I could get used to a view like this. Guys, I want a castle.–Oct TR ( I'm BACK!!!)

Happy Birthday to your hubby! Sounds like a nice way to celebrate!

I pre-ordered my PhotoPass CD, too! :woohoo: Even better, my BFF is going with her family the week before Shane and I are going... so we're splitting the PhotoPass. :thumbsup2

For past trips, I've just made notes in a notebook. This trip? I'm going all out and making a planning binder! So I'll join you in the nuthouse! :lmao:

Thanks, and welcome to the nuthouse.:lmao: So far I'm still just on a notebook (and computer) but we'll see where I end up!

That's great being able to share the PP cost!

I preordered a CD yesterday too.... for our trip next year! I can stomach $100, but not more than that! I have always said, though, that I would be willing to pay an extra $50 for ride photos to be added automatically, like they are at Test Track. I hate paying for ride photos and we usually just do the redneck thing and take a picture of the monitor!

I agree. I'd much rather have the same setup that Test Track has with all the attractions. I would think it would save Disney some money too!

I hope the "new" Test Track still has this ability when it reopens!

Hi Jen - great work on the spreadsheet! :surfweb: I find myself reworking mine all the time... for next summer's cruise I have about three versions of 'the plan'.. as we're yet to decide our itinerary! :cutie:

I need to double check those October park hours - I think mine are still estimates from Touring Plans website :thumbsup2

Emma princess: x

Thanks! I'm having issues with it right now because I don't like all the colors....:rotfl2: They show up differently on my Mac at home than they do on my PC at work. (Probably a sign I should not work on that at work, even if it is on my lunch breaks....:goodvibes)

It's ok, I have a spreadsheet like that that compares my class schedule to my boyfriend's. It was the only way we could figure out when (and if) we had time to hang out during the day.

My husband and I share a Gmail calendar too... that helps us a lot with making sure we're on the same page, planning wise. (We still forget on a regular basis to add stuff, though!)

I have 3 spreadsheets! One with the official hours all over it. One with my plans and hopeful ADR's and one comparing whether the DDxP, OOP, or TIW are better deals! I tweek something everyday on my main one! Unfortunately I need to get my ADR's set and then hope the F&W events I want fit into it!!

Mine is not near as pretty as yours though!!

I'm looking forward to seeing what the F&W events are, though I have a feeling that could totally change around our schedule.

Happy Bleated Birthday to Hubby!
Hope you guys had a nice night last night!

Thank you thank you!

I'm looking forward to seeing what the F&W events are, though I have a feeling that could totally change around our schedule.

I looked at last years schedule and am using that as a guide to planning my ADR's and park days... Hoping they don't change too much on me!!

Sorry for the delay in the updates on all my threads, I had a bit of a rough go at things last week… turns out my gallbladder doesn’t like me all that much.:headache: Or, perhaps it didn’t like what I had been eating. No surgery, but pain and general ick for the past week and weekend. Still pretty cruddy, but came into the office for a change of scenery. Anyway, no one wants to hear about that, let’s get into the important stuff, Disney!:thumbsup2

It looks like we have our plans starting to come together, at least until we (hopefully) get the ADRs we want in mid-April. Have I mentioned how much I love the IPO? Not having to worry about dealing with the phone / web system early in the morning to hopefully get all my ADRs is worth the price of CL alone, IMHO. I stress easily, what can I say?

So here’s a brief overview of Day One:

Too-Flippin-Early O’clock:
Get up and load the car with lord knows how many bags.

100_0133-1.jpg

(I think we might have to bring these guys along for the ride again…..)

Too-Early-But-Not-THAT-Bad O’clock: Fly out of Dulles to Disney!!!:cool1:

I’m hoping we’ll be able to upgrade our tickets to First Class again before this trip, it makes luggage and check in SO much easier, but the way fuel prices are right now, I doubt we’ll be able to swing it. I do like the Economy Plus option on United, though, it at least means we won’t be sitting in the back of the plane crammed in like so many sardines. Shudder.:sad2:

After a few hours, we will be landing at MCO! This of course means a ride on the “faux” monorail. I admit, I really am one of those people who get giddy sitting in nothing more than a tram twenty feet in the air. So sue me, it means I’m almost there!:rotfl:

We will be using Tiffany Town Car services again… they’re amazing, and the past two trips to Disney, they have been there waiting at the bottom of the stairs even when our flights got in early. I should also mention our driver recognized us on our last trip and made her way over to us even before Mike or I spotted her!

I will do my best to FINALLY get a good picture of:

100_0151.jpg

Then, it’s off to our first resort out of three for the week, Yacht Club!

100_0156.jpg

Those of you who are following our TR from September of last year you will know that our YC stay was perhaps less than perfect.:lmao: Quite frankly this is one of the reasons for why we are doing a split stay. That being said, the good at YC did outweigh the bad, so we will be here for our longest stretch of the trip, 4 nights.

I’m hoping we’ll have a room ready, so we’ll just be able to drop off our bags, freshen up quick and jump on a bus over to…..

Animal Kingdom!!!

100_0578.jpg

This will be one of most likely two days in AK. I’m really hoping they extend the hours the closer we get to October, but for now at least, we’ll have until 5pm to get in a few things. For starters, we’ll have to either ride or grab FP for Expedition Everest. It’s my favorite ride in AK, by far, and the only “must do” attraction for me at least there.

Also, we’re going to try to catch ONE show: Bugs Life, Lion King, or (SHANNON BIRD ALERT!!!!!:rolleyes1) Flights of Wonder.

In addition, we’ll have to stop for a bit at Dawa Bar, perhaps to catch the parade…and (shocker) I’m going to get a Jalapeno Pretzel. Or three.:woohoo:

One of the other big things we’re going to do on this visit to AK is something we’ve been going back and forth on for a while now, doing the math and discussing next year’s plans. I think we’re going to upgrade our tickets to AP! We are not going to do a long trip in Disney next year, but we will go for at least one long weekend, most likely two. Since we have 10 day passes already that we’ve paid for, the upgrade makes financial sense for us. It means our next park passes will be free. That, along with TiW (hello, 20% off alcohol!!!) and no DDP after this trip (It doesn’t work for short trips, we realized this past February) make it a no-brainer for me.

And I swear it has NOTHING to do with the fact that I’m guaranteeing my husband will agree to another trip…. Nope… nothing to do with that…..:rolleyes1

Anyway, after AK, we’ll probably head back to the hotel to relax for a bit, and might take a walk through Epcot to pick up the Food and Wine guides, etc. I’m trying to make sure we’re both organized and not rushing about this trip. I want to make it as relaxing as possible… which totally wars with my needs to plan things down to the minute. Hopefully I’ll find a balance. Perhaps plan “relaxing” down to the minute???

For our first night’s dinner, we’ll be taking a cab back over to the AKL, because yes, we’re going back to Jiko!!

I’m looking forward to not only the dinner, but to seeing the gorgeous hotel again. I love the lobby of the Lodge. Breathtaking. I just can’t bring myself to stay there due to the transportation situation.

So that’s it for our first day, what do you think? Also, do you think I’m crazy for having the DxDP this trip, PLUS TiW???:confused3

Sorry your gallbladder is giving you issues!

I don't think adding the TiW with DxDP is crazy at all! I thought about doing it but couldn't make DxDp come out good for me. With the F&W events instead of meals I would have like 10 extra credits! If you drink alcohol with a lot of your meals you will still come out good on the TiW card!

My gallbladder hated me so much last year it decided to stop working all together. Now that its gone, I miss it sometimes. It messes with your system :) I hope you feel better soon. Avoid fatty foods at all costs! (sorry, what a bummer, right?)

:lmao:

Sorry about your gallbladder troubles. It's no fun when one of your internal organs wages war against you. I suffered for months with what I thought was really bad heartburn. I finally couldn't take the pain anymore and went to the doctor one day after work... since it was so late, they couldn't get me into the radiologist for an ultrasound until the next morning. Then, when I did go for the ultrasound, the tech's eyes nearly bugged out of her head. Needless to say she didn't like what she saw on the screen. I had emergency surgery a few hours later. Goodbye, gallbladder!

Anyway, hope the pain and icky feelings go away soon.

I'm with you on AKL... would love to stay there one day, but then I think about the resort's location and UGH. :sad2:

Hi Jen!

Hope you get well soon

That looks like a great first day so far :goodvibes - I've yet to do the bird show at Animal Kingdom ("Flights of Wonder"?) but we really love Festival of the Lion King and Tough To Be A Bug! :thumbsup2

Exciting news about upgrading to the APs! Apart from the TiW discount, there are many other discounts you can get with the AP.. 10% off in nearly all of the merchandise shops, 50% off mini golf, $4 off water parks & Disney Quest entry.. ooh and 10% off at Earl of Sandwich! :woohoo: - it definitely saved us so much last year having APs for our two trips.

All Ears has a good list of the benefits... http://www.allears.net/pl/apass.htm#bene2012

Hope you're having a good week and feel better asap! :thumbsup2

We've stayed at AKL twice, and I can honestly say we've never had any major transportation issues. But then again, we do also drive ourselves, so we always have our car, which helps when we want to eat at other resorts. But we've also relied solely on the bus system and never had any complaints.

Sorry to to hear about your gallbladder :-( but glad that you're feeling at least a little better!

Sorry to hear about your gallbladder issues...I had really bad stomach issues inthe fall and the dr thought it was my gallbladder...went thru some tests...it wasn't my gallbladder....still having stomach issues....and no dr seems to know what it is...oh well... one day someone will figure it out...LOL

Great first day plans!

Love Animal Kingdom...I'm with you on the transportation...we wont stay there unless we drive again or rent a car...although one of your readers had no issues....maybe its the time of year...or your luck...which I don't have any :rotfl2:

Great first day plans! Are you sure that you need both DxDP and TIW? Are there times when you wouldn't get an appy or dessert? If not, you may save more with just the TIW. Maybe you could crunch the numbers and figure out which would save you more.

Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Thanks, I'm feeling a lot better now, though dairy and fatty stuff mess me up. Well, I did want to lose weight, I guess....:lmao:

Yeah, we don't drink a TON,:rolleyes1 but I figure if we do go as many times as we're planning until next Fall, it will pay for itself pretty quickly.

My gallbladder hated me so much last year it decided to stop working all together. Now that its gone, I miss it sometimes. It messes with your system :) I hope you feel better soon. Avoid fatty foods at all costs! (sorry, what a bummer, right?)

I know, and thanks for your kind words!

It is a pain... literally, I guess! I have heard enough bad things from those who have had it removed that I'm willing to watch and wait....especially since I haven't had an issue until now.:confused3

:lmao:

Mike and I were discussing AKL for one of our "quick" getaways next year...that way we'll get to experience it when we're not really in park commando mode.

I'm glad you didn't have too many complications with your gallbladder surgery, I'd be so scared if the tech looked at me like "oh you're getting surgery NOW"....:sad2:

Just popped over here from the October FB group!

Your ADRs look great! I am jealous about Victoria & Albert's- the only way I could get my DH to agree to that would be if someone else was paying

Randomly, we have identical weight loss needs! Literally, from starting weight to finish. I hope we both succeed!

Also joining in from the FB group! I really like your day 1 plans, and am jealous of your need to updrade to APs:goodvibes

thanks for reminding me that the soup from Le Cellier is at the F&W booth! i had forgotten that and now am happy LOL

Thanks Emma, I'm feeling much better now, finally! Thanks also for sharing the link of the AP benefits. I think it's going to save us quite a bit of money over the next year, or at least I hope it will!:goodvibes

Now I just need to make sure it doesn't lure me into spending more!:rotfl2:

Thank you!!

I do get the feeling that AKL is on top of its bus service, it's more of me wanting to be able to walk somewhere (MK or Epcot) if I don't feel like taking a bus. I doubt we'll ever rent a car unless we stay off site. Just seems like too much money for something that is included in the price of our resort rooms. (I'm sure that's one reason why they cost so darn much!:lmao:)

I'm so sorry to hear that you're having stomach problems too! It's really the worst feeling ever, especially not knowing why. Align worked for me for awhile last year after the antibiotics screwed my tummy up. So did just yogurt. I got sick of it after awhile though....;)

We all know my luck with transportation is either fantastic or nonexistent. Usually the latter.:rotfl2:

Great first day plans! Are you sure that you need both DxDP and TIW? Are there times when you wouldn't get an appy or dessert? If not, you may save more with just the TIW. Maybe you could crunch the numbers and figure out which would save you more.

Hope you get to feeling better soon!

At the risk of sounding like an alcoholic, the main benefit of TiW for us is the discount on drinks. We'll typically have a cocktail each afternoon and wine with dinner while on vacation, so the 20% off really adds up! (Especially since Disney has Vegas drink prices! Ugh!)

I am also admittedly lazy, so paying up front and not really budgeting for food saves me a bit of a headache. I know I don't come out ahead, but with the fact that I gravitate towards the most expensive entrees on a menu (yes, I am also a snob :rotfl:) I know we come close to breaking even. On future trips (long weekends) over the next year, I don't plan on using the DDP and will rely on the TiW alone.

Just popped over here from the October FB group!

:welcome: !!!

Have you ever thought of a "wish pig"? That's what we're doing this year for all the F&W kiosks. I have a little piggy bank we throw our change in to each day and it adds up fast! Now, if you were to say, put a 5 or 10 dollar bill in there each week, that might help with V&A!:lmao: That place is insane for price, but what an experience!

You're probably well ahead of me on the weight loss and fitness. I have fallen behind after the gallbladder drama. Just barely doing weight and core exercises right now, next week back to cardio. I sometimes feel like I'll never win - then I look at pictures from two years ago and realize I was there once, I can get there again!

...I hope.:sad2:

Hi! Welcome to my insanity!

The soup is at the F&W booth, though I don't think the pretzel bread is... which makes me sad, and makes me want to figure out a way to add in a Le Cellier lunch to our plans.

I'm crazy, I know.:dance3:

I know, I crack me up....:rotfl2:

First off, I'm so sorry for the HUGE delay in my posts. Life caught up with me for awhile there and I just couldn't get the time to get on the DIS!:sad1:

How have YOU been? Anything fun that you've done in the past month? We went to Barboursville, VA again for a fun weekend of food, wine, and really good friends. This weekend we're heading up to PA to visit with my family and get some Karaoke time in (I know, insane) and next weekend Mike and I are heading down to Williamsburg, VA for a long weekend. It's the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Williamsburg (American Civil War) so as opposed to the town looking like it does during the Revolutionary Period (War of the Annoying Yanks for those of you across the pond :lmao:) they're going to have it set up like the 1860s... so excited to see all the special things set up and learn something!

We're also going to stay in a Colonial House there, which should be super cool!

I should be entering into a new work schedule soon, which will allow me one to two days working from home each week. This should enable me to multitask enough on those days so I have some free time to update my multiple reports. I have to finish two of them before we go to Disney in October, or I'll lose my mind. Again.

So - on to the plans... I'm happy to say our ADR window day has come and gone, and we got EVERYTHING we were looking for! Well, except BoG, but then again, that may not open until December now anyway....booo.....

Here's the list, what do you think?:

  • Jiko – The Cooking Place - Dinner
  • Cinderella's Royal Table - Breakfast
  • San Angel Inn - Lunch
  • Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room - Dinner
  • Artist Point - Dinner
  • Yachtsman Steakhouse - Dinner
  • Raglan Road™ Irish Pub and Restaurant - Late Night
  • Tutto Italia Ristorante - Lunch
  • Citricos - Dinner
  • The Crystal Palace - Breakfast
  • Kona Café - Lunch
  • The Hollywood Brown Derby - Lunch
  • California Grill - Dinner
  • Yak & Yeti™ Restaurant - Lunch
  • Bistro de Paris - Dinner
  • Kouzzina by Cat Cora- Breakfast
  • Tokyo Dining - Lunch
  • Victoria and Albert's Chef's Table - Dinner

I think that's all of them! I am hoping to change Tutto to the new "wine bar" they will be opening..... and I'm crossing my fingers over and over that Cali Grill will not be closed during our time there. (There are rumors circulating again that it will be sooner rather than later)

My fingers hurt from all this crossing.

So, what do you think?:confused3

Happy Friday!

Jen

Sorry to hear about your gall bladder episode. No fun!

Sounds like an epic trip! Like your start at the Yacht Club along with a couple of AK visits first thing.

How does TIW work- is it $75 or something like that for a year? I know it is only available to DVC members, AP members and maybe FL residents. So if I am understanding correctly, with TIW you will be able to get the 20% savings for any wine/drinks that you order that are not covered by the DxDp? An interesting strategy.

I'm not as concerned with that than I am with your club level food offerings on top of that, but since you said that having IPO make your reservations for you makes it worth it, I guess I don't have anything to complain about.

Your reservations look familiar, but mostly from your TR, not actual experience. We have been to Kona (B, D not L), Crystal Palace (L not B), Yak and Yeti (D not L) and San Angel, a hundred million years ago. Sounds fantastic, though!

Hi Jen,
Great weekend plans! My Dh and I LOVE history as well....

The restaruant choices are great! Can't wait to read your dining reviews!

What part of PA are you going to? My family is from there... Markleysburg/Uniontown. My dad was born and raised in Markleysburg (in fact, my grandmother is still there, even in the same house)

Have you been to San Angel before? I'm curious as to what you think (or thought) of it. My oldest DD really wants to eat there on our next trip.

I think all your ADRs look great! I'd like to see what the menu for the new Tutto Gusto will be...

OMG that is an amazing list of ADRs! :yay: .. did you book the Chef's table at V&A's online or by phone? I would love to do that one day.. we had a wonderful meal there in the 'regular' dining room, I can't imagine how great the chef's table must be :thumbsup2

I'm looking forward to the Tutto Gusto wine bar opening too - hard to tell if it's a bar with snacks or more of a sit-down restaurant? Hoping to stop by there during our August and/or October trips :goodvibes

Are any of the restaurants new for you guys to try?
