I don't hate DVC.

Some have asked how an opinion on an event can be taken personally; well, I believe that these comments are aimed not only at the event, but at those who are attending - they imply a lack of judgement or some stupidity for anyone who is going. To me, this is the difference between saying "I don't like the food here" vs "How can anyone stomach the crappy food here?"; one is your opinion about the food, while the other casts doubt on anyone who does like the food. A fine distinction, true, but a distinction none the less.

Just my opinion on other people's opinions of opinions. Huh?

Dr. T,

Commenting about an event being a rip-off is a little different than calling someone a name directly. Also, since the boards are moderated, name calling is generally handled.

I'd like to add a few more frequently used comments to your list. These comments may include but are not limited to:

1) If you don't like "X", sell your points. (X is the topic de jour)
2) Thief (pool towels used in room)
3) Dishonest/have no morals (5 in a 1-BR)
4) .....and the list can go on.

Bottom line, ANY post here could offend just about anyone, if the reader has a low sensitivity threshold.

Good on you Sgt we love our memberships to we own at HHI and SSR and wouldn't change any of it for anything

I think the ripoff comment is directed at a comment I made about the Magical Gatherings in May. I would like to state that my comments concerning the Magical Gatherings were directed at the event, not the individuals and families that choose to attend.

I hope that those attend have a wonderful time. I look forward to talking with those that attend since I will be there a few days after the event.

ITA with Deemarch, and I add something more. I first started researching this board because we were considering buying into DVC (Ob. Disclaimer: SSR 300 pts 9/03 $74/pt briefs). I'm no stranger to boards/forums/newsgroups, and a very quickly learned who's opinions I valued (MG, tjkraz, PAMOKW, Nick, MarkRG, disneydiane to list only a few of the wonderful people here), who was knowlegable in which areas (Rich "Room size" Hyams, Cask "DVC Planner" Bill), and whom to take with a grain (or 10) of salt (taking the 5th here). So as long as the opinions don't get too personal - or nasty - I'd really rather hear everyone's opinion and make up my own mind (or what's left of it).

Very good! You can see clearly enough to know to make your own opinion on what you read here and not let anyone on any extreme sway you.

THAT is exactly my point. I am very tired of people dropping by a post and shooting it down with a comment that says that anyone who wishes to be involved in said subject is somehow inferior for participating. This is NOT the first time this has happened either. This is also not the first time that I have had to deal with such opposition to a subject. And from the same people then, as well. And the fact of the matter is, all those depreciating comments from last time amounted to absolutely nothing, and infact just made the actual event more enjoyable. You don't like something DVC does? Fine. There are things about DVC I don't like either. But I would never write comments that would make anyone who did or did not participate feel inferior.

And I am very tired of being given those kind of comments by the same people who have an ax to grind with DVC and have to bring that to bear each time DVC does do something. That I will not accept, nor do I have to. I will stand on my opinion solidly each and every time.

I have a great secret to share - noone is inferior and noone is superior, all are equal.

I will even extend my comment further than the usual as quoted by Mr Fedora.

If a person has such recurring issues with Disney or DVC, which in at least one case extend to a point BEFORE even being an owner, why bother buying in the first place? This is a concept I cannot even begin to fathom.

And this post should be on the debate board, as the subject matter is very open to such debate.

And Mark, my guess that the group of people that you are speaking of have an ax to grind with life in general.

You named every person that I recieved great input from. Done!

Some like to "play the game"...I like to watch! lol

MarkRG, Let me state the purpose of this thread is not for a debate board.

Acceptance of differences of opinion is the intended purpose of this thread.

....over on the R&N board. How'd I miss MH thread ? must have been mixed in with too many "Hey everybody, we just bought ... "
