I have 2 weeks holiday coming up starting the 23rd Sep. I would love to go to orlando at this time but 2 things are bothering me.

1. Will I get a good deal being so close to this time. I think not on initial findings but where would be the best place to look for last minute deals?

2. Is it worth going late Sep as weather is supposed to bad isn't it?

There will be myself and a 12 year old who I believe gets classed as an adult now and I definatly want to go for 2 weeks.

I will leave it for the boards to decide my fate as I can't make up my mind.

Thanks in advance

DD

Can't help with the late booking I'm afraid because we normally plan our trip months in advance but I've just had a look at Virgin holidays website & it looks like they've got availability still for that date.

It is definately worth looking into & don't worry about the weather - that's a lovely time to go, it will be hot but probably not as stormy as it is now.

Everyone on here will surely encourage you to go - just make sure you have enough money (you can NEVER have enough but you know what I mean) and enough time to get Visa's if you need them. I'm sure if you do go you'll both love it.

Probably ITV Teletext is your best bet for late deals, and you'll probably find somethign decent, especialy with just 2 of you going (it gets harder to find late deals for 4/5 etc).

Booked it, Packed it, etc.

I would go for it! One of our 'cheapest' trips to Florida was booked about 3 weeks before we left.

Schools will be back in the US, so crowds should be lower and I think the July/August heavy downpours should just about be over, and the high temperatures should be a little lower.

Ann.

Hi

I would say go for it too:)

I love booking last minute deals, you can get some great deals that way. The latest I have left booking was the day before we flew;)
In the past when I have booked last minute flights I have always been charged the same price as a adult for my DD's, which I am not bothered with as they have been cheap:)
The last time we went in Sept was a few years ago and I remember it to be a bit wet but nice and warm:)

why don't you try travel city direct the phone number is always
on itv teletext, I've been with them twice and they are good.

Not sure why the weather is supposed to be bad in September - it is hurricane season, but then it's hurricance season for a good 4 months of the year so I can't see that it would be that.

When I went in September a few years back, we did unfortunately have a hurricane pass quite close by (Jeorge/George) up the Gulf coast which resulted in a fair bit of rain, but still....far better than home ;)

I say go for it - if you could get a last minute cheapie it would be worth it :)

Tron ,As soon as I read your reply about Teletext holidas 1st thing I thought was Peter Kay,Then your final line,Pure Classic LOL!! Cheers Ian

Perhapps it was more suited to Northern readers :-)

Why not go on teletext as suggested then as said ,you can say booked it , packed it etc... as said by Tron!! and peter kay ;)
we are going on the 18th sept and are not bothered about weather, as 9 times out of 10 it's hot, hot, hot.
just go for it,

Definitely do it!

Just had a quick look at travellersweb.com which apears to be offering very cheap fly drives (about £300 pp) to Sanford. You'll need to buy the car insurance and accommodation on top, but I'm sure other people on the board will be able to help with that. We always stay in a villa as we are a large party.

You could always try your local travel agent - sometimes you do get a real bargain. Boots are offering a £100 off Thomas Cook voucher with every £15 you spend - there are restrictions but it's worth a look.

I'd also not hesitate about going in September - it may be a bit wet, but as it's so hot you'll dry out quickly! Sometimes a deluge is welcome relief from the heat, and the crowds sem to thin out a bit afterwards, too.

Hope you find something.

(You weren't really expecting any discouragement on this board, were you? ;) )

DD UK -

Dh and I planned to go back Bali this year but with some of the unfortunate events of the last couple of weeks we have had to rethink. I have scoured the internet, teletext etc for prices to Orlando and just booked our flight on Thursday for 2 weeks. we fly with MyTravel from Glasgow for £322 each on a direct flight - ok it's not scheduled but the good people on this forum made me see sense - it saves a trip to Gatwick or multiple stops to get there. We've chosen to stay in I Drive for about 8 nights, not sure where yet and WDW for 6 - we can get a deal for £278 for the All Stars which I think is ok. We fly out 11th Sept ( hmmmm) and have only ever gone in December so this will be a change for us. Like you I'm a bit worried about the weather- but it can't rain for a fortnight - can it? ;)

The deals are there - Funway travel has some deals on the internet - might be worth a look. We chose not to as we wanted to stay in a couple of hotels. Major Travel has some good flight deals. If we'd been quick enough a couple of weeks ago when we were still undecided there was a deal for £750 for both of us to fly BA to Gatwick and then MCO. I blame DH for missing that one.

Look around you'll get something and have a good time.
