I don't GET Chef Mickey's

Chef Mickeys was our very first character meal, and the only other one we've done is 1900 Park Fare. Both were for breakfast. We actually had a good time at CM, mostly because of the atmosphere and characters. We liked that we got to see the Fab Five. The food was OK, but was better at 1900PF. My son really liked it though and wants to go back. I'm not opposed, but I want to try more places. We don't get to WDW very often and there are a lot of choices!

Whenever we get the urge for Chef Mickey's, we do it ourselves at home. Invite all the neighborhood birds and children over, throw a couple pots of mac and cheese on the carpet, and have them walk over it for a couple of hours.

The place it self was very cool and the characters are really amazing. But the food was just your basic average buffet food not anything special. Your kids would probably enjoy it because the characters are cute in there chef outfits.

We've done Chef Mickey's several times and the kiddos always love it. Admittedly, the food has gone down hill but the character interaction is great there. Personally, I don't see any harm in trying it once.
Much to my kids dismay I have taken it out of rotation this time to try Garden Grill; but no one is super excited about the food choices there so hopefully the interaction is awesome!

We've always had a good time at Chef Mickey's, and the food has been good whenever we've eaten there.

Same here. We have eaten at Chef Mickeys for both breakfast and dinner every trip and we have never had a bad experience. What one person likes, the next one won't, so it's great to have so many choices :goodvibes.

Don't get me wrong I love a good character meal- we did 4 on our last trip but I had no motivation to book Chef Mickey- even with all the hype.

Now that we are going again in May I felt the need to book it but I'm not excited about it. My only real motivation is that I know Mickey will be there and that I could be missing something.

Help me please. What is the draw? We walked by it in Sept. and it just looked like a random place sitting in the middle of a loud lobby. I have 2 and 4 year old boys so do you think it's worth it?

My mother used to hate it. We only went cause I love it and now she does too.
The food is great.

Only reason I booked it was because 3 of my children asked me to (the 4th can't even say chef or mickey so she doesn't get a vote). If it wasn't for my children I would have picked elsewhere but if it wasn't for the children hubby and I would probably not be going to Disney so we are making the monsters happy and taking them to Chef Mickeys.

I love Chef Mickey's! I love the parmesan mashed potatoes. It's a fun and happy place to go so I think your boys will love it.

We have done both and will continue to do them because we enjoy them. We usually will choose breakfast over dinner but we enjoyed our meals at dinner several times now. The characters have always been great and we even have had custom Birthday cakes to be delivered there as well and the characters were amazing. Pluto "helped" my older daughter blow out her candles and Mickey was there with my younger daughter's cake. I think the characters are great and we tend to do DXDDP most trips or we have TIW so most of our meals are table service, because we have two small girls we always do at least one character meal a day so we have had a lot of character meals (we also go to WDW at least twice a year). To each their own on food, my family have always enjoyed our meal. It's a buffet so you have to go in knowing you are not getting gourmet but it is still good. My families favorite breakfast buffet is Chef Mickey's followed by The Crystal Palace and Cape May so if you don't want to risk not enjoying dinner try the breakfast that way you can still get the characters. We usually stay at Bay Lake Tower so it's close for us so we don't think twice about going. I think food is so subjected what some people like other's won't. So we always try something ourselves before we make a decision. We have always enjoyed breakfast at Hollywood and Vine and many do not like it at all. We also do not care for Boma and that is a very popular restaurant to many. Some people like 'Ohana some do not, my family happens to be one who LOVE it so I think it just really is such a matter of taste. Good luck with your decision OP! If you want Mickey he is also at Tusker House in AK, 'Ohana at breakfast, Garden Grill at Epcot, Mickey's Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness so there is options! :goodvibes

We usually skip it as well. We ate at 1900 Park Fare for breakfast and I was pretty impressed. I enjoyed that buffet. I also like Crystal Palace as well. In general we don't do buffets in the evening, I would rather order off of a menu.

We love the character interaction there and that is the only reason why we go there.
