I fell off the wagon this weekend...

Isn't it great that something old is still great! There may be help for me yet!

Jeff.... How in the world were you able to get such great shots by manually focusing???? LOL

Amazing shots. I don't mind the MF aspect of an AIS lens, I'm just more concerned with the lack of metering with my D90. Maybe in another 6 months when I get the itch and upgrade again, I'll venture into the world of AIS lenses. ;) :rotfl:

We were talking about 1.4 lenses compared to 1.8 lenses before and I remember saying that I thought all of your pictures had this "creamy" look to them---and the 1.2 is no exception to that, love the extremely shallow DOF, especially the ones of your daughter.

Now for the all important question, which do you prefer now---the 105 AIS or the 50 AIS?? :thumbsup2

Great shots as usual, Jeff! :thumbsup2

So THAT's how you get a decent exposure of the hitchiking ghosts... 12800 ISO, 1/20 sec. in a moving vehicle, and an f/1.2 lens!

Seriously... nice work!

You know, it really is not fair to the rest of us, you being so close to Disney and all. Gee, and I actually bid on an F1.2 lens before my last trip but didn't get it, now I am too late to be the first around here to do some F1.2 shots there. Heck, even forgetting that, I'm impressed that you managed to come up with a decent color temperature for a PotC ride! That alone is a pretty serious challenge. :)

Great shots, especially the ghosts! Really clear and nice exposure.

P.S. Hate to be the one to break it to you, but with her eyes, your goose is cooked when your daughter gets older. All she has to do is look at you and she could get away with anything! :rotfl2: Very Cute!

Groucho was right, not fair, you living so close. I have to wait until December!!!:lmao:

Thanks- Picking your favorite lens is like trying to pick you favorite kid. (Easy to do but my answer changes by the hour as soon as one of them does something good. ;))

Thanks- Don't forget about the scared 5 year old clutching your left arm for stability! ;)

I will credit Code for the trick to the WB on that ride. I took a hint from his comment HERE and desaturated the overall image.

I have no idea what you are talking about. She gets everything she wants now!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I mentioned the desaturation trick a while ago (after my 4/08 trip maybe?), but you still seem to have hit the actual WB number pretty well - and I don't think I desaturated that far, only -10 or -15 or so. The biggest issue seems to be that when you go that far to the left on the slider, it tends to emphasize the noise much more so than just a little to the right. The price we pay... Anyway, I suspect that we won't be able to replicate exactly what the eye sees, but that one is certainly closer.
