OK, I have to admit, I do have some things to wear 'cause I have three differen sizes hanging in my closet!:p Still, I'm out of my big clothes, and am not finding much in my medium and small clothes that's right for fall and winter. Even the small clothes that fit will be only a temporary size for me if I keep making progress with WISH. So, my question is this: what do you all buy to get you through the in-between stages? Stuff with elastic?? I don't want to buy much because if I have my way, I won't be able to wear any of it next year at this time!

Give me your advice, everyone. I need your help!

Hi Erin,
Well first off, congrats! That's a good sign when all your clothes don't fit. I know exactly how you feel. The best thing you can do is buy some in between clothes. once I started buying new clothes, the compliments really started pouring in, and it along with how great I looked in the new clothes gave me a real boost!

I know what you mean about hating to buy things when you know soon you will be out of that size. You have to wear clothes though! I am already outgrowing some of the size 8's I have. I am mostly wearing size 6's now, and a few size 4's. Thats a far cry from the size 14/16 I wore before!!

Congrats on your clothes being too big!

Hi, Melanie, great to hear from you! My question is this, and may sound kind of silly: WHAT do you buy? Just a couple of skirts, jeans, shirts, etc., that you wear over and over? Do you live in sweatpants in your free time? Do you give away all your big stuff as soon as you downsize or do you keep it around for awhile?
I guess I'm asking for some closet strategies!:p

I've gone thru many sizes this year starting at a 20 and now in 8, and 6 and 4's. Now that being said all three of those sizes fit like there the same size just different brands. Once i hit the 16's i sold my 18, and 20's on ebay and my 2x sweaters and shirts too once i got in XL i've made over 1k this year selling my old clothes. I set up a papal account and it puts the money right onto my papal visa and after i pay the shipping off that card the rest is clothes money to turn around on ebay and buy more smaller sizes. The biggest sizes i have is a couple 12's and some 10s. I usually get 2 pairs of jeans and lots of different shirts since they don't cost as much on ebay. And if i need an occasion outfit i'll get that too of course. But for the most part i hang around the house in my 14 shorts i had during the summer or my big xxl shirts. It's kinda neat though it makes me appreiciate where i am at today and realize where i was. That weight may be gone but not forgotten. I appreciate every pound of it. Now i'm trying to settle into a size proabley gonna be a 6 looks like in regular jeans and a meduim shirt. I only have 10 more pounds i want to loose so i think i'll avg a 6 or 8 my 8's now are getting looser by the day since i have gotten serious agian about loosing. Best of luck to you.

First of all, what a WONDERFUL problem to have!! You've been working so hard and it's GREAT to see the results!!

Are there any consignment or nearly new shops in your area? You can take your bigger clothes in and sell them, and you can look for practically new stuff in smaller sizes that isn't too expensive.

I like to buy jeans, especially in colors that are NOT blue, like browns, tans, blacks. That way I can dress them up with a nice top and loafers or oxfords or just wear them with a t-shirt and sneakers for hanging around.

What a fun problem to have! I do hang out in sweats at home and old (big) jeans. I would suggest, as the others have, to buy a couple of pants with more shirts. I am starting this problem myself. I also buy cheaper and watch the sales closer than I used to because I hope to not stay in the current size too long. I hate to spend money on temporary clothes but when I wear something that actually fits people notice the weight loss. Very motivating. Keep it up!:sunny:

Ahh - yes - Erin - what a wonderful problem to have! First of all - get rid of the big clothes now!! I've bought about 5 new pairs of pants, found some in my closet that had been too small, but fit now. The tops- I'm afraid as I pull out the winter sweaters, that I'm going to find less to wear. There just happens to be a re-sale shop two doors down from Curves! I'll pretty much buy inexpensive stuff for this winter, and buy another new "wardrobe" in the spring for the warmer weather.

Coldwater Creek has some great sales thru the internet (& catalog) so if you know your size with them, they have some decent prices.

Good luck!

Depending on what kinds of clothes you need for work etc, I would buy 1 or two pairs of jeans, a few sweats etc. And more tops to mix and match.

I know it's so tough. I got rid of most of my bigger sizes, I only have a few things left that are too big. It really made a huge difference in how I felt, and how others saw me.

The good thing is that a lot of clothes have spandex in them now. You can wear them a "little" tight, then a "little" loose. I'm a bit busty (for my size), so I'm still able to wear knit tops from last winter. I've also washed some cold water items in hot water to shrink them.

While I was still in my transitional stages (I'm at goal now) I found pants and shorts with an elastic inset in the waist (NOT all the way around) were the most wearable. I have a couple of pair of size 10 shorts that still fit, but the elastic doesn't stretch at all, and they are "comfortably" baggy in the butt. ;)

And you can't go wrong with black! (Boring, but easy to dress up and down.) The good thing about having to replace all of your clothes is that you can shop so that everything in your wardrobe is coordinated, so you need less clothes.

I know how this feels... I've found the best thing to do is buy the LEAST amount of stuff necessary... one dressy pair of pants & a shirt, one or two pairs of jeans & a couple of comfortable tops & forego the rest until you are at the size you want.... be sure to have a couple pairs of sweats as well!!!
