I feel like Im cheating!

I went to Six Flags once, and I didn't like it at all. It is completely different then Disney (obviously), but it just didn't feel good to be there (six flags I mean). It was dirty, the amount if chain restaurants in there was crazy, and some of the prices were higher then Disney.

I don't care for Six Flags either but this notion of being unfaithful to Disney is kind of odd. You could say that you were unfaithful every time you spend any money for any kind of entertainment if you want to get into that.

I doubt that Disney cares whether you go to other parks or not as long as you keep visiting the Disney parks. If you go in with an open mind and don't compare everything to the Disney parks, you might actually have a nice time.

We live 30 mins from Six Flags over GA and haven't been in 10 years. We have younger children so I can see us going to six flags in a few years when the kids will really enjoy the thrill rides.

No, I don't feel I am cheating when we go to another park. We go to Holiday World in Indiana every other year or so. Believe it or not, DD9 loves it just as much as she loves Disney. And we only have to drive 2 hours to get there, not the 16 or so to get to Disney, so that is a nice break.

I can see and hear six flags st. louis from my back yard.

We treat six flags as what it is. A carnival amusement park. We go quite often for an hour at a time after work. ride a ride or 2 and go home. never window shop, never interact with characters, never eat. It's a $60 ticket that gets used 20-30 times over the 6 months they are open. cheap entertainment for the kids.

We do go to other parks just for a change of pace. But it does make us appreciate Disney even more :)

funny we live where we can go to Six Flags too. we went the first time as a family 2 years ago and only because dh got free passes from work. The kids did not seem to thrilled with it, mostly since they are young still and not into thrill rides. I hated how expensive food was it was insane. I love how we can bring food into Disney! Esp when the kids all like different things and I like healthy snacks
i would not go back anytime soon
I had not been since way back when it was riverside

Not me. I find enjoyment in lots of things that don't include Mickey. Even other amusement parks.

Not really. In all honesty. While I LOVE WDW and I LOVE going there, the trip is so large and expensive for us that we cannot go all the time.

I adore Busch Gardens, I am a huge roller coaster junkie and I really enjoy the newish Sesame Street stuff they are doing (The dine w/ Elmo is extremely well done!!) So this helps keep DD4 entertained and happy!! The park is clean, well maintained and very very very nice... not your typical six-flags type :headache:

We have seasons passes and go regularly, It is about 30-40mins from where we live so its a great lil trip on the weekends.

Ditto. We also go to BGVA a lot since we're so close, too. I never think of them as competition for Disney World. It's a whole other category of park, imo.

I don't remember individual ride tickets, but I do remember that you used to have the option of entering the park and NOT riding, or buying a wristband that allowed you to ride all day. Back then the Loop Coaster and the Thunderbolt were the big coasters!

And we used to go into the park and walk around (with no admission charge) while we waited for the race track to open on Saturday nights. After doing that a few times, we started buing season passes so that we could go on a ride or two before the races started on Saturday night. It was a very sad time for us when the track closed.

letting people walk around for free because of the "clientele" it was attracting. And we could hear the race track on Sat nights from our first appt in Enfield!!

The 6 Flags season passes are an incredible value, and you can use them at other 6 Flags parks - for example, you can go to the one in Springfield, Lake George NY and NJ - all with day trips or maybe even with one night stays.

It's not WDW and I think they've figured that out, but for entertainment during the summer, you aren't going to get much better than a $70 pass that gets you in all year. Once you have the pass if you live close as you say, you can go over for a few hours or half day - don't need to make full days of it to try to get value for your purchase.

The New England park is a pretty decent park - has some great coasters and a real good water park - all included in that season pass price - really silly not to take advantage of it if you're close and like rides at all.

I don't know about 'cheating' on WDW but I can say that the Six Flags in Denver is horrible - not clean, teenagers who just have the job as a way to make extra money (not that there is anything wrong with that!), long lines, and rides that are constantly down. I couldn't believe we spent almost $200 for a day ticket for our family of four. It would have been money better spent at Disney!

I will say that being from Michigan, I did have a chance to enjoy some really decent amusement parks and they are out there! Like Cedar Point :thumbsup2

Ahhh...the good old days of Riverside. I went quite often when it was Riverside, especially to the races (my uncle use to do the figure 8). I haven't been to six flags since the year it opened. We talked briefly about going this year but decided to skip it, maybe when the girls get older.

I really didn't like the Six Flags in NJ. The rides were good, but the experience was horrible. I don't want to go on a whole rant (because I can about this trip!) but let's just say by the end of the day I was actually in tears because so many things went wrong that they refused to fix (like the fact that we bought the tickets at the gate, then went to scan them and they didn't work... and then they made us wait an hour on a line for customer service just to print us a new ticket because their machine is faulty sometimes! This was before we even stepped foot into the parks and we lost the time that we got there early for only to face super long lines).

But I've been to Dorney, Hershey, Cedar Point, and a bunch of others and loved them all. It was just something about Six Flags that was really disappointing.

I feel the same way! Even though I live 45 minutes away from a Six Flags it just isn't as fun. And it's expensive even though they always have deals. I'll go once a summer because my kid get's a free ticket through a reading program at school. But... I would rather save my money and spend it on a trip to Disney!

Ok so please dont think im crazy! :confused3
I love Disney and go every year. I live 15 minutes from a Six Flags and had never been there. Everybody tells me Im crazy because i live so close and never put foot in it. Is just that i feel like im cheating Mickey Mouse. Im very loyal to disney and i feel that nothing is as good as the mouse. :scared1:

does anyone else feels this way??

I live about 25 minutes from th same six flags as you and havent been there since it was riverside park!

A few years ago I was celebrating my 30th birthday and was desperate to go to six flags magic mountain to ride x amongst others. I got some compensation from an accident so we booked it! We had a lovely time at six flags , knotts and disney. I don't feel that I was "dis loyal", I just took full advantage of what was in the general area of where we were staying!

I remember on the way out of disney one evening there was a cast member asking guests to do a customer survey. One of his q's was "would you come back to disney california again?" I answered that yes I would IF i was visiting the other parks, as we live in England and WDW is three hours closer on the plane then its WDW all the way for the next few years!
(If six flags opened a park in the Orlando area with the same type of rides as magic mountain then that would just be perfect for me!!!)

Claire :)

I agree, they are in completely different categories! When I go to other parks, like six flags, dorney or hershey, I am constantly comparing it to Disney though...
