Hello, dear readers!
After a crummy day, I came home to a little package that brought a HUGE smile to my face! What is it, you might ask?
Well, as you know, Mike and I are planning on attending our first
MNSSHP in costume! I had found this "ghost" costume on clearance and picked it up, thinking it would be a great choice!
It's a Grandin Road Martha Stewart thingy that is normally over a hundred dollars (soooo not worth that much!!!) I got it home and tried it on.
Um, yeah. Uh.....just to give everyone a good laugh, I went ahead and snapped a picture....
Look! Even ghosts take horrible FB photos....please universe, stop doing this for your profile pics...mkay? Mmmkay.
So yeah, the costume wasn't EXACTLY what I had hoped for....

But it did get me thinking. I wasn't about to waste the 30 dollars I spent on it, but it wasn't exactly all that ghostly, either....
We got to thinking, and tried to find a "Disney" story we could work with. Mike is planning on being a pirate, so we thought it would be funny if I was a jilted lover of a pirate, sort of haunting him day in and out. Then, he found a site which mentioned that the original owner of the Haunted Mansion, at least in one of the "stories", was a pirate! And you know, there *is* that lovely lady in the attic....
Oh yeah, I was sold. The Attic Bride it was!
Of course, that meant I had to do some research, and some more shopping. While I'd love to use my own wedding dress for this (I mean, it's already dirty and aging in a box somewhere.......

) I, well, don't fit in it. That whole "you weighed 125 pounds when you got married and now you....well...don't." thing.
So, off to all the online sites to search for Vintage gowns.... a month and a half later (last Friday, to be exact) I found it, the PERFECT WEDDING DRESS.
Even better, it was only 40 bucks!
I'd say it's a 60s style, and the lack in cost might have had something to do with the musty smell.....hmmm.....nothing a little febreeze and sunlight won't fix!.......well, miracle upon miracle.... it FITS!
So here's a picture of the dress.....forgive Zoe, she likes just about anything that "matches" her coat:
I think it really works with the overall "look" of the HM Bride:
Now, I just need to put the two together, and figure out if I can carry a fake hatchet through the parks.... hmmm....maybe I'll go with the "old school" bride and just get one of those glowing hearts to wear underneath.
Mike had a great idea that I should get the pearls (faux, obvs) and figure out a way to deconstruct my "cape" to work both as a veil and a ghostly "Cover"....
Woo hoo! I'm so excited right now, it's like it's all coming together.
Wait.
*looks up at sky*
Well, it doesn't LOOK like lightning today......
How about you? Got any awesome costume plans?
