I Could Have Had a Cruise. Instead, I'm Going to WDW! May 2010 PTR - ONE MORE DAY!!!

Congrats on getting Lauren in the preschool you wanted. The private school near me is the same way with openings.

You AK day sounds really nice. I, like Alex, have made the life long declaration to NEVER RIDE EVEREST. I am terrified of heights so that will keep me off of it. Dallas is my little twin in that area, he hates heights. Poor Dale will have to ride it alone or maybe tag along with someone we meet up with. We had never done Conservation Station until last September, and it was great. We will be doing it again this trip. I learned all kinds of need stuff about a porcupine...............:lmao:

Thanks Dana!

I don't think Alex is scared of the height so much, it's more of not knowing what it's like. Most of the time, once he rides something, he likes it. It's just convincing him to get on it.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the Conservation Station. Did they teach you to pet the porcupine one way and not the other? ;)

If it helps at all, I just added our Conservation Station/Rafiki's Planet Watch experience and pictures to our TR. We weren't crazy about it, but I would imagine young children would get a lot more out of it than two adults.

Sounds like a good AK day you have planned. Looking forward to hearing about your anniversary plans!

I'll have to go check out the pictures on you TR. I'm sorry I haven't posted on there lately! It's starting to get crazy around here.

LOVE the Frontierland-themed dinner!!! Sooo cute!! Can''t wait to hear about this pirate-themed one!! And WOW you were up early to get Lauren into a Preschool! I'm sooo glad it worked out and that you got her in!! :goodvibes

Thanks Becky! Arr! If I could work at WDW I would either want to work at POTC or ToT. I would have way too much fun on those rides! I love to talk pirate!

Oh how cute!! You really outdid yourself!! I bet the kids LOVED it!!! :lovestruc

Thanks Becky! They had a great time!

How cute :thumbsup2. You are so creative. I would love to have one of those fruit skewers right about now......yummmmmmmmmmm

Thanks Dana! Those fruit skewers are my go to dish. Whenever I go to a gathering and have to bring a food item, I like to make those. They're super easy to make and they take very little time. the majority of the time is spent melting the chocolate for the strawberries and then waiting for the chocolate to cool and solidify.

It looks great! We have our first theme night date set - April 23rd. We're going to do 4 of them - one a week leading up to the trip.

Yay Megan! Can't wait to see what you're going to do!

Congrats on the school, since C is going to the same place again next year I got priority reg-no lines. My friend's Hubby camped at the church OVERNIGHT one year. Um, no school is worth that IMO.
Very cute Disney night!!!

Thank you Mary! I've heard of people camping out to get their children in schools before and I can't imagine! It was hard enough to wake up early!

Great Disney Night Alicia! Those fruit skewers look delish. Looks and sounds like everyone had a great time. :goodvibes

thanks Leanne! I can never just eat one of those skewers Leanne! I think I ate 3 of them that night. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the link to the pictures! We'll probably put it on the list as an "if we have time" sort of thing.

How is it that my darling husband posts on here and I never find out about it till I see it? He never tells me he replies. Funny man!

Hee, hee!! I loved the Blue Lagoon dessert!! How did you get the fish in there like that??

What a blast -- I wonder if 13 year olds would enjoy a treasure hunt?? :rolleyes1 I'm just thinking I might have to throw something like this together when her friend spends the night sometime!

I cheated Vickie! I waited till the jello was mostly solid and then I pushed the fishes in till they reached the middle. The whipped cream covered the hole that was made by pushing the fish into the jello.

I bet a Disney night would be a ton of fun during a sleepover!

Only 2 more months to go!!!
:cool1::banana::cool1::banana::cool1::banana: :woohoo::banana::woohoo::banana::woohoo:

Yay!!!!! And today it's:

:cheer2::woohoo::dance3:Less than 2 months!:dance3::woohoo::cheer2:

I was a couple of updates behind....sorry family health issues.:sick:

We try to incorporate Rafiki's Planet Watch into our Animal Kingdom day but have skipped it a couple of times. A couple of times we've been able to watch them do surgeries or check ups on animals which was cool. But, my main goal in going there is to search for hidden Mickeys. There are tons of them there!

Your pirate themed night was so cute. I could go for some of that pizza and the fruit skewers right now. How is it that I always seem to look at food pictures right around lunch time?:confused3

They taught us about the quills and how they don't shoot them out but back into their enemy and stick them. When they got him off the stage they let us feel some of the quills he had shed. I enjoyed the train ride too. :thumbsup2.

I will have to make some of the fruit skewers for our next get together at work.

:banana::dancer:party:WOOOOO HOOOOOO 2 MONTHS:banana::dancer:party:

So y'all might be wondering why I haven't posted about our romantic night yet. Well there's a good reason for that. Our plans might be changing...again. :eek: My darling husband keeps looking at resorts and changing his mind. He needs to stop it! It's driving me crazy. I may have to ban him from the computer!:rotfl: We're looking at the Beach Club or the Contemporary. I think we're leaning toward the Contemporary. We've asked our agent to check availability so we'll see what happens.

And I don't know where we'll go on our anniversary night if I don't know what resort we're staying at. We need help y'all. We're insane. I never thought we would change our mind this much over the resort we're staying at. I'll let y'all know when we figure it out.

Up Next: And The Winner Is...

Don't tell me that your husband has caught the Disneyresortchangeitus! I had that a few weeks ago as did a lot of my other Disboard friends. Thankfully, the changeitus went away and we all stuck to the resort we originally booked.

Keep us updated.

You know it is a VERY contagious disease :scared1:. Let us know what you decide.

I'll be the friend that changed but for good $$$ reason :) Can't wait to hear what dear ol DH decides.

Oh he definately has it Lisa. He even gave himself a headache from trying to decide. Silly man! :rotfl:

Yes it is Dana! I've never known him to switch this much.

Can't wait to hear what you decided!

Me either Leanne!

We should do a group final tally of how many times all of us have changed resorts and ADRs. :rotfl2:

Stop the madness! LOL...

I hope you figure something out soon.

Megan, I think I pleaded with Mike yesterday to stop the madness! He woke up this morning with a headache and he said he didn't sleep well because he kept thinking about resorts. Poor thing!

Okay. So here it is. Our final resort change. I promise. No more changes. So without further ado, we are staying at:

:banana::lmao::rotfl2:The Polynesian Resort:rotfl2::lmao::banana:

Surprised? Here are the reasons: Monorail, Tonga Toast, stayed here before so we know we’ll like it. However, I did make Mike promise that we’ll stay at the Yacht Club within the next two trips to WDW AND that at some point in our lives, we have to stay at the Contemporary. I’m glad the craziness is over. I think I discovered that my limit for changing resorts is 4 times. By the fifth time, I was ready to pull my hair out.

Up Next: Our Anniversary Dinner – Are Y’all Ready For This?

Congrats on deciding on the Polynesian. That is truly my dream resort. Hope that you still have some hair on your head.:lmao:

I don’t know where to begin with this. Really. If y’all thought all of our resort switching was hilarious, wait till you read about our anniversary dinner. I guess I’ll start at the beginning.

Way back in January, when we were still going on our cruise, we had decided to eat dinner at the Wilderness Lodge to pay homage to our honeymoon. Now you’re probably thinking we were going to eat at Artist Point since it’s romantic. Nope. We made an ADR at Whispering Canyon Café.:eek: That’s right folks! We envisioned ourselves eating the Canyon Skillet, drinking never ending shakes, getting tons of ketchup on our table, and having our server embarrass us about it being our anniversary. To me, that sounds like a great time! :woohoo:

Once we cancelled the cruise and made our initial Disney reservations though, we started looking at other restaurants. The first was California Grill. We thought about how romantic it would be to eat there and watch Wishes. So we made an ADR. And then we started getting cold feet. I like to get dressed up every now and then and have a great meal, but I just wasn’t feeling California Grill. I think in the last couple of years Mike and I have realized that we’re not “fancy” people. We like to keep things simple and have a good time. So for us (just our opinion), California Grill felt a little too stuffy.

Well, then we switched our resort to the YC. You know where I’m going with this, don’t you? :sad2: We thought “Hey! The YC has the Yachtsman Steakhouse! Why don’t we go there?” And so then we cancelled our ADR at California Grill and made one for the Yachtsman. We looked over the menu, picked out what looked interesting to us, and smiled at our good fortune. And then it happened: we got cold feet again. The Yachtsman still felt a little too stuffy. I’m in Disney World. I don’t want to have to dress up to go eat.

So, then we started looking at what restaurants were in the boardwalk area. We found Big River Grille and Brewing Works. Are you confused yet? I honestly think the whole purpose of planning this trip has been to confuse ourselves. We’ve done it with the resorts, why not do it with our ADRs? I really do like the thought of going to Big River Grille. I can have a hamburger if I want, or I can have a steak. It’s the kind of food we really like to eat. But there’s one problem now: we’re not staying at the YC so I’m not sure if we would want to drive there.

So here is the plan:

Mike and I will make sure Mom and the kids are set for dinner with either room service/Captain Cooks/pizza delivery (whatever Mom chooses). Then we’ll head to….

:cheer2::woohoo::dance3:The Wilderness Lodge:dance3::woohoo::cheer2:

I can’t help it folks. It’s where we stayed on our honeymoon and I really want to go back. We never actually cancelled our ADR for the Whispering Canyon so we’ll wander around the resort, capture our funny video re-enactments, go sit in our spot, and then we’ll go to Whispering Canyon Café for our 6:10 ADR. We’ll make sure they know it’s our anniversary and to give us a good server. We’ll get completely stuffed eating the Canyon Skillet and have our shakes. I’m hoping to get really embarrassed here. I want our 10 year anniversary dinner to be fun and crazy (just like we are)!

But that’s not the end of the night folks! We then plan to drive to…

:thumbsup2:banana:Disney Hollywood Studios!:banana::thumbsup2

Where we will ride my favorite, favorite, favorite, favorite, favorite, favorite, favorite favorite ride!

party::jumping1::worship:Tower of Terror!!!!!!!:worship::jumping1:party:

I hope the lines aren’t long and we can ride it over, and over, and over again till the park closes! Okay, maybe we can go on a ride that Mike want to ride too. I think I can sacrifice one ride on ToT so he can ride something else. But only one. Truthfully, we’ll ride other things but the first one has got to be ToT! I’m hoping we get to do a couple of rides since it’s EMH.

So that’s it! Our big, confusing, romantic (well, at least to us) anniversary dinner. I’ve taken it upon myself to make the executive decision about what we’re doing. Now I have to go tell Mike. :lmao:

I always always doubt my ADRs and change them several times before our vacation so your story sounds about par with mine. So, you aren't crazy for all those changes. ('cause if you were, then I'd be too and I ain't crazy!:rotfl:)

I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to get dressed up while on vacation. The fanciest we get is a pair of capris and a nice top.

We ate at the Whispering Canyon last year and loved it. The skillet was so yummy as was the smores cheesecake.

Woohoo for going to Hollywood Studios after dinner! I rode the Tower of Terror last year for the first time and can't believe that I actually liked it. As a matter of fact, I liked it so much that I turned around and rode it again. My kids say I only liked it 'cause they were downstairs waiting for us and praying for me.:laughing:
