I don't like the turkey legs.

We didn't like them either. My dh said they were too greasy. I also thought they tasted more like ham which I'm not that fond of. dh was disappointed, he really wanted to like them cause they are such a part of Disney but didn't.

I don't like them either. I agree they taste like ham and not turkey. I took one bite of hubby's and that was more than enough for me.

I have been telling DH for YEARS those things look like ham ( i am a vegetarian) but just LOOKING at them- they do not look like any turkey meat i have ever seen! the meat is pink! not white

someone needs to investigate this!! :thumbsup2

No turkey legs for me either! No thank you.

No turkey leg fanciers in this family. We tried one once just because it seemed EVERYONE loved them. YUCK! It tastes like ham on a stick...don't get me wrong, I love ham, but not when its supposed to be turkey!

I've never tried one. I was excited to try one on the upcoming trip but after thinking about it they don't seem so good to me. :confused3 I'd rather opt for a Mickey bar :mickeybar

I don't even like LOOKING at Turkey Legs--especially when folks are eating them in 90+ degree weather!!
Perhaps it's an acquired taste??? :)

Turkey legs are gross. :faint: I don't even eat them at home (well....to be honest, I only eat white meat poultry)

After years and years of reading all about the vaunted turkey legs here, I finally tried one (at Epcot, from the cart in from of the American Adventure) last August.

:crazy2:  :crazy2:

After about one and a half bites of that pink, chewy, greasy crud (which didn't come close to tasting like good ham much less turkey), into the trash barrel it went. I now take the beaten path dining recommendations here with a BIG grain of salt!!!!.

The reason for the flavor and color is due to the flavor injections and the smoking process. Since the only smoked foods were used to eating is ham, when we eat smoked turkey (where most of the flavor is from the smoking) our brains automatically think ham. My mother bought a smoked turkey last Thanksgiving and it had the same effect; we started calling it "hamurkey" :rotfl:

It is always the perfect snack to hold over my DH, and 2 DS' in between meals. They love to snack on them and last time I took a piece and it was not bad. You definately taste ham. But my family loves them so we vote yay! :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

Tried one years ago and thought it was about the foulest thing I've ever tasted. I don't know what they inject into those things....but it tasted like a mouth full of nitrates, followed up with a healthy dose of cartilege......yuck!

I have never been able to bring myself to try one. I don't do little poultry legs, or usually any dark meat at all. I can't even watch other people eat them. yuck! I have to dodge and weave around turkey carts to avoid seeing people chow down. I know some people think they are fabulous, but they're so not for me.

I love Dark Meat Turkey. But someone posted the sodium content and it was over something like 5,000 mg. So I decided not to try one. I guess I'm glad I didn't. I used to like to gross out my sisters by eating em like Hagar the Horrible. Give me one with Garlic and other spices Poked into it before cooking. No injections of MSG or anything with an overage of Sodium needed.
