I wont be doing hulk or the other big coasters (love harry potter though). How many nights should I book the portofino for?

I guess it depends on how you define "big coasters". There are only 4 Coasters bigger than the ones at Disney: Hulk, Rip Ride Rockit and the 2 sides of Dragon Challenge. Flight of the Hippogryph and Woody Woodpecker are Kids Coasters no worse than Barn Stormer. Revenge of the Mummy and Gringotts are hybrid Dark Rides/Roller Coaster. ROTM has a more coaster than Gringotts (from what I've seen of Gringotts). But neither one of them is bigger than BTMRR. They do have launches that at least on ROTM produce some airtime depending on the seat you're in.

Good Question ... I am wondering the same thing. We don't care for the "BIG" roller coasters either. We are planning our first trip to Orlando, wanting to split our time between Universal and DW.

Is it possible to see both parks at Universal in one day? Some in our group might not have the option of 2 days... so, can it be done in 1? Of course, at the top of our list will be both of the HP worlds & train and the Minion ride.

Does anyone know how long it takes to go thru all of the HP areas?

Thanks!

You will be able to see the highlights of both parks in ONe day, but not both completely.Alot will depend on how long the waits are for Gringotts when you go.In lower crowd times keep in mind parks close early.ALOT earlier than disney so you are trying to cram alot in in alot less time.

Yea those are the ones im referring to, particularly hulk and rip ride rockit.
The thing is i want to know how many nights ill FEEL satisfied , not really how many days i can complete everything. Because i like redoing rides and enjoying atmosphere, its not all about going on rides and checking it off my list.
For example, The reason i do disney is the feeling of being transported, the resort, beautiful nights at magic kingdom, good food , etc.

Hard to say.

Our first trip (both to WDW and Uni) we had 4 days at Uni. Checkin and checkout, and 2 days in between. We wanted more.

Since then we've had longer and longer stays. Our last was 8 nights; hard to say how we would have felt...my son and I had gotten super-duper sick while at WDW so Uni was just a getting well place and trying to rest after many many nights of horrible nights at WDW and coastal FL (while trying to visit family, but we sat in our hotel room and they sat at home, everyone so sick). Sigh. We'll try that one again and hopefully stay well.

DH wants to ride the big coasters and can't yet. DS wants to ride them but I won't let him ride alone. I don't want to ride them! So I can't do too many in one visit or I cry. (seriously, it's pathetic, I literally cried when he wanted me to go on Dragon Challenge after we had already done two others that day...I just couldn't, and we didn't). So...the big coasters aren't on our list of "must dos" as a family. And yet we had that 8 nights planned! :)

We just got back from an 8 night trip at HRH ..... I think Portofino is a great choice, if/when we go again, this will likely be where we stay.

If you are going to travel in the heat of the summer, then I say 4 nights is good to soak in enough of the parks to experience Uni/IOA at a relatively leisurely pace, that includes 1/4 of your time (not including sleep ;)) at the hotel / City Walk.

You will likely not see EVERY single thing - but you will get the important stuff in for sure.

Please make sure to do Diagon Alley in the evening - do some exploring - buy some ice cream (my favourite is Strawberry & cream in a waffle cone). If you're looking for that 'magic' - that's where you'll find it IMO.

Good Luck! :goodvibes
