I don’t know where we’re staying, but I know where we’re eating! May 2011 *NEW 5/10!

How cute is that cat-reaction pic?! Im in love with it! Tree looks fantastic and merry, and the new ornament is a perfect addition! ;)

Excited to hear more about the upcoming trip - and get to spy some of your holiday fun this winter

We went 2xs in May
the first time the weather was PERFECT! Not much humidity, but the sun was strong. The nights were very nice, during the day we did tanks and shorts at night we did t shirts and shorts. And I swear to you we got 1 shower our whole 7 day stay while we were at Epcot. I ran into the shop thats right as you enter WS and when I came out it stopped.

Now the second time was totally flukey, everyone in FL kept saying so. It rained all day everyday. But as I said, a total fluke, I think when we left we found out that was the most FL had gotten in May in a few decades lol.

That being said I would go back in a heartbeat in May b/c crowds are awesome and the weather is too.

Thanks for that info! I like the thought that it might actually cool down a smidge at night!
I'd take rain over oppressive heat if I had the choice (too bad we can't pick our weather!)

He is a super cute kitten!

We are doing Christmas with Ben's family this Saturday... holy early!

Within minutes of getting off the phone with DVC member services, I was copying park hours and making lists of restaurants we wanted.

I wasn't sure how easy it would be to score the ADRs we were looking for, since we were already within the 180 day window. Luckily, May seems to be a somewhat slower time of year and our requests aren't the most hard-to-get places.
Where are we hoping to eat?

Ben requested we do 'Ohana again, we both love the place and it is quickly becoming a trip tradition for us.

We had planned on eating at Coral Reef last time, but ended up canceling because timing just didn't work out. We still want to try to eat here!

Since we are (probably/maybe) staying at Kidani Village, I really want to try Sanna. The menu looked so good that I am thinking we will eat here even if we do end up at the Boardwalk.

And I have always been curious to try the Plaza Restaurant at MK, so that's another on the list.

I did manage to get all of these! And since we know where we're eating each day, we also know what our trip itinerary looks like. Mostly.

There are a couple of super cool things we want to add to our trip, so that could change our schedule a bit if they work out. I'll have an update on that when I know more!

The Coral Reef is fantastic! You'll love it! Sanaa does look yummy-- love Indian food, especially naan!

We have never stayed at AKL, I'm looking forward to it! This is my DSIL's home property. We actually have 4 rooms booked at AKL for our extended family. My SIL has booked a two bedroom, so excited to check it out.

'OHana has become a tradition for us too. :goodvibes And I've heard really good things about Saana. I don't think its really my type of food, but people seem to love it. :thumbsup2

I agree, we really enjoyed the Coral Reef. It gets such negative reviews, but we had a party of 11 and everyone enjoyed it! My dad is really picky about fish and he said it was one of his favs. I had the steak and it was very yummy. The best was the chocolate wave dessert, I love chocolate, raspberries so this was right up my alley! Our waiter was trying to talk me out of it, recommending something else, but I knew what I wanted and don't mess with a girl who knows she wants chocolate!!!!! :thumbsup2

Sadly we never had Ohana's for dinner b/c I worry too much with the peanut sauce (DD has a sever allergy to peanuts), I always hear its delish! If I could get my parents to go with us this year I'm going to try and convince them to take DD while me and Fiance eat there, since we will be on our honeymoon and will want some alone time ;)

Joining in. I loved your trip report last time.

We will be there mid-May and we are renting DVC points.(all part of the master plan to get DH to consider DVC one day). I was hoping for Boardwalk too but it wasn't available for the days we wanted. We are now doing a split stay between VWL and then move to BCV for the weekend for Star Wars weekend.

I hope your waitlist comes through and you get BWV. It is pretty exciting not knowing where you are staying although I'm sure it can be a pain sometimes.

Can't wait to hear about your ADR's.

I have a sad life update to share :sad2:

A couple of months ago, our cat Otis was diagnosed with kidney failure. He got sick out of the blue, and we have no idea why. But with treatment, he got much better for a couple of months until a week ago when he got sick all over again, even worse this time. There was nothing we could do this time around and we lost him on Tuesday.

He was my cuddly guy and would usually help me write TR updates (he was always on my lap). I don't think there's another cat out there like Otis...

How fun! I've eaten at Boma, and spent a little time checking out the AKL. It seems like such a great resort!

I stumbled across your PTR and I'm along for the ride... now I'm off to read your TR :goodvibes

Welcome! I hope you enjoy reading!

We are using Ohana as a lunch and dinner this time- a really early dinner time. That way we can justify stuffing ourselves silly!

We love 'Ohana. But for me, it's more about the appetizers than the meat skewers (which are pretty good, but not as good as the appetizers!)

Thanks for reading my trip report and for following me over here!
I guess the Boardwalk is just a popular place! I have a feeling that if we do get in there, it won't be till right before we leave!

We LOVE LOVE LOVE AKL! (in case my name didn't give it away!) We have gone to Disney for the past 3 years in May and stayed at AKL all 3 times--once in DVC Jambo house. I have just booked our next trip for May 2011...we will be there almost the exact same dates as you--May 2-8th :) We are trying club level for the first time this trip and are super excited about it!

AKL is such a beautiful resort--we fell in love with it the first time we stayed there and haven't stayed anywhere else since. I am sure that you will enjoy it as well. Every time we show up and they play the african music on the bus as you arrive, I just feel like we have come home. I know, I know, corny  but I just can't help it. DH and I love it for it's theming and amenities, our kids love it for the animal views from our room.

We have also eaten at Sanaa and loved it. The mustard seed crusted scallop app was outstanding as was the sustainable fish of the day (cooked and served in giant banana leaves). And the view of the savanna while you eat is amazing as well.

Have fun planning your trip--I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you won't get BWV so you can keep Kidani--but then again, I am partial ;)

Oh, and by the way, I also agree with the PP's opinion on the weather in May--it's great! Warm days, cooler nights, not much rain :thumbsup2

We have a reservation at Boma the night we arrive. Flying in from Seattle is an all day trip (okay maybe not all day but it sure feels like it...we leave Seattle at 6:30 AM and arrive in Orlando at 5:00PM...that's a looonngg day). I'm hoping that the other 12 members of party are still up for dinner for our 8:00 ADR.

I am so sorry for your loss

Oh, Joyce, I am so, so sorry to hear about Otis. I know what it's like to lose a beloved pet and I want you to know that I am thinking about you and sending you a hug

Oh Joyce, I am so so sorry to hear about Otis. I know it is so terribly difficult to lose a pet. At least he isn't suffering anymore (although I know that doesn't make it any easier).
