Yep we used to do Values and actually loved them. We were even able to stay at POFQ once, thanks to my generous MIL. On our 3-4 th trip (we just finished #10), DH and I decided WDW was our place, sorta like a favorite cabin in the woods or beach house. I was really interested in DVC, DH was happy with Pop....but he loves me and supported my decision to buy in....and probably to get me to shush about it....but whatever it took, we now own at AKV. We have made 2 trips using our points, staying in studios and providing a second studio for my MIL.
SO what makes it different from staying in Values? Well after so many trips to WDW I don't have to be there at rope drop, we know where we want to eat, and we really do not need any more souvenirs. We are in our 40s and childless. So it is our yearly escape and our "special place". We love Pop and actually stayed there for one night on our recent trip. The AKV buses seem to be faster, the walk to the gate is easier and closer, the resort is more quiet (this is Kidani, not necessarily Jambo). The pool area is top notch and there are animals out our balcony most of the time. We do not mind returning to the room for a rest or cold drink (no more lugging ice from the vending area). It is kinda like buying a car, in your teens a Pinto is cool cause you are just happy to have wheels. Your twenties you get a Mustang with money from your first real job. The kids come or you get married and decide to purchase the mini van. Then one day the kids are older, going off to college and you decide to buy a Corvette. Why? Owning DVC completely changes your Disney trip just like a Corvette completely changes your drive to work....
