I don't get the bad reviews of Sci-Fi Dine In Theater.....

DH & I have a fun time there. We have always gotten the burger and fries/onion rings. They have Fosters on tap, which is a bonus in my book.

If you are on the Dining Plan and using credits, then, no, it is not the most efficient use of credits. But we don't do the dining plan, so that doesn't enter into our consideration.

I think the only other TS place at DHS which sounds interesting to me is Brown Derby for their Cobb Salad, and for whatever reason, I just haven't gone there and tried it yet. Maybe next time.

We have eaten here 3 different times on three different visits and will not go back. It wasnt that the food was bad (OK not bad not good IMHO), it was the service was so slow and it took over an hour for a meal that quality wise is more CS than TS. I think every time we have watched the movie clips 2 times....the novelty wears off quickly.
When I was making ADRs for our upcoming trip, the CM making the reservation tried to convince me three times to make an ADR for this location...Im not sure why they were pushing it so hard.

I'm so glad to hear this! We have an ADR for Monday at lunch.
Question: I had heard that there's a Tom & Jerry cartoon? Is this still true? My DD5 is a HUGE fan!

:thumbsup2 Sure do!! All the sci-fi related clips were fun. I think kids would really enjoy the atmosphere.

I'm glad at least I'm not the only one who found Sci-Fi to be a pretty good place to eat. The theming alone really added to the meal, but like I also said, our server was the best part. I think that's where a lot of bad reviews come from- the lack of good service.

Putting the difference of taste between guest aside...consistency is an issue at a lot of the TS Restaurants at Disney. If you get a server that just can't get it together you will have a less than favorable experience. We have had good experiences here the majority of times, but the waiter/waitress attitude/performance will be a major factor in your experience...no one likes a cold hamburger because they failed to serve your meal when it was ready or choke down a meal without a drink refill because your server apparently vaporized from sight.

These are the times you tip appropriately to motivate the server to find another line of work or provide better service.

Lunch at Sci-Fi is a must for me on every trip. The food is definitely above average for what it is and the milkshakes/flavored sodas are great! For me, I'm mostly there for the movie clips, but I also stay for the food. :cool1:

I ate at Sci-Fi once and I was unimpressed. I've eaten as a party of 1 in other ts resturaunts, but this time i really felt like i was eating alone. I was "hitchiking" with 2 other parties, i was in the back row. and the server would stand in the front of the car and joke with the 2 parties and not with me. he was quite attentive to them and their refillls and food and such, but would often neglect mine.

and i'm not huge on service (at prime time i just enjoyed watching other get picked on) but the food din't even make up for it. i had the burger and got it medium and it seemed raw to me (i know too many people who work or have worked in kitchens to send it back for something that minor). it wasn't very good, i've had much better other places for the price. and it was dinner so i had to ask for the burger and the waiter made a big deal like it was a big problem to find out if they could do it. he encouraged me to get something else, but the hostess told me i could order off the lunch menu if that's what i wanted.

i was unimpressed with my visit and would not return.

oh, and i agree, i saw the clips a lot of times (probably 3) before i left.

We love Si-Fi. No it's not the best on property. For burgers, fries and a coke it's just fine. Our servers have alway been great. We received poor service at California Grill (it was like being in a French restaurant). I would pay just to watch the movies.

I'm confused by this. So Sci-fi was cool right....but you wanted to add CG was like eating in France at Epcot and you had bad service there? :confused3

Wow, sound like most people that didn't like it, had a slow server.

We eat there every trip.

You either love Sic-Fi, Retro cartoons, and Monsters....or your don't and think of it as just another place to get some food.

Twice we've had servers that were too fast. Once we had a server that was slow. I guess its just the luck of the draw.

We too really enjoyed eating at Sci-Fi!Infact it is the one place hubby has requested to go back to when we go back.Even Grandpa liked it too.It was great that they could seat us early when our little guy was having a meltdown cause he was hungry.:goodvibes
