I don't want to do the autograph thing!

The thing my DD (4) loved most about WDW was getting the autographs! She spends hours looking at her authgraph book and can tell you who each of them are! Getting autogaphs MADE WDW for my DD - she enjoyed the rides, having her photo taken and was pretty :confused3 about the parades but getting the characters to sign her 'book' was the absolute highlight of her trip!

Each to their own but I would stand for an hour (not that I did - it was November and quiet!) to allow my daughter to get her book signed - this WAS WDW at it's best for my DD!!!!

Also here's the expensive way to go - Buy the Disney photo (off your photopass card) and they will put the signature right on the photo for you.

MGM can also be a great place to collect autographs without huge lines. Also, if you collect them at Camp Minnie Mickey at AK, pick about 10 minutes after the FOTLK has started. Don't go near that place after it lets out.

We will do some, if the kids are excited about them. After all, we can go or skip seeing Peter Pan's Flight AGAIN....its partially up to them how they want to spend their time. Sometimes we say "oh, the line is too long." But if they really want to they have shown a lot of patience.

The cruise can also be a great place to collect autographs without huge lines - except for Princesses - always lines for Princesses.

It is had to juggle the camera, pen and book but, IMO, so worth it. Many things we do in life are more for our child(ren) and this is one of them. You may find it to be a pain but once getting there and all caught up in Disney, it's no big deal. I would say to go for it...you'll appreciate it later.

GS's first trip to disney was with us when he was 9 yrs old, It made all the long line waiting worth it when out of the blue we heard him say. Grandma, poppa, I LOVE YOU Thank You for bringing me here.

GS always carried his own book & pen in his own waist pack. He is now 12 yrs and treasures his 3 autogragh books, pictures and all of his disney memories.
He loves looking at the autograghs with his younger brother 8 yrs (different mom) who just went to disney for the first time & will finally be going with us this year.

It is so worth it to wait in the lines for the great memories that the little ones will always have.
We also do character meals and GS & us have always enjoyed those too.

We've done the autograph books twice now and the last time when our kids were 3 and 5, I really regretted it. My 5 year old, especially, felt like she needed to get all of them and cared more about the autographs than actually seeing the characters :sad2: . For dh and me, it took away some of the magic. We would have been happier just capturing their faces as they saw the characters and hugged them, instead of making sure their books were open and their pens readied (which required some help from mom or dad for our little ones). To add insult to injury, I think I can only remember one time when they have actually looked at the books in the year since we went

I'm not saying it's not worth it to wait and meet the characters, or to do a character meal (which we loved), just for us the autograph books were disappointing.
