This is a completely off topic post but I had to share this with yall. At the beginning of last week, I realized that I needed to start the process of getting Lauren into a preschool for next year. So I did the most logical thing and I emailed the preschool that Alex went to last year. They had registration the week before but since the previous year I had called in April and gotten Alex in, I figured it wouldnt be a problem getting Lauren in. WRONG!!! They were already filled up. So I then started to panic. I got on Facebook and asked friends for their opinions on preschools in our area.
There was one that I really liked and one of my friends informed me that they were registering for non-church members on Friday (this was on Thursday). I found out that registration started at 8:30 am and I asked my friend what time she was planning on getting to the preschool. She told me her husband would be at the school by 6:00 am. WHAT???!!! Seriously? Yup. She also told me that there were only 17 spots left in the 4 year old class!
Well, I figured if there was going to be at least one person in line, then there would probably be more. Guess what time I set my alarm for? 4:10 am.
Thats about the time I set my clock to go shopping on Black Friday. I figured if I could wake up that early to go shopping, I could do it to get my darling daughter into preschool. So I got there about 5:45 am but didnt go up to the door till a little after 6:00. There were 5 people in front of me (one of them was my friend's husband). The woman right in front of me was the youth pastors wife and we talked pretty much the whole time. She told me that the woman in charge of the preschool had told her to arrive very early in the morning to make sure she got her child a spot.
After about 5 minutes standing outside, a nice person let us into the building and we walked down a hall to where they would be holding registration. We all sat/stood there from about 6:15 to 8:30. I had actually forgotten the checkbook so Mike had to bring it to me before he went into work. While he went to work, Mikes mom watched Lauren.
As we sat there, many of us started talking and came to find out that 2 of the five people in front of me were there to register their 3 year olds. When it got closer to the time for registration, a woman brought out a poster board that showed what classes were available and which ones were full. The 3 year old class only had 3 openings. That means that only one person behind us would be able to get their child into the 3 year old class. Can you imagine standing in a line that long and being told that you missed making the 3 year old class by 1 person!!??
Anyway, thats what I did last Friday. And one day, when Lauren is older, I will make sure she never forgets what I did to get her into preschool!
