power back soon..

And Tusker House breakfast rocks :cool1:

Thank you!! My mom ended up being out of power for only 24 hours. Really not bad considering.

I'm excited to try out Tusker House for breakfast!

So glad to hear that you guys are doing well. I hope that your mom comes around!

Thanks!! My mom ended up staying at her house but thankfully they got their power back.

Thank you!! I have to say that it seems like they're doing a pretty good job of restoring power to people. It's always so nice to see other states bringing in their electrical crews to help out our local crews.

I truly can't imagine leaving your home only to see pictures of it on the news, Facebook or whatever with water almost to the roof line.

So glad you have had no major problems with the storm; I hope the power goes back on you at your loved ones.

Thank you!! I think the last of my family/friends got power yesterday. Those crews having been working hard!

Feel better.

Your trip is almost here! :cool1:

Thank you!!

I can not wait!!!!! I'm so flip-flopping ready for this vacation to just get here already. I still need to finish up a few crafty things for our trip. And then I need to start making packing lists so that I can see what all I need to buy for the trip.

Glad you guys made it through the storm safely! We had lots of limbs and stuff but thankfully that was all. The dam near my parents' house seems to be gettign beter every day and no one was really affected but a lot in the area just got elecctricity back yesterday! And lots are losing trees after the fact due to stress and the electrical companies are afraid they will fall on the power lines.

On to your PTR! October 6th is my birthday!!! And you will be in one of my favorite parks (sorry! :flower3:) and eating at my favorite character meal!! I adore Tusker House for breakfast (haven't tried lunch so I can't attest to that!). I saw someone mentioned Rafiki's Planet...you should really try it if you haven't. I went on a whelm and we actually enjoyed it! I think you should get out of there by 4pm easily! We always do and it sounds like you are planning on doing a whole lot less than we do!

I hope you are feeling better and I am glad to hear ya'll fared well through the storm!

Reid looks so grown up in his Karate uniform! Congrats on the new belt Reid!!!
What wonderful news about his hearing! :cool1::thumbsup2

I have heard amazing things about Tusker House I am sure ya'll will love it! Ak would not be my first pick for a last day in Disney either.. but it sounds like you may have some exciting dinner plans to look forward to that day! Reid is so brave for wanting to try Dinosaur.. that ride even freaks me out!

Boo on the cruise being more money and no aft balconies! We have only cruised Royal but have always been able to get the dining we wanted after being wait listed. Good luck!

Thanks! I'm so glad to hear that y'all were ok also. And that the dam situation got better. That was scary!

We will have have our Tusker House breakfast be in honor of your birthday!! I will definitely have to get us over to Rafiki's Planet to check it out. Can't believe we have never done that.

I hope you are feeling better and I am glad to hear ya'll fared well through the storm!

Thank you!! We were really spared the brunt of the storm since we were on the west side. And I'm finally feeling better! :cool1:

Reid looks so grown up in his Karate uniform! Congrats on the new belt Reid!!!
What wonderful news about his hearing! :cool1::thumbsup2

Thank you!! He was proud of his new belt....and I was, too. He's looking more & more grown up lately it seems. :(

Thank you.....I was so surprised when he passed that hearing test!

I'm excited to give Tusker House a try. Seems like a lot of people really like the breakfast there. As for Dinosaur.....we'll see how brave he is when it comes time to ride. :rotfl: I, personally, don't think he'll enjoy it....we'll see what happens.

Boo on the cruise being more money and no aft balconies! We have only cruised Royal but have always been able to get the dining we wanted after being wait listed. Good luck!

I hope we have some of your luck & get our dining time bumped up to early dining. But, if not, we'll just go with the flow! :thumbsup2

Hi, everyone! I hope everybody had a safe & fun holiday weekend! We pretty much just laid around the house & watched college football. Is there anything better than college football season? Well.....maybe Disney but that's it! :rotfl2: I'm finally feeling better from my weekend cold or whatever it was. So, that's good.

On Tuesday, Reid started PreK4. Here's a picture of him before school:

And after school (he was exhausted!):

In other news, I got a text from my aunt tonight. My uncle is requesting the week of our cruise off of work tomorrow. I'm really hoping they're going to be able to come on the cruise in June with us. We love spending time with them. It's making my OCD-planner self a little crazy that they haven't actually booked their cabin. But, I've told myself that I let them know that Disney cruises (especially the new ships) sell out quickly. Hopefully, they will get booked before there aren't anymore cabins.

Alright.....I guess I have to finish up these Disney plans.

I left off with Saturday, October 6th. We will have had breakfast at Tusker House & then spent most of the day in Animal Kingdom. We will more than likely leave the park before it closes that day. Dependent upon what time we leave, we will either:

(a) go back to OKW & freshen up before dinner

OR

(b) start heading straight towards our dinner destination.

Now, let me tell y'all this night has taken on many forms & has gone through many changes. At this point, I'm sure my changes don't really surprise y'all anymore. :rotfl2:

In my last update, I told y'all that I was unhappy about not ending the trip in MK. So, I felt like I had to come up with something really fun for our last night.

I thought about doing DTD. We could shop & grab a meal. But, that was just meh and I don't really DTD on weekend nights.

Then, I thought about moving our 'Ohana dinner to that night. But, of course, by the time I thought about that it was too late. The only ADRs left were like 930. Yeah, that would not be fun with a 4 year old......or with a hungry me. I'm not pleasant when I'm hungry. :rotfl:

Before I go into my next train of thought, let me backpedal a bit. We have never gone to Disney during college football season. Have I mentioned how much we love college football? Seriously....we don't just watch "our" teams. We watch college football every Saturday, all day long in the fall. Anyway, I warned Ed that we would miss 2 weekends of football. The 1st weekend we're there isn't a big deal. The games for our teams aren't biggies. But, on this Saturday, LSU is playing Florida and Georgia Tech is playing Clemson. Two big games. That's when I thought maybe we could head to the Boardwalk area after AK. My thinking was that we could eat at either ESPN or Big River Grille Brewery. Then, I regained my sanity. I can't even imagine how busy those places must get on Saturday nights in the fall. Plus, it didn't have the last night "WOW" factor for me.

So where did I finally book us for dinner????

THE HOOP-DEE-DOO MUSICAL REVUE!

This is the only dinner show at Disney that we have not done. I've always heard so many good things about it & thought it may be a fun way to the end the trip. Also, I know Ed will love the food. And by the end of the trip, I'm sure I'll enjoy the beer or the Sangria! :cool1:

We are booked for the 615pm show & are in Cat 1 on the main floor.

After the show, we'll probably just head back to OKW. After all, I'll have to start packing. :sad1:

On Sunday, October 7th, we'll wake up very early....probably even before the roosters. We haven't said an exact time we'd like to leave by but it will probably be early.....like between 5 & 6 am. On the way home, we are driving the whole way home.

My hope is that Reid will be completely exhausted from the week & will sleep most of the way home. We need to leave early enough to get home at a decent time where I can Reid on his normal bedtime schedule.

After all, the next day will be business as usual: work, school, karate, laundry! :scared1:

So that's it folks! Obviously, I have finished up our plans a few weeks before we leave so I won't have any more "planning" updates. But, I will come back with some pictures of some stuff that I'm working on for the road trip portion. And I'll continue to do life updates & just check in with y'all in general.

Even though this won't be my last post for the PTR, I would like to go ahead & thank everyone who has been following along. I've had so much fun doing this & talking to y'all. And y'all have been so helpful. If there are any lurkers out there, I want y'all to know that I appreciate y'all following along, too. Please feel free to post me a "HELLO!" before we leave.

Oh - I almost forgot! I did get some Mickey Mail last week. It was the packet reviewing your package, etc. And it had the Photopass card in it, so I did get that registered online. I am ready to really utilize Photopass to the fullest this year since it's the first time I've ever prepaid for the CD.

Ok, I think that's it. For now! :)

:cool1: for THE HOOP-DEE-DOO MUSICAL REVUE! I have never been to any of the dinner shows, but this is one of the ones I would be interested in.

Not long now!!! :goodvibes

I think you guys are really going to enjoy Hoop-de-doo! Its a really fun show! The food is so-so, but the cornbread and strawberry shortcake are better, and the drinks are free flowing! :rotfl2:

Depending on the time, you guys maybe could even catch Wishes and the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach at Ft. Wilderness!

College football is great.:thumbsup2 I'm the same way... I can watch just about any good game on TV. DW is already complaining about it. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

I think the Hoop Dee Doo is a great idea for the last day. I, personally, am a big fan of ESPN Club, but you probably made a good choice. It is great for adults if you want to show up early and string out several appetizers and drinks over the course of an evening, but I'm not sure how much fun that would be for a 4 year old.

Sounds like a perfect night! I love the Hoop!!! I think you guys will have a great time.

Our honeymoon fell during college basketball conference tournaments. We spent and inordinate amount of time at ESPNZone. :lmao: Romantic huh?

Well, I can't see Reid's pics right now, but I am not surprised that his first day of school really wore him out. That's a good thing, right?

I love your HDDR plan for your last night. It really is a cool show and I recall the food as being pretty decent as well, so enjoy! :goodvibes

I forget - when is your cruise? Ugh, isn't it hard to plan with other people? :headache:
