You would think this was my first time to Universal, but we went years ago when the kids were babies! I think my son was 3 months!
we just ordered tickets and went! No planning, nothing, didn't make a reservations for anything. Had a total blast!
Then fast forward to now.....I am planning, reading, searching for everything to make sure I (should say we...but it really is I!LOL!) don't miss anything!
We have the 5 day tickets so I know we will have plenty of time to cover both parks from head to toe!

I am just so confussed with so much of the stuff! Character meals have me baffled. I have read about them...but I still don't know who is who and where. Meal Deal, sounds great but then will we eat that much in a day? City walk? what exactly is that? (Confussed me last time too! We had it as part of our ticket but then they never collected them anywhere!)

I guess cause we had so many issues planning this trip I am just waiting for the shoe to drop! LOL!

USO is as easy as it ever was. It sounds like you need ot know about the meal deal. I think it is a personal preference but there is a thread on this page Meal deal or no deal which has a lot of posts...read that and decide if it is worth it. I would think with all those responses your uestions should be answered. As far as character meals, I don't think it's as crazy as WDW. My brother took my nephew to one and said it was a waste. Don't know the details, but gave it 2 thumbs down. The characters are all over the parks anyway.

City Walk is the area with all the restaurants. Also the Boat launches are there and it kind of connects the 2 parks. if you go to www.universalorlando.com you will see a map and will put everything into perspective for you.

If you are staying on site you will have plenty of time because of the fotl, which is a seperate express line for all rides for all on site guests at no charge. We do the parks in 2 days, and that's taking our time and going on rides multiple times. There honestly is not anything to "plan" it's just a decision on the meal plan and weather or not you want to do a character meal. The parks are not that big and are designed in a circle, so you really can't miss anything. Walking from one park to another is a total of 2 minutes.

It's really easy and unless you are planning on going to one of Emeril's restaurants, I don't think you really need to plan that much. There are so many choices for dining. The only restaurant we make reservations in advance for is TchopChop or Emeril's. Everything else we just wing it, and decide during the day and make reservations for that evening.

Thanks
I am actually on the thread you mentions....LOL!
I think because of our so many trips to Disney I have become an over planner! Have to do that with Disney!
When we went before we did do one character meal. I thought it was fun the food was so so. But it was neat to meet Dr. Doom. I think I won't try and get reservations for any and just see how it goes day to day. I do think we are going to do the meal deal. At least for the kids. They can eat their weight in french fries and nuggets!
We are staying at Fort Wilderness. Best camping around orlando.
I am not really worrying about the crowds.
I am just really starting to look forward to this trip!
