I don’t know where we’re staying, but I know where we’re eating! May 2011 *NEW 5/10!

Happy New Year, Joyce!

One of my goals on the disneymoon is to get more PP pictures, so I'm planning on pre-ordering one too. Otherwise, I just don't think about it that much. :confused3

I certainly hope your room is going to be extra clean! No more dirty rooms! :lmao:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

List of things we want to do this trip
-Spend plenty of time relaxing at our resort (or other resorts). As DVC members staying on points, we can pool hop. Though having been a DIS member since 2002, the words 'pool hop' make me edgy and nervous... I'm gonna feel like an outlaw :rotfl:
-Try some new restaurants. We've got ADRs booked for new places, and plenty of unscheduled meals so we can try different CS places. This will also free us up to wander around more.
-Get pictures with the characters. I thought I'd get a lot last time, but ended up with just one with Alice. I hope to do better this time.
-Use Photopass more. I think I'll pre-pay for the CD so we'll be more inclined to seek out photographers.
-Bring the Hidden Mickey book. We forgot it last time and ended up taking pictures of pages in a store in Epcot. It was embarrassing. I will remember the book this time.
-Wishes. I am breaking my own 'no nighttime spectacular shows' rule. But I must say, I've been hankering to see this lately...
-Jellyrolls. We balked at the $10 a head cover charge, but I think we'll go ahead and splurge this time around. ;)

And just as important (in my mind, anyway)...
List of things we don't want to do this trip
-Toy Story Mania. Unless the wait is 5 minutes, we will not ride this. Read my last trip report if you'd like to know why... the ride kicked our butts emotionally. And we are pretty obsessed with ToT, so our Studios time is better spent there.

I love all of your "to dos" Especially getting a better use out of the pp.

as for your "not to do" and the tsm...:rotfl: I read your tr...and literally laughed when I read this on your list. What? You don't want to spend another several hours in line for this ride? ;)

I was going through major Disney blues. So much so that I was convincing myself that we didn't need a trip to the world this year. Yea...okay! Now that we have a trip in the works, I'm feeling quite like myself again!

This is me too! Now that I might have one to plan, I too am feeling more chipper. :thumbsup2

I definitely understand why you don't have a desire to ride TSMM again! 2.5 hours last time, right? Horrible!
I hope BLT pays more attention to housekeeping than the Poly did-- that was ridiculous last time.
We're not huge nighttime shows either, but Wishes is just magical. I'm sure you'll love it!

I'm joining in. Better late than never, right? I was going through major Disney blues. So much so that I was convincing myself that we didn't need a trip to the world this year. Yea...okay! Now that we have a trip in the works, I'm feeling quite like myself again!

As far as southwest and less than $200 flights go, are you referring to the total cost for 2 people round trip? That would be amazing! I snagged us some $69 each way flights to MCO for our cruise next month in the beginning of December and I am pretty happy with that!

The Backstage Magic Tour sounds like so much fun! I want to look into a trip for our next trip. How long is this tour?

Let me know how the resort time goes! I think I need to change the way I do that this trip! :)

Welcome aboard! I tend to avoid the DIS when there are no trips in the works, or at least no hope of a trip in the works. So I know what you mean!
I'm glad to hear that you've got some planning going on!

I meant $200 for one person round trip! You got a great deal on airfare!!

Backstage Magic is listed as between 6-8hrs long. An all day adventure!

Maybe I'll fax a request: "Dear nice Cast Member, Please do not check us into a room that has not been cleaned yet. Love, Joyce"

Yeah, we've seen enough of the queue of TSM to last us a lifetime!

I like to sing the Wishes song (the part sung by the kid) in a very high pitched voice as we wonder around WDW. I figure the least I can do is actually watch the show!

Loving your list, all good must do's and don'ts :thumbsup2

I keep forgetting you're working on a PTR. I got started thinking about the chocolate buffet last night. I'm struggling to get all my friends on the same page regarding a trip this coming fall. :( Its going to have to be off site, most people don't really want to pay to be onsite.

Hope all is well. Hi to Ben!

I'm joining in! Your PTR title caught my eye, because we too are unsure of where we are staying! I put Bonnet Creek in my sig because I'm thinking that's where we'll end up, but it is still up in the air at this moment. Although, I have until November to figure it out, so I guess we are not doing too bad. :thumbsup2

Sorry about the loss of your kitty. DH & I went through something similar at the beginning of November. Our kitty Linus got very sick right as we were coming home from the hospital with our new baby, who was jaundiced, and right in the middle of me dealing with kidney stones and having a bad reaction to anesthesia. It was just a horrible week all around! Losing pets is so hard and so emotional. I hope you are feeling a little better and remembering the good times with Otis.

Thanks! Sometimes I feel like my 'don't's must seem weird to all the people that have them as 'do's!
I just caught up on your TR, and I can't believe the disaster thet DLRP was! So sorry about that!

Hi Betsy! No worries, there are so many PTRs and TRs that I want to read, and I lose track of them. It's a lot of work to DIS! :rotfl:

How many are going on your fall trip? I hope everyone can pull together and you get the great trip you deserve!

Welcome!! And thank you so much for your kind words about Otis.
I'm sorry to hear about Linus, and the health of your family! I hope you are doing better now.

We are still booked at Kidani village, and I am starting to be pretty excited about it! Though I haven't been able to bring myself to cancel our Boardwalk waitlist. So as of now, we still don't really know where we are staying!

Um, it's an exciting day here at the Ben & Joyce household.
Ok, maybe 'exciting' is a strong word.

But I happened to notice today that Ben started a countdown to our trip.

This is what our Sept 2010 countdown looked like:
IMG_1015.jpg

(I wish we were at 45 already!)

Ben added the artwork throughout the wait. But I started the countdown (at 99 days. That is the random number I chose; I did it for our wedding and the last Disney trip). I always start it, cause I am the one that is super Disney obsessed. I will gladly share any artwork he adds during the next few months.

Today, in the corner of that little mini whiteboard, there was a '113'. I think that means that Ben is trying to challenge my status as the Disney obsessed by beating me to the countdown!

And since we're already counting down, I'd like to share my day one plans!

Sunday, 5/1
We leave Providence at 6:30am to land in MCO at 9:20. Ben's parents live near TF Green airport, so we will probably drive there to leave our dog, Penny Monster, and get a ride to the airport. There is also a high probability that Ben's mom will make us eat something.

We are taking Magical Express this trip, and I think we are actually checking our bags. We never check bags, cause Ben doesn't like to. I'm really not sure why... maybe he doesn't like waiting at baggage claim? But with ME, we don't have to worry about this, and Southwest doesn't charge for checked bags. So woo-hoo, we can bring more stuff (mostly food and alcohol. Priorities)!
I'm guessing we'll check in to Kidani Village (or the Boardwalk?) around 11am or so. DVC rooms have 4pm check in, so I am assuming the chance of our room being ready will be slim.
Which means we'll head right out to the MK

We have to start there, even though it is always crazy crowded when we stroll in mid afternoon on a Sunday. But as long as I can catch a Country Bears Matinee, I'll be happy. And that is always do-able.

We also have to go to MK first because we will be starving and we have lunch booked at the Plaza Restaurant. This is a first for us, and I am excited! I never even knew this place existed until recently, and it looks just right for a nice lunch.

After lunch, I am hopeful our room (wherever it is) will be ready and we can head to the resort to explore our new digs. Maybe hit a pool, maybe get a drink.

We'll need dinner somewhere, but we don't have an ADR (can I tell you how tempted I am to make one?) and are going to grab CS somewhere. We may even go to DTD and eat at Wolfgang Puck Express... I haven't been there in a while and I miss it!

Depending on where/when we eat dinner, we might head to another park (I am thinking Studios, cause we won't be there much later in the trip). The MK is open till 2am with EMH this day. Of course, last time, we tried to do MK evening EMH, it was mobbed! But a late night in the Magic Kingdom is tempting, especially if we took a nap earlier.

So there's the plan. It kinda reads like a trip we already too, huh? It will be interesting to see what we actually end up doing!

*Sidenote* no less than 3 WDW commercials (well, one was a DVC ad) came on while I was writing this.

It sounds like a great first day! I'll be excited to read about lunch at the Plaza - it's on my list of places to try in the near future. :thumbsup2

I'm so jealous of your trip being so soon! Including myself there is now five people who will be going. Myself, one from KY, two from WA, and one from FL. I'm planning on getting an annual pass for the trip. Its shrunk from ten days to seven. I'm hoping to pull together a quick trip to see the Christmas lights and then maybe a Labor Day trip 2012???? Seems a good use of a pass to me!

Great plans for your 1st day. They seem almost relaxing...for a day at Disney, that is!

Love your last countdown calendar--it's so cute! I wish you were at 45 days already too, because then that means I would be at 46!! :rotfl:

Thanks! Sometimes I feel like my 'don't's must seem weird to all the people that have them as 'do's!
I just caught up on your TR, and I can't believe the disaster thet DLRP was! So sorry about that!

I get the don'ts and your reasons for them :)

DLRP was such a disaster am so gutted that we spent all that money that could have gone towards the wedding, but you live and learn I guess :)

Day 1 sounds good, lunch at the Plaza and you should defo go WPE for dinner as I have heard and read so many great reviews on the place :)

Hi, Joyce! Sounds like a nice first day. Definitely recommend WPE for dinner! It FEELS like a TS dinner. The pizzas are delicious!
I love that the Country Bears are a must-do for you on your first afternoon! With a nap (and maybe minimal alcohol, lol), I'm sure you guys can stay late for MK EMH.

Hi!

I've just read right through your trip report and really enjoyed it,

good info on the best places to keep cool in World showcase... because my DBF is a teacher we are destined to only be able to go in hot and crowded july/august! So ready to do the KP missions now!:yay:

You are so lucky to have a trip booked already and congratulations (belated - :lmao: just recalled you like parenthesis as I opened brackets!) on DVC and winning Ben over to the dark side of Disney addicts!

Cool artwork on the countdown calendar, my family are goin to Port Orleans in May and I can get a little excited as they're bringing me back a Disney Dooney & Bourke handbag! :cool1:

Its kindof like a mini adventure within your planning not knowing which resort your staying at, and the tours you have planned sound really interesting! from no trip to Disney at all to a really good exciting different one! this a very long rambly message but I've been pretty immersed in your trip and new pre trip report for the last hour or two...so...:surfweb: looking forward to reading more

I have neglected my PTR! Even though thinking about our trip takes up 89% of my thoughts at any given time, I just haven't had a chance to post.

Thanks to everyone for hanging around and continuing to read!

very exciting plans!!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks! I will share more soon, promise!

I'll be sure to give a detailed dining report. Maybe this time I'll take pictures of food... kept meaning to last trip!

I agree- relaxing but still jam packed with Disney fun!

Ben hasn't added any artwork to this one, yet. I'll be sure to post updates when he does!

I really felt for you guys after reading your report. But thank you for posting it- maybe save some others the trouble! And you'll always have WDW!

Gotta have my bears! I just love 'em.
It has been a looooong time since I've eaten at WPE, so I really want to head over there this trip.

Wow, that Epcot doodle is really good!

I will tell Ben you said so- he is pretty proud of his dry erase marker art skills :)

Thank you for reading my report- I'm glad you liked it!

Keeping cool at Epcot became a challenge in itself, but the drinks helped a lot :rolleyes1 And we just love Kim Possible!

I'm jealous of your Dooney & Burke bag! I love them!

Can't wait to report back on all the new experiences for this trip, should be fun trying a bunch of new things!

i would first like to say that i am ashamed that i had NO idea you started another PTR!!

i decided to click on your TR and saw a new link and was mad that i had no clue!

looking forward to reading more!!

Glad you're here now!
