I did it..........I deleted my FB account

Nope no remorse. The only thing I really miss is the stupid game I played, but that will pass. Thank you DisneyDoc, I feel the EXACT same way. It does seem a little like bragging and spying............again....TOO MEEEE. My niece LOVES IT and uses it several times a day. It is interesting to see the reactions from people though.

In my military-stay-at-home-mom community I would be lost without facebook. Everything is done on facebook...play dates, social events, flea market, town recommendations, mom nights out, etc. Also, being a military spouse we move every few years. It is really nice having an easy way to keep up on all of my friends from former posts.

This is interesting. I'm glad to see that there are others that haven't joined, like Kevin. When people ask, I always say that I'm the ONE that hasn't joined FB because it seems like everyone else has!

I would like to say not now and not ever, but I have a 12 year old daughter. I haven't allowed her to get on FB (my excuse is FB's rule which specifies 14 years old and up), but I will probably get an account when she does. I don't like FB's ethics (or lack of), so maybe by the time she is 14, there will be something else (Google+?) with better practices.

After seeing my 14-year old daughter's feelings hurt by one more FB post, I posed the challenge to her to stay off of FB for Lent (which starts on Wednesday). While I started using it to stay in touch with friends after we moved, I have found that they are posting less and less, and I end up following my kids' friends more and more. So I'm up for the challenge, then we can decide what to do after Lent ends...

But I'll still be checking Disboards!!

While I realize that a lot of people use it to keep in touch with distant family & friends (I have family spread across the globe-England to South Africa) I find that it became more like high school for me. I would wonder why so-n-so didn't comment on my page, but they did on another page, for me, it just became too , braggy I guess. Besides, my distant family never posted anyway LOL, and my close family, well we're close and really don't need FB to communicate, we were successful staying in touch before FB, and will continue-PFB.

Now, I am NOT SAYING it's horrible for everyone, just for me.
