I don't want to go to UNIVERSAL!!

I'm just so glad that the Universal/IOA parks we went to last summer weren't the ones with just coasters since I hate roller coasters and had a blast there. I'm also glad that the parks we went to didn't have rude workers, and weren't dirty and the IOA we went to was nothing like a six flags. Just glad we went to the other one.

I think it's odd that the neighbors are going now too. It sounds like the DH is a friendly guy who tends to be a little too social and ended up with people tagging along. If I were the OP, I think that I'd just tell him that I'm not going but he is case closed.

I keep wondering about all of the references to so many roller coasters at Universal when it only has three and I'm even counting one as two (Dueling Dragons). Oh, it also has one kiddie coaster. WDW has two thus only has one less and Universal is full of roller coasters?

I don't go on anything with drops either. So, literally the only things I will go on is Spiderman and the Dr. Suess ride. But that wasn't the point. The point was I was going to stay back while he rides (over and over again) the however many rollercoasters they have there with our friends. And for going on 2 rides should not have to cost me whatver the price is to get into Univ. and Islands of Adv. plus add the Fast pass cost. If I don't get the fast pass thing, then I can't go on the line with them anyway. So I'd have to buy that.
I don't see the problem here, like I said before, if it was turned around to where he wanted to spend some time doing whatever he wanted to do, but didn't want to come with me and my friends, I see no problem with that either. This was somehow turned into a Universal Vs. Disney 'debate' or whatever you wanna call it.
The thing is, he goes and rides what he wants, and I can go and enjoy epcot, so I don't torture him with my hours of shopping. And when I mean shopping, I mean spending like $50. That's it.

You're right, this did turn into a Universal vs Disney debate and I'm partially responsible. I just can't stand to see people making false or vicious comments. (Not you!)

I don't see why you can't split up for the day either. He could go on to IOA (since that's the park that you're clearly referring to-Universal is nothing like what you're describing) and you could go to Epcot. I've spent the day browsing in World Showcase myself and it's tons of fun. You can even hop on over to the Boardwalk and shop there too.

Good luck with working this out!

When our family goes to the parks, DH doesn't do the coasters either. He just sits and waits or looks in the stores. He never complains though. We love him for that.

We've stayed at Coronado Springs twice and loved it both time. We stayed in two different sections...the Cabanas and, and, and I just can't remember the other one. It wasn't the Ranchos it was the third section.

We love the Pepper Market and the pool at CS. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Another idea, why don't the neighbors just go to Universal & IOA? This will give you & DH some alone time and the same for neighbors :confused3 . Let us know what you decide.

That's a possibility. My DH is easily persuaded though, so when our friends say 'lets go' he will be right there. There's a few things, not only this that is making me angry. My DH is not a big drinker, but will drink... alot... in the presence of other drinkers, and my neighbor is a HUGE drinker. So I'm sure they will be drunk most every night.. Not fun for a non-drinker. Oh well...
Next trip we take will be JUST US!

First of all, CUTE pictures showing you as a child and then an adult.

Now, I have not read every post in this thread but there is nothing wrong, in my opinion, with taking a day off while they hit US/IOA. It is just one day and you can meet up with them for dinner, perhaps at Emerils or another restuarant at City Walk.

I am a HUGE fan of US/IOA and a season pass holder there and I DO think you could find things to explore that don't involve rollar coasters and drops (especially at US)

1. Men in Black
2. Jaws
3. ALL the shows at US
4. Twister
5. Shrek
etc. etc.

We just went last weekend and had a great time. BTW, there are lots of stores to shop at there too. What ever you decide happy anniversary. I think it is great that your husband has a big heart and is nice to all his friends. I think that shows character, although saying no once in a while is okay too! :thumbsup2

The OP mentioned coasters, drops, Spiderman and the "Seuss ride" so I think that she's talking about just IOA. I can understand her problem if that's the destination.

The only reason it sends up flags for me is, she told her DH she didn't want to go and would rather go to Epcot and he said he wished she'd come with him. In that case, it does seem really selfish (to me) to say No.

Don't you think it is selfish of HIM to ask her to do something she has been very clear about, that she will not have fun?

I would never dream of insisting that my DH do something he doesn't like or enjoy, no matter how badly I want to be with him.

It is not like she is sending her DH to go wander around US alone. He will be with their friends. Sometimes, the best gift a spouse can give each other is ALONE TIME.

Oh yea, that would be much more limited for her. I thought she was going to both, or just US. If she just gets to go to IOA she will be bored. I would take that 150.00 she says it will cost and go the Portofino Bay resort for a spa treatment, then meet up with the gang for a late lunch. :goodvibes

Now THAT sounds like a great idea! :thumbsup2

(I've always wanted to use that one.)

Go to Mythos for lunch.

lol. I was thinking that too.. and the voice of Mr. Krabs from Spongebob in my head "Ohhh boo-hoo, let me play you a sad song on the world's smallest violin." :rotfl: Hey! At least Universal has rides! I was forced to go to Cape Kennedy Space Station and waste 80 dollars just to look at 3 rockets! :p

Well apparently it's not just me, so again thank you to all who 'get me'.

In reading this there were so many "there are so many other things to do there" posts saying you should go but to me it came across that your DH and neighbors were going to get the fast pass thing and hit all the thrill rides(that you hate to go on) over and over in both parks. So if you would have to leave the group in US/IOA to have fun it make more sense to me for you to go to Epcot and have your own fun.

I get so annoyed when people throw out "marriage is about compromising" as a reason to just let someone have thier own way to me compromising is both people giving up something to get something and thats not what this situation is at least to me. But you going to epcot and shopping (what you want and DH hates) and your DH going to US/IOA ( what he want and you hate) is a good compromise.

I think Epcot is the best thing then you get to do what you want and get out of something you hate and your DH gets the same thing.

:) I hope you have a great time
