So, we are back from our Disney trip (:sad1:) and this was the first time we ever used the Deluxe Dining Plan. We booked LOTS of signature restaurants to use up the credits and we still were stuffed most of the time. We did try lots of new restaurants.

SO..review number 1 is Sci Fi Dine in for dinner on arrival day. We had been there once before for lunch and loved the theming, but the food was just OK (besides the really yummy onion rings and dessert).

I ordered the onion rings as a appetizer and DH order the spinach and artichoke dip with chips. BOTH were really good.

For our entrees, I ordered the shrimp pasta and DH got the ribs. His was just OK and I didn't like mine. The shrimp was tough and the pasta overcooked.
Picture001.jpg

Picture002.jpg

Desserts were both yummy. I had the peanut butter and chocolate cake and DH had the hot fudge sundae. They also brought DH a birthday card and another sundae.

Dessert and apps and the theming were good. Go for the ambience, not for the food.

Stay tuned for Day 2..breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table, lunch at Yak and Yeti and dinner at Jiko.

Morning of day 2- we had 8:30 ressies for CRT and I was able to get these pictures of the castle WITHOUT people.

We got to the castle and Cinderella was so charming. She asked if DH was my prince and I said yes and then she asked him how often we danced together and he laughed as I explained he didn't dance. She said that dancing with their one true love is easy and maybe we would like to dance now (that never happened). She asked me if she could take DH's arm like she does her prince and that she promised to give him back. So adorable.
Picture057.jpg

We had three choices for breakfast and I got the French toast (YUM) and DH got the omelette (maybe it was a frittata?) which was also very delicious. There was also a a cold plate.

ONE OF THE SCARIEST THINGS happened when we went to pay. DH lost his fanny pack (with BOTH of our keys to the kingdom, the keys to our rental car, his wallet and his Maui Jim sunglasses):scared1::scared1:. Turns out the family at the table next to us found it and turned it in. I swear DH aged 5 years in that moment. THANK GOODNESS for honest people.

We both loved CRT..the food, the theming, the princesses..and we would go back again.

So we were stuffed from breakfast for a while, so we had lunch at 2. This was our second time at Yak and Yeti and they sat us in exactly the same table.

I got the potstickers (pan seared) and DH got the lettuce cups for an appetizer (both were wonderful..this was the first time we got the potstickers and I first tried the lettuce cups because of what I read here on the DIS).
Picture143.jpg

DH got the tempura shrimp and I got the steak and shrimp (YUM again)
Picture144.jpg

Picture146.jpg

Dessert was the really wonderful wontons in vanilla sauce (I could have that for all three courses..yum). I didn't finish my entree because I knew the dessert was so great.
Picture147.jpg

Our reservation was 8:45 but we were seated 30 minutes later (this was the only time the entire trip we had to wait like that, so I can't complain). We had to wait again for our waitress and we were one of two tables (and the other table was...well, needy I guess is a nice way of saying it). We were tires and the early morning (we were up at 2 am to make our 6 am flight) were catching up with us. We still enjoyed the food, but last time the service was better.

I had the tastes of Africa appetizer and DH got the BBQ chicken flat bread. We both loved his and he loved mine. I liked the humus with olive but the other two dips were way too spicy for me. DH preferred the green one to the red one.
Picture013-1.jpg

DH had the swordfish and HE LOVED IT. This was the first time he ever had it but he was feeling brave, so he ordered it. I also thought it was yummy.
Picture016.jpg

I had the filet on mac and cheese. It was still yummy, but somehow not as good as the first time I got it two years ago.
Picture017.jpg

We split the creme brule (YUM).
Picture018.jpg

I would so go back to Jiko again...I would try something new next time.

Day 3 - Lunch at Mama Melrose and Dinner at Citricos (which was probably my favorite meal of the trip).

So we went to Mama Melrose for the first time and it was really great.

We had the antipasta and the bruschetta (which had its only little hidden mickey).
Picture017-1.jpg

Picture020.jpg

I had the chicken parm and DH had the spicy sausage pasta. Both were really good.
Picture021.jpg

Picture022.jpg

DH had..um, I don't remember what is was called but it was chocolate and mine was the cheesecake. We had heard mixed reviews about MM, but we are planning on going back.
Picture023.jpg

Picture025.jpg

We had dinner at Citricos and loved it (my favorite meal of the trip). The food was outstanding and the restaurant was just beautiful. They sat us near the kicthen when I saw this hidden mickey.
Picture307.jpg

We both had the crab appetizer, which was just unbeleivable. It wasn't fried like most crab cakes and the sauce was so good.
Picture309.jpg

DH got the short rib that was cooked for 12 hours in red wine sauce. I got the veal shank with was so tender and tasty.
Picture310.jpg

Picture311.jpg

Dh had the banana chocolate torte and I had the lemon raspberry cheesecake.
Picture314.jpg

The food, restaurant and service were excellent.

Stay tuned for Day 4- Breakfast in Norway, Lunch at Tokoyo Dining and dinner at the Flying Fish (I am full just thinking about it).

Great photos! You're making me want to go back already.

Did you get any pictures of that cute family that sat with you at Teppan Edo? ;)

I'm in. You are off to a great start. I'm so glad you enjoyed Mama Melrose...we've always enjoyed it and have never had a bad meal in four trips. We ordered off the lunch menu at dinner time at Sci-Fi (DH had the reuben--delicious, and I had a cheeseburger which was very good...the dinner menu just did not appeal to me at all).

HEY Buddy!! Yes, yes I do have some pics of that nice lady and her two cute boys...you gotta wait a couple of entries..but they are there

(We were lucky enough to sit with another DISer:cool1:)

Thanks ..yeah MM was wonderful and I would only do Sci Fi for lunch again. We had the BBQ chicken sandwich for lunch and it was really good.

OK, I know lots of people really like Akerhaus, but this was our least favorite meals. The princesses were in character like CRT, but the food was not as good. There is a cold buffet and then the bring a hot plate. My favorite part of the meal was the potatoes. DH asked that I cancel all other character breakfast after this meal (Ohana and 1900 Park Fair).

We had lunch at Tokoyo Dining and it was excellent. We both had the shrimp cocktail and the tempura/sushi sampler (EXCELLENT and this was a nice change of pace). We both had the iced green tea too, which was very refreshing.
Picture093.jpg

Picture101-1.jpg

DH had the chocolate ginger cake and I had the green tea pudding for dessert. I would strongly recommend this restaurant.

Two years ago, we had our favorite meal at the Flying Fish. Everything was yummy, the restaurant was beautiful and we had a wonderful wait "team". Jay, who is the best server I have ever had (and I waited tables for 7 years myself), who was training an adorable guy with an irrestible accent named Rogerio...well, Rogerio was our waiter and we were thrilled to see him. He was just a charming and wonderful as we remembered.

They brought us an amuse bouche of soup that was yummy (I think it was butternut) and we both had the crab cake for an appetizer.
Picture125.jpg

Picture126.jpg

We both had the char crusted steak (YUM- This is one of the best steaks ever).
Picture127.jpg

I had the trio of desserts and DH had the apple cobbler.
Picture130-1.jpg

This was DH's favorite meal and I really enjoyed it too. If you go, see if you can sit in either Jay or Rogerio's section..they are great.

Day 5..lunch at Tusker House and dinner at Teppan Edo (with a fellow DISer no less)

I am on board! Such wonderful reviews! :thumbsup2

We are going to upgrade part of our stay next summer to the DxDDP too, so this is VERY helpful! :goodvibes

Great reviews and pictures! We are eating at most of the places you have reviewed! :goodvibes I cannot wait for Citricos!

Amazing pics and reviews! DH agrees with you, FF has the best NY Strip ever!

Totally digging your reviews!:cool1:
Thanks

Glad to hear you are enjoying it and it will help. Doing the signature restaurant uses lots of credits (and is delicious too).

Citricos is just amazing...I am sure you will love it.

I am not normally a NY Strip kind of girl, but the steak there is amazing. Something about the coating and cooking it over the wood...drooling just thinking about it.

We ate at Tusker House at its first available opening (11:30 I think). We had not liked Boma (I know, I know..lots of people do, but we just didn't)...so I was a little nervous. But we really enjoyed Tusker House. The salad, curried chicken and especially the seafood stew were yummy. I enjoyed the carving station (but DH is kinda more a well done guy, so he avoids this kind of stuff). The desserts were really great (especially the choc cups filled with mousse...ddrrooolll).

Picture003-1.jpg

This is the second time we would eat at Teppan Edo. We were ushered to the very back of the restaurant with two other couples and a lady with her two sons. Turns out she is a DISer (hi Elaine:flower3:) and she and her kids were really great. I ordered a My Fuji drink (not sure what was in it but it was good) and DH had beer.
Picture281.jpg

We both had the tempura appetizer and I didn't take a picture since I already had at Tokoyo Dining (same for the desserts as we got exactly the same thing again). We both had the steak and shrimp and it was excellent. As was the "show". If you are considering this restaurant, don't hestitate. The food is wonderful, the restaurant is very nice, the "entertainment" is interesting and you may be lucky enough to sit next to another DISer.
